Local writer Lydia Howell explores local culture, art, and activism with interviews and special features. She won the PREMACK AWARD FOR PUBLIC INTEREST JOURNALISM for her investigative reporting on homelessness in (the now defunct) PULSE Newspaper.

Lydia is a long time denizen of KFAI who also writes for various communicty newspapers and online publications.

Interview: HUGH THOMPSON, hero of the My Lai Massacre

HUGH THOMPSON (1943-2006) was a Vietnam War veteran who STOPPED the infamous My Lai massacre and saved as many as 300 elders, mothers and children from slaughter by Thompson's fellow American soldiers. Thompson was harassed and denigrated for 30 years before being given the Soldiers' Medal for valor in service to CIVILIANS in war. Thompson is interviewed by KFAI Radio host DON OLSEN (Northren Sun News, Thursdays, 1PM) at the 2203 VETERANS FOR PEACE national convention
