Child Marriage

Host Ellen Kennedy welcomes Senator Sandy Pappas, Ashlynn Kendzior, Abigail Henchek and Chloe Morse to talk about a problem most people never think about: child marriage. Did you know that in MN, you could be wed at 16 or 17, as long as it's in front of a judge? But you're not old enough to get a divorce. Senator Pappas, with Representative Kaohly Her, is working on getting a bill passed to change that law to one in place in most countries worldwide: no marriage before 18, for any reason. Morse, as a current high school student, is particularly concerned with supporting and defending the futures of people her age. She's hosting a conversation about child marriage at Highland Park Library. worldwithoutgenocide.org to learn more.
