Steve Earle's new release features all songs written by Guy Clark.

Terry Allen and Guy Clark became fast friends in the 1980s. I'm not sure if it's finished yet but Terry, a renowned artist, was going to fashion a sculpture remembering Guy, and including some of Guy's cremains in it.

From 1979, "My Own House" is a fabulous example of Bromberg's acoustic talent across genres. Songwriter Paul Siebel wrote the melody to this one and added lyrics to those already written by Willa Cather.

A set of music from some Illinois singer/songwriters. Wil lives near Cobden, IL and has been writing and playing great songs for many years. Sending this one out to my cousin, Mike, who is a fan of Wil's music.

This song was co-written by Roscoe and members of the Toler family, Dave, Virgie and Ann at least. It won an award some years back at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS.

Mike is a wickedly funny songwriter who hails from Edwardsville and hosts Log House Concerts, a series which spotlights great guitarists. As we speak Mike is on his way to Richard Smith's Tunesmith Studio in Nashville to record his second cd of original songs. Dustin Greer and Cecil Tinnon are traveling with Mike and musical genius Rory Hoffman is supposed to lend his talent to the project.

From Adam's latest release, produced by Lloyd Maines. Adam and his wife, Chris, are center stage at the Focal Point this Thursday, June 27th for a 7:30 show in this month's offering of Songbird Cafe. Tickets are still available.

Originally recorded in 1992. One of my favorite Greg Brown songs. It may be boys playing a boy's game but life in the bush leagues can be demoralizing. Gotta have a baseball song on Songwriters Showcase.

This tribute to legendary songwriter Fred Neil came out in 2018.

A classic song which I first heard on Songwriter's Showcase. Originally released as a 15-song cassette in 1990 titled "Man Against Beast" and this reissue adds the classic Woody Guthrie song "Deportee" with Lucinda Williams. David Rodriguez emigrated to the Netherlands in 1994, remaining there until his death in 2015. His daughter is musician Carrie Rodriguez.

Waylon Jennings recorded Steve Young's "Lonesome, On'ry and Mean" and once remarked that Steve had no idea how talented he was both as a songwriter and guitarist. Probably his best-known work is "Seven Bridges Road", which the Eagles made popular.

Without a doubt Songwriters Showcase is where I first came across this woman, who was "too country for country."

One of my favorite singer/songwriters, I got the opportunity to host an instudio session with Rodney a few years back. A very gracious man whose handwritten lyrics of his classic "'Til I Can Gain Control Again" hang in our KDHX air room.

Rosanne and Rodney were spouses at one time. This is a wonderful release.

I'm certain I first heard this brother/sister pairing on Songwriters Showcase, as I did the song's co-writer along with Katy, Tom Russell.

Songwriters Showcase was quite likely responsible for Fred Eaglesmith making St. Louis a regular stop when he tours. An absolute classic.

I believe Ed mentioned awhile back that there is previously unreleased Kate Wolf music out now. I need to get a copy of it.

One song about eyes deserves another. The songs on this album were all P.D. Sure makes copyright issues easy.
