This week's episode: IT'S IN THE CARDS, with all tunes reflecting cards or card games in their titles and (for the most part) their lyrical substance. This topic showed up a slew of different eras and genres -- Rock, Jive, Pop, R&B and C&W. Although initially I was reluctant to jack with such a theme, I hope that I aced it.

This week's show was by listener request/suggestion: ACOUSTIFIED -- playing slimmed-down versions of great tunes, with lots of obscure and hard-to-find material by some artists that you know (and many with which you won't be familiar).

KKFI's Fall Fund Drive: In addition to pitching for this fundraising campaign, the theme was the number 90 (in homage to KKFI's 90.1 spot on the dial). We played a selection of tunes that were ranked #90 in the year-end Billboard Singles Charts, counting backwards from the year 2000 and ending with 1956 (the year the charts began) -- having to skip several years in between due to time constraints. I'm extremely gratified that the Mashup exceeded its targets for both number-of-donors and dollars raised, so ... HUGE thanks to all who contributed!

This week (per a listener's suggestion): POWER POP OBSCURITIES. The vast majority of today's playlist comprises songs/artists with which folks will likely not be familiar ... but all of 'em harken back to The Beatles in one way or another.

This week's show theme was suggested by a regular listener (thanks, Lyrical Linda): songs with women's names in their title. I took it a step further and built the playlist from 50's-60's tunes (with one exception, that was a listener request).

This week's theme: MAN. Back in January, I aired a playlist in which all tunes featured the word "woman" in their title. I meant to follow it up with a "manly version", but got sidetracked until today. This one gave me a great opportunity to include several listener requests that I'd fielded (and was only waiting for the right show theme in which to play them). Lots of calls this morning, as well as song requests that I was able to accommodate on-the-fly ... so a good time was had by all, methinks.
