Camden NJ? I remember walking across the Ben Franklin Bridge and thinking it needed lots of bulldozers back in the 80's. No offense, I love what you are playing.

I lived in a rowhouse right on the Ben Franklin bridge in the late '80s, guess your wish came true, that place isn't there anymore.

East Philly. I saw a big name rock band put out official release live recordings back in the 2000s. The front cover of their show from that Camden indoor/outdoor venue states "Philadelphia". Oh well.

Which band was that?

Pearl Jam. By "I saw" I mean I viewed the cd cover.

Camden High Panthers basketball number 4 in the nation.Mayor Carstarphen making the city better.SacredcHeart Church helping people with food and housing.Outdoor Jazz at wiggins Park.No bulldozers needed.

@Dan Buskirk My friend's dad was a VP for Campbell Soup and probably had something to do with that. Sorry if that was a problem.

I have seen some fun shows there (Neil and the Horse at least 3-4 times). But I dread driving into that city or out of it. "Hey let's close all of the streets that easily lead back to the interstate and bridge(s) so that the concert goers can get lost and drive through burned out Camden neighborhoods at 11pm..." Great planning.

Besides living there in the 80s, I've spent a fair amount of time in Camden over the years, I can;t help by feel protective of it. My parents had their first big date there, seeing TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE in a theater in 1950.

I am a Mann Music Center fan from way back and still resent that venue stealing the thunder away from the Mann. I missed a grass parking lot tail gate scene right next to the venue. But I still went across the bridge to Camden. I heard some used that ferry to cross for concerts but they stopped their last trip at some crazy earlier hour causing mad rush before the encores across the river.

Saw a fun Willie Nelson & Bob Dylan double bill at that minor league ball park right by the bridge in Camden. That park had a perfect angle to the view of the bridge and Phila. Well constructed.

I took the ferry over to see the Who with my brother in law around 2002. A fun night.

Your music brain is bigger than anything I have ever noticed in my ventures through Camden. Just sayin'

I Lived in Moorestown and Glassboro. Not hanging in Camden at all.

The Who and Jimmy Page/Black Crowes were doing a leap frog thing back then. They would play consecutive nights at a venue. I think they had same management and our touring production... cut down on costs and there was a deal if people bought a 2 night package of tickets etc.

Did Richard Dawson put out any records with Bob Crane.

Yep. They just came out with recordings he made in "The Duck Walk Room" on the St Louis club he played regularly, with a band featuring his son. Chuck is real engaged and the guitar playing is off the hook...

@Dan Buskirk - I got a vinyl of a Van Wilks release for super cheap online that was out of copyright production since the 80's. I just don't get it, but there it is sometimes.

Yeah, a lot of rare records I've searched years for before I realized they're available for a song online....

I think he used to play Valley forge music Fair and those Geator compilation gigs.

So many LPs that I was really interested in this year popping up on the set today Dan!

I heard CB showed up this his guitar and amp, and just wanted the check on the way out.

Saw a great Gordon Lightfoot gig at VF Music Fair in mid 90s. Spinning stage. Like Willie Nelson, Gord had the same band for 30-40+ years or so. String arrangements were quieted down and played faintly by a keyboardist which made for big improvement. Hearing the more stripped down songs.

Another great documentary the Gord one. Well done. It was on Prime earlier in 2021... not sure now.

I stopped my SXM satellite subscript the other day after 15 years. I really liked some of the celeb curated "shows" or random playlists with taped audio whatever they used. David "Sri-Lama-Dama-Ding-Dong" Johanssen was one. Larry Kirwan from Black 47's celtic show was great. And for a while there Bernie Taupin had a good one w/a cohost. And Andrew Loog Oldham had a good one. He broadcast from Venezuela. Heard the Lou Reed/Hal Wilner show only a few times.

If you watch that Pogues documentary from 20 yrs ago or so you will hear Shane's cchhggghhh chghhhghh.... raspy laugh like the Snaggletooth cartoon character in your head for weeks afterward. Ironic that the character it reminded me of contains "tooth" in its name...

Dropped my SXM a while ago. Nice when your driving across the desert or mountians though.

True Roffle. I will miss it. No complaints, great ride for 15 yrs. But I got addicted to this terrestrial radio station in central New Jersey ....

...and the rest is history....

Ya... WPRB I always had it as a radio preset since I first had a used car to drive around. Some years more listens than others. Then in the past 10-20 years the pie chart of daily "non PRB devoted hours" and "PRB devoted hours" had a big change of color distribution.

He sounds like that Rodriquez guy that they rediscovered a few years ago.From detroit Mi.

And gives me another excuse to whip out some Meters....

I wish I would have saved all my cassettes I recorded ofvPRB programs.

We have a crazy Rodriguez live story involving rowdy Ft Lauderdale area fans in a posh sit down theater about 5 years ago.... Sixto likes his pre game beverages it seems. And he is vision impaired apart from the drink .There was a long delay getting him helped on stage. Opening act, then an improvised 2nd opening act of his daughter trying to play and sing. Then Rodriguez! The voice was great! It took about 10 songs in for his right and left hands to sync up on the guitar tho. But a great memory

The crowd was buying double shot mixed drinks for the entirety of the show. No "shut down the bar at half time" rule there. 90 % yelling whooping (in a posh seated theater where you'd see ballet, folk singers etc). And there was 1 guy next to us that was the "shhhh Police Sgt". He kept trying to admonish the crowd by telling them to be quiet... holding back the ocean...

Some of us need to warm up. That's for sure. Left and right hands literally have minds of their own.

Crazy Rodriguez story!

Yes! I don't think warmups would have been possible nor helped Sixto Rodriguez that night ha! But all said... it was a fun show. He played all the faves. And that voice was unchanged 50 yrs later. So smooth. And after he got into the groove he made it work. The crazy contrast of performer, most of crowd and polite minority of others was remarkable tho. Great times!

David Bromberg? Holy Shit! I loved The song he wrote with George Harrison! The Holdup was excellent!

Love Bromberg. Puts on a hell of a show. Great mix of styles. Putting horns in the mix on Irish, Scottish, English and Bluegrass fiddle tunes...

Tower South Street in Philly. I was the Country/Folk/New Orleans buyer upstairs. King Britt was the 12" buyer downstairs at the time, great guy.

Me too. The old J&R Music World in downtown NYC was a favorite haunt for years. They opened at, like, 8 AM so for a little while, I was able to go record shopping *before work* while en route to Jersey from Brooklyn.

The Tower across the street from Other Music was also THEE spot to find crazy 99 cent cutouts in the 90s. I still have the 100 Flowers discography disc with the .99 cent Tower sticker on it. I got rid of all my CDs years ago, but I saved that one, mostly for the pricetag.

Mike years ago before first Towers were built that area was Radio Row.Music and Recording stores everywhere.

I remember Britt pulling me into the record booth to hear "Doowatchyalike" from Digital Underground, like, "Isn't this the greatest!?"

Cutouts are the Godsend!

A former PRB DJrecently posted on Twitter: What this city really needs is a late-night vintage clothing shop that also sells ice cream, pie, records, and cigarettes.

In San Fran in the 90s they had a Tower Outlet, which was a constant source of incredible deals.

Yes! I remember the Tower Outlet! That place ruled. My 90s SF memories are fading, but wasn't that kinda near the SF Rough Trade?

I just realized Lorenzo's on South Street is closed during late night. Feeling insecure about not knowing where a slice can be procured after two a.m.....

@Patrick, yep, for sure! J&R hung on long after everything else went kaplooey. A weird outpost that felt like downtown's last bastion of old NYC for a while.
