We pay tribute to some more folks we lost and say goodbye to a couple fellow DJ's on this episode of Pop! The Beat Bubble Burst.

This episode will be dedicated to the memory of songwriter, guitarist, singer, Robbie Robertson of The Band who died on August 9, 2013 at the age of 80, after a year-long battle with prostate cancer.

This week's show will mark 15 years on the air for Pop! The Beat Bubble Burst. Can't believe it's been that long. Thanks to everyone who helped me get this show up and running and thanks to all the listeners who make it all worthwhile!

This will be the 14th Annual P!TBBB Anniversary Celebration - All Beatles Cover Show! This year's theme within a theme will be Beatles covers in medley form. Some of the medleys will include solo Beatles tracks and some medleys combine both Beatles/solo Beatles and non-Beatles tracks.

I hope you enjoy the show; I've tried to keep these Anniversary All Beatles Cover shows fresh by changing up the theme every year, and avoid too much repetition. For example last year was Beatles Covers From Around The World (All foreign language or bands/artists from outside the US or UK. The year before it was all duets.

A fixture of the St. Louis music scene, Beatle Bob lost his battle and succumbed to the ravages of ALS last week, July 27, 2023 at the age of 69. Bob was a complex individual to say the least. Also you could say he was a music enthusiast - but that would be a gross understatement. Bob lived and breathed music and did his best to see at least one live show everyday for decades. Often bouncing from 2-3 or more venues in a single day. When he entered the venue with his journalist/radio/cable tv "credentials" you could hear both cheers and groans. Yeah, some say he was a tastemaker and that, if you were at a show Bob was at, you were at the best show of the night in town. But he would push his way to the front of the stage - no matter how crowded it was, and sometimes displacing those who had arrived early to get those spots. And his "dancing" would be distracting to both concert-goers and bands alike. Now on the other hand, some bands would be thrilled that Bob had come to their show and "just try not to watch him dance - he'll totally throw off your timing". I met Bob back in the days when I was an officer in the St. Louis Beatles Fan Club. We made Beatle Bob an honorary member. Only 2 others, had that honor, if memory serves; Louise Harrison, and Chuck Berry were the others. I gave Bob rides home from a few of our events. Always dropping him at a coffee shop or McDonalds. Also interviewed him for the fan club newsletter: What Goes On. Every time I ran into him he would ask how my wife and daughter were, asking by name. and always seemed sincerely interested in how they were doing.

So, I decided to dedicate the Beatles Grab-Bag feature on me show this week to Beatle Bob, and maybe play some stuff about dancing - before I knew it I had 4 hours of songs about dancing. Bob would've danced to every single one, no doubt - barely breaking a sweat. So, I guess that means, I'm dedicating this episode to the memory of Beatle Bob. "Dance" in Peace.

It's my birthday today, so it's a bunch songs I really like and have to force myself not to play all the time!

We pay tribute to another giant in the world of music. Cynthia Weil who, along with Barry Mann wrote countless hit songs beginning in the early 60's. Mann & Weil are in the same company as Goffin & King, and Berry & Greenwich.

Cynthia wrote the words to fit Mann's melodies.

She is survived by her husband, their daughter, Jenn, and two granddaughters.

Cynthia Weil, songwriter, born 18 October 1940; died 1 June 2023. She was 82 - no cause of death provided.

Today, we pay tribute to Tina Turner and Pete Brown. Also celebrate a few musical Birthdays.
