Regarding Pop Life, the whole album is great. Unfortunately it seems most people go from Purple Rain to Sing of the Times and overlook this underrated gem.

Yes! I agree with you 100% on that. Around the World in a Day is a pretty solid album. 1999 is another one that has some pretty great gems tucked away on it as well. I love Purple Rain as well and Sign of the Times, but there is a real magic in Around the World...Pop Life alone is just such a perfect song.
