Scandalize My Name: Combating the Rise of Zinnophobia
90 minutes celebrating the life and legacy of the pioneering historian, WWII veteran, Left activist, and playwright, Howard Zinn.
A reflection on the ideas, life, and influence of the author of the perennial bestseller A People's History of the United States: 1492 to the Present; an American hero who still provokes Right Wing ire a decade after his passing.
(Pres. Donald Trump just last week blamed Zinn's teachings – and the New York Times Magazine's "1619 Project" – for encouraging domestic unrest, and introduced a new "patriotic education" commission "to reclaim our history, and our country.")
This broadcast features a range of music associated with Professor Zinn, spoken word, film trailers and samples, and more.
"The Freak Power Ticket" airs on Mondays during KCSB's summer season from 11am-1230pm PDT.
