Written by Smokey McAllister and released in 1964. This song was first done by the Soul Sisters in 1964, soon followed by this version, and covered again later that year by The Spencer Davis Group.

Dee Dee Warwick was the first to record this Clint Ballard, Jr.-penned song but it wasn't a hit until Betty Everett recorded it in 1963. This later became a #1 hit for Linda Ronstadt.

Previously unreleased 1973 medley of Wes Montgomery's "Bumpin' On Sunset" and Dyke & The Blazers' "We Got More Soul." Featuring vocals by Darondo & guitar by Charles "Doc" Williams. Kind of a Dyke & The Blazers on valium kind of groove. Recorded in Oakland at the Music City No. 2 studio.

1969 version of the Isley Brothers hit recorded for the Original Sound label.

1968 song penned by producer Jesse James and recorded in Philadelphia with session musicians who later would play on many of the Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff hits. I can't imagine this song wouldn't make any drummer happy.

Very fine 2019 release by the singer, songwriter, arranger, cellist, multi-instrumentalist, and former member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

Ricky Nelson cover found on this new 4-song EP which also features three new Nick Lowe originals. Musical accompaniment by Los Straitjackets. Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets will be at the The Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia which is taking place at Stephens Lake Park from Sept. 27-29. They play on Saturday (9/28) from 7:30-8:45 pm. Highly recommended.

Written by Lenny Kaye and Patti Smith. They wrote this song after the massive Tohoku earthquake hit Japan in 2011. The most underrated album of her career.

A big leap forward for the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist out of Nashville. Produced by Dave Cobb which never hurts.

RIP Neal Casal. It's been a bad couple of weeks with first David Berman and now Neal Casal leaving this Earth way too soon. He wrote songs in a Southern California singer-songwriter vein, released over a dozen solo albums, and was an in-demand instrumentalist who played with Ryan Adams, Chris Robinson, Willie Nelson, Shooter Jennings, and the Jayhawks, among others. He was only 50 years old. Very sad news.

This one closes out the album in fine form. “The jukebox plays Jimmy Reed / Dry-winds blow tumbleweed / The blues and the night have a mind of their own / With beer joints to slake our thirst / We wait for the great cloud-burst / Pray let there be raindrops the size of a stone”.
