Tami Neilson is a singer-songwriter out of New Zealand. I found out about this release from my friend Rick Sanford. Here is what he wrote about it. "The lacerating strings arranged by Victoria Kelly and oily banjo-led creep of the tempo on this sleek narrative from her excellent fifth album, The Kingmaker, part warning and part beckoning, and the coiled restraint of Tami Neilson’s muscular voice recalls Bobbie Gentry, murder-ballad Dolly Parton, and a slew of artists who came out of that still-beguiling swamp after, like Neko Case, Arum Rae, and Grey DeLisle, but she threads the needle of nodding to that rich history without being too beholden to it." Well, that was intriguing enough to make me want to seek it out and give it a listen. I'm glad I did!

This Rosanne Cash cover features the lead vocals of Elizabeth Nelson who wrote all the other songs on the album. You will be hearing some of those in the weeks to come because she is a terrific songwriter (and writer about music, as well). This song just happened to fit in best with this set.

Lisa Morales harks from Tucson and happens to be a cousin of Linda Ronstadt. She co-wrote this title track of her new album with Eric Tessmer and the album was produced by multi-instrumentalist, David Garza.

The album indicated this was written by Rich Charlie. Oops. This is vastly different than Charlie Rich's version. Anyway, I like it. Sean Watkins and Sara Watkins share vocals throughout the song and Jon Brion plays the electric guitar solo on this.
