Predating the megahit version from 1979 titled 'Heart of Glass', composed by Deborah Harry and Chris Stein. In some ways, I like this early version even more than the hit.

The final entry within the original band's discography, from 1979. This 2 CD set (L.S) is essentially the soundtrack to Lenny Kaye's fascinating rock 'n' roll memoir, covering 70 years of trends and songs Lenny loves. Book: 'Lightning Striking: Ten Transformative Moments in Rock and Roll'.

Album originally released in 1981. Not only is this a Christmas tune, it's a flat out earthy rocker - and my favorite version, in dead heat with Lu Rawls' version.

How can you not love 4 young ladies playing great instrumental rock 'n' roll? Just in case you were wondering, that was a rhetorical question, babies.

The songs on this 2-CD equivalent were recorded live at the KDHX studios in 2014 and 2015. The set was released digitally in 2021...not sure if it's still available or not. No Sudden Moves was recorded 07Sept2015.

While the blues quotient might be tougher to find on this new album by The Claudettes, amazing song and music abound, composed by pianist Johnny Iguana and seductively sung by Berit Ulseth.

This is one of several songs on Ruthie's new album co-written with he keyboard player Scottie Miller, who just happens to be a great friend to independent, non-commercial radio - and to KDHX in particular.

Leyla is a rare talent, and performed in St. Louis only a couple short months back at The Sheldon. She's of Canadian/Haitian ancestry, and takes a hard look at that Haitian side within this beautiful record.

Kat's ode to her partner, who happens to possess espresso eyes. My partner, Girlfriend Slim, has those same espresso eyes, which it turns out are quite bewitching. Kat is a powerhouse singer out of the San Diego area; album produced and guitar played by St. Louis native Mike Zito.

My thanks to Train of Thought's Nick Cowan for turning me on to this cool EP from Liz Phair. If only Liz didn't cuss so much, KDHX could spin so many more of her songs! ha!

Tiffany is a fantastic vocalist and songwriter out of Louisiana. Be sure to check her out when you get the chance.

Private stash music from one of St. Louis' finest vocalists - ever, and most definitely among the pride of Lincoln High's once-prestigious jazz program. The number of World-class jazz musicians who came out of Lincoln was sic...in a good way!

Joi Gilliam, an artist who reminds me very much in sensibility and presentation of our very own Erika Johnson. Fun fact: Joi's Daddy is former NFL quarterback Joe Gilliam, one of the very 1st, if not the 1st, black quarterbacks to play in the NFL.

Recorded at KROQ radio in 2002. Is there a better pure, soulful singer the past 30 years than Joan Osborne? If so, I don't know who it would be. She's just so great!

One of my favorite 'new' singers to emerge the past 5 years or so, Better can flat out lay it down, babies. I'm hoping she brings her full show to St. Louis one of these days. Not to a festival, but to her own venue show.

Take a bunch of fantastic Nashville cats across various genres and let 'em rip on a tribute to the Rolling Stones - and you end up with this stunning, rocking, fun album.

Sarah is from England, and is one of the few singers around who can do justice to the songs of the legendary Mahalia Jackson.

Song composed by singer/pianist Vaneese Thomas. She's the youngest child of the World's oldest teenager - Rufus Thomas - and in my ears the most talented singer of all the Thomas siblings. Which is saying a lot, 'cause they all sang great !
