The Jazz Insider will focus on the next generation while respecting the tradition of the music. Sam Wisman, known as the "Jazz Insider" on KKFI 90.1 FM, is a drummer and percussionist and plays professionally around Kansas City. He also teaches private drum lessons and enjoys playing the piano and guitar. Born the son of a classical musician in Topeka, Kansas, Sam's first love was the work of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. By the age of 13 he was listening to jazz on the radio and found the work of Parker, Coltrane, and Blakey.
