| James Brown Funky Drummer In the Jungle Groove Polydor 1986 Born on this day in 1943: American drummer Clyde Stubblefield best known for his work with James Brown. His rhythm pattern on James Brown's 'Funky Drummer' is among the world's most sampled musical segments and has been used by hip-hop groups and rappers such as Public Enemy, Run-DMC, N.W.A, Raekwon, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys and Prince. Stubblefield died on February 18, 2017, from kidney failure age 73.
