Kenji's show "Circa '84" plays College Radio music... early music that was found on the left side of your radio dial, a.k.a. non-mainstream stuff that was not played on commercial radio around 1984 (plus or minus some number of years totally up to Kenji's discretion). In ways, the show is alternative before alternative went commercial. Could be punk and post-punk. Could be ska, rocksteady or dub. Power pop, jangle pop, mod, avant-garde, MTV 120 Minutes, Paisley Underground, international, synth, electronica, rockabilly, psychobilly, 2nd British invasion, garage, pre-grunge... the mishmash that was college radio back then (shout out to WXDU 88.7 FM, where Kenji was first on the radio). Make a request! Your ever-lovin' DJ gets especially excited to dig into KSCU's dusty archive of CDs and vinyl for some obscure band that's *not* on Spotify.
