Local writer Lydia Howell explores local culture, art, and activism with interviews and special features. She won the PREMACK AWARD FOR PUBLIC INTEREST JOURNALISM for her investigative reporting on homelessness in (the now defunct) PULSE Newspaper.

Lydia is a long time denizen of KFAI who also writes for various communicty newspapers and online publications.

Publicly-funded industrial agriculture is destructive to water and soil. Indigenous cultures around the world have a keen sense of place and have thrived with sustainable practiced that Bujold describes as a "regenerative food web". The "Headwaters Community Food & Water" bill at the MN State Legislature--HF2738 (co-sponosred by Reps. Fue Lee and Kaohly Her/ State Senators Richard Cohen and John Marty) would create an economic engine for sustainable living, local control and a new relatonshhip between rural and urban communities.
