I liked that vocal version of Soul Serenade. I have the King Curtis version on the "Soulful Grooves " comp. Cal Tjader, Ramsey, Mongo, Hugh Masakela, Jimmy Castor , John Handy & others. Great single disc comp of classics

Yes! I;d forgotten there was a vocal version of "Soul Serenade' which I think I first knew from one of the seven vol. two-disc sets of the History of Atlantic R&B.....

Those new Spiritual Jazz comps are great

Buddy Collette! When I spent a decade living on the west coast I befriended a lot of old jazz fans who would regale me with tales of seeing Buddy Collette, Eric Dolphy and Chico Hamilton in the early days....

Like harpist Brandee Younger and bassist Dezron Douglas, Laubrock and Rainey are an instrumental couple who have contributed steadily despite the pandemic...

This is great! The one played on the folk show was a talking blues cover of Todd Snider ( Talking Reality Television Blues). It was really cool. Spoken word Tom gettin political and pop cultural. .
