Bill Frater

I started in radio in the late 70's at UC Berkeley's KALX, doing punk rock and bluegrass for 3 years or so. Then I worked weekends and fill-ins at the "infamous" KTIM, in San Rafael. After 5 years the format dissolved. I did radio production at KKCY, "The City", in San Francisco. After a hiatus and move to Sonoma Country, I was on the air when KRCB, public radio, started, around 1992. I started the Freight Train Boogie there featuring "pre-americana" for over 20 years. Somewhere along the way I also started my weekly Freight Train Boogie podcasts, which I still do today. I moved to KRSH, The Krush", in Santa Rosa, a cool free-form station, where I did weekends and flll-ins and FTB. We moved to Salem Oregon in 2018, where I started doing Billy's Boogie on public KMUZ. I also do a weekly show on WAMU, Bluegrass Country, in Wash. DC, which is the new home of Freight Train Boogie.
And one more thing, I also program a pretty cool internet station, called Americana Boogie Radio, americanaboogie.com/radio
