I enjoy TV as a visual medium for storytelling, and I hear a lot of great music that inspires my Afternoon Music Mix sets. Whether it is a song I know and love or something new I discover as I watch, I am viewing and listening intently as I watch TV shows. I am delighted to share my viewing experience with you. I am on the second season of the Gossip Girl reboot. Similar to other shows like And Just Like That, the Sex and the City reboot, it is a nostalgic watch for me, harkening back to a time when you would gather with friends to watch a show TV live on TV. Remember that? The original Gossip Girl series came out at a time when there was still appointment viewing for television. And the Gossip Girl reboot features the same witty dialogue and art and culture references from Manhattan’s private school elite that was groundbreaking during its first iteration.

| Ethel Cain Everytime Everytime-Spotify Singles Daughters of Cain Records 2022 The reboot still packs the same punch with fierce dialogue and ever-so-current music choices. This is a show that featured playwright Jeremy O’ Harris, and pop culture critic Hunter Harris in the same episode topped off with a Charli XCX performance. I had to ask myself whether or not they are making this show just for me. Then, this past week in the 8th episode of the second season, the glorious music supervision was the highlight of the episode. Omar Apollo, a Britney Spears cover, a Gaby Moreno song, and one of KXCI’s featured new releases, Yeah Yeah Yeahs Burning, wove together last week’s high school drama.
