Jimmy McCracklin was born in St. Louis in 1921. The singer, songwriter and pianist wrote this song and recorded it for the Swing Time label in 1952.

This is Dr. John's final album and was recorded the year he died in 2019. Aaron Neville and Katie Pruitt sing some of the verses of this Traveling Wilburys song. You can hear his voice and phrasing remained strong to the very end.

A perennial M2M favorite. Written by Homer Banks, Raymond Jackson, and Carl Hampton and recorded in 1974 for the Spring label. There are great soul cheating songs and there are great soul vocals. This is both.

Really great version of the Aretha Franklin song recorded in 1976. "Call in the Cape Crusader, Green Hornet, Kato too."

Written by Jimmy Bishop, arranged by the great Bobby Martin, and recorded in 1970 for the Josie label. They sold well locally in Philadelphia but never had a bonafide hit over the course of seventeen singles. This song also appears on their 1970 debut (and also last) full-length album, 'Love.'

Your basic song referencing Steve Cropper, Wussy, Big Star, Lou Reed, a couple of classic songs, and a couple of classic albums all in the span of two minutes with infectious musical backing drawing from the good part of seventies rock and roll.

My sister and ex-brother-in-law gave this album to me for Christmas and when I unwrapped it, I noticed it had no shrink-wrap. They then volunteered that they decided to listen to it while wrapping presents. I can't say I blame them.

I've only heard two songs and my first impression is that trying to get this album across on the radio as less than a whole won't be easy for those unfamiliar with Beth Orton. This song completely envelops me, though. It's beautiful and fragile and the musical backing - somewhat on the jazz periphery - is perfect for this song. I've listened to it four times in a row now and it draws me in more each time. Will it top her album, Central Reservation? Not likely. Not many albums can. But I'm looking forward to hearing it in its entirety to find out.

I was hoping the entire album would live up to the first two singles I heard. It does! Highly recommended. Next goal is to see her in concert.
