Janine (J9) started using battery-operated ears (okay, hearing aids) when she was 4 years old and that's right around the time she started regularly sitting in front of the radio for hours, mesmerized. A few decades and sets of upgraded hearing aids later, not much has changed -- although the scenery changed in 2010 when she discovered, in the luckiest happening of her life, that she belongs in Haines. She hosts Soundwaves on Friday mornings, where she melds music across genres into a mix she hopes sounds familiar, intriguing, and unexpected/a little strange, because that's what life in the Upper Lynn Canal feels like.
