Musicophilia is a new 2-hour progressive variety show from WTUL newcomer DJ MB, every first and second Friday from 10 PM-Midnight. Each show will be structured, more or less, around a theme (e.g., genre, artist, album anniversary, year, pop culture figure, world event, etc.) to explore the interconnectedness between musical genres and the important role that music plays in all our lives. Expect there to be a lot of indie, punk, post-punk, grunge, goth, and new wave/all the waves (DJ MB is a very predictable Pacific Northwesterner), but the show will not be limited to those genres. Future plans include having local bands on to guest DJ and discuss their work and influences. Stay tuned, and thanks for listening!
Musicophilia January 13th, 2023: New Wave New Year (New Year, New Wave)!
Welcome to the first Musicophilia of 2023! In honour of the so-called "new year", I will be playing (almost) non-stop New Wave tunes for the next 2 hours! Expect to hear classics such as Blondie, Devo, and Tom Tom Club, as well as bands from outside the standard US/UK New Wave scenes of the 1970s-80s. And, as always, I will be throwing in some music from bands new to the station and local faves. Sit back and let the synths wash over you! <3
