"...rollicking, narrative-driven sound... 'Skid Row' acts as an ode to a LA honky tonk. High-flying fiddle, jangly piano, harmonica, pedal steel, and more paint a perfectly pleasing throwback performance from the artist, her honey-toned vocals acting as the centerpiece." - PopMatters

Sam Morrow Money Ain't a Thing
Gettin' by on Gettin' Down Forty Below 2020
Sam Morrow will release his new album Gettin' By on Gettin' Down October 30th via Forty Below Records. It’s a modern album that revisits — and reshapes — the primordial sounds of hip-shaking rock & roll. These nine songs are rooted in grease, grit, and groove, from the swampy soul of "Round 'N Round" to the funky syncopation of "Rosarita" to the hook-laden rock of "Money Ain't a Thing." There's hardly an acoustic guitar in sight; instead, amplifiers and guitar pedals rule the roost, with everything driven forward by percussive rhythms that owe as much to R&B as country music. Written and recorded in the wake of the tour for Morrow’s breakout record Concrete & Mud, Gettin' By on Gettin' Down doubles down on the electrified fire and fury of Morrow's live shows, with a road-ready band joining him on every song.

The Rolling Stones - Let's Spend the Night Together
The Rolling Stones Let's Spend the Night Together
Between The Buttons Abkco 1967
written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and originally released by the Rolling Stones as a double A-sided single together with "Ruby Tuesday" in January 1967. It also appears as the opening track on the American version of their album Between the Buttons. The song has been covered by various artists, including David Bowie in 1973. On The Ed Sullivan Show, the band was initially refused permission to perform the number. Sullivan himself even told Jagger, "Either the song goes or you go".[7] A compromise was reached to substitute the words "let's spend some time together" in place of "let's spend the night together"; Jagger agreed to change the lyrics but ostentatiously rolled his eyes at the TV camera while singing them, as did Bill Wyman. Between the Buttons ABKCO Music & Records, Inc. 1967
Between the Buttons is the fifth British and seventh American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 20 January 1967 in the UK and 11 February 1967 in the US as the follow-up to Aftermath. It reflected the Stones' brief foray into psychedelia and baroque pop balladry during the era. As with prior albums, the American and British versions contained slightly different track listings. The American version of Between the Buttons, which includes "Let's Spend the Night Together" and "Ruby Tuesday", is on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Between the Buttons reached number 3 on the British album charts and number 2 on the US Billboard Top LPs chart. Wiki

The Rolling Stones 2000 Light Years from Home
(Their Satanic Majesties' Request) ABKCO Music & Records, Inc. 1967
Did the Rolling Stones intend Their Satanic Majesties Request to be a spoof of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band or was it a sincere attempt to siphon some of the magic of the Beatles’ masterpiece? This question has hung over Satanic Majesties ever since its release in late 1967, perhaps due to the persistence of the perception that the two groups are locked in a deathless rivalry, or maybe just because their album artwork is so similar—not entirely surprising, considering how both ornate cover images are based on photographs snapped by Michael Cooper. Professor Longhair Go to the Mardi Gras
All Time Favorites: Professor Longhair All Time Favorites
Professor Longhair, byname of Roy Byrd, original name in full Henry Roeland Byrd, (born December 19, 1918, Bogalusa, Louisiana, U.S.—died January 30, 1980, New Orleans), American singer and pianist who helped shape the sound of New Orleans rhythm and blues from the mid-1940s. While he enjoyed only limited popularity during his career, his signature piano style, characterized by a rollicking boogie-woogie bass and engaging syncopation, can be heard in the music of such influential figures as Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint—who called Professor Longhair the “Bach of Rock and Roll”—and Dr. John (Mac Rebennack). Still, Professor Longhair’s compositions “Tipitina,” “Go to the Mardi Gras,” “Big Chief,” and “Mardi Gras in New Orleans” became and have remained anthems on the Mississippi River delta during Mardi Gras.

The Wild Magnolias are a Mardi Gras Indian tribe who also record and play as a funk musical act from New Orleans, Louisiana. The group's lead member was called the Big Chief, and at least three Big Chiefs are known to have headed the band for short stints prior to 1964: Leon, Flap, and Joe Lee Davis. In 1964, Bo Dollis became Big Chief of the group, having previously participated in other Mardi Gras tribes such as the White Eagles and the Golden Arrows. Wiki

Top 75 Classics - The Very Best of Smiley Lewis GRR Music 2014
Smiley Lewis was a big-voiced New Orleans guitarist who put out some great R&B records in the early 50s that sold well for him, but went on to provide worldwide hits for other artists. Forming a trio with Tuts and drummer Herman Seals, Smiley played the bars of Bourbon Street where he was picked up by DeLuxe Records, who released ‘Here Comes Smiley’ in 1947. Smiley’s early records were popular on juke boxes in his home-town and, in 1950, Dave Bartholemew took him to Cosimo Matassa‘s little J&M studio to record ‘Tee Nah Nah’ which sold pretty well locally. Two years later, Smiley’s own song ‘The Bells are Ringing’ on Imperial was a national hit, closely followed by ‘Lillie Mae’, ‘Gumbo Blues’ and ‘Playgirl’. allaboutbluesmusic.com

And if you revel in New Orleans funk music, well, you pretty much owe it all to The Meters. This is the unrivaled Crescent City quartet that started it all, the godfathers of the genre, the founding fathers of funk. They were made up of the incomparable George Porter, Jr. playing pulsating bass lines, master syncopater Zigaboo Modeliste (what a name!) on drums, scratching harmonic rhythms by Leo Nocentelli on guitar, and eldest Neville brother, Art Neville riffing on keyboards. Together they created tight, melodic, off-beat grooves that no one in New Orleans, or anyplace else, had ever heard before. somuschgreatmusuic.com
