Betts wrote and sang βRamblinβ Man,β which became the bandβs only Top 10 hit in the USA. In addition, Dickey's ballads and fam inspired compositions, such as the jazz-inflected instrumental βIn Memory of Elizabeth Reedβ and the pastoral love song βBlue Skyβ are among fan's favorite.

| Dickey Betts & Great Southern Good Time Feeling Atlanta's Burning Down Legacy Recordings 1988 Rock RIP Dickey 12.12.43 - 4.18.24 The Allman Brothers Band built its style on guitar interplay between leader Duane Allman and the fretwork of Mr. Betts, whose influences included gypsy jazz musician Django Reinhardt and bluesman B.B. King. By the mid-1970s, a wave of Southern Rock acts including Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band, the Charlie Daniels Band and the Outlaws borrowed heavily from their twin-guitar format.
