One of the most awkwardly hilarious in-studios I've ever been present for was Magnetic Fields when I worked at KEXP in Seattle. The session started and Stephin Merritt played one song and then turned to the host (not me, blessedly) and said, "well, I think I should probably do that again." And she had to tell him (remind him?) that we were live.
