Each week we will explore a new concept album and unpack the story and the meaning behind it. A concept album is “a collection of songs about a specific theme or story” (merriam-webster). Concept Cassette does not have a genre convention or theme for types of stories. It’s a fun surprise each week, but hopefully never a dull moment. I’m EmFin and I hope you tune in!
The Silver Scream
Ice Nine Kills' fifth studio album, The Silver Scream, takes its inspiration from classic, cult, and slasher horror flicks. Each song takes inspiration from both horror movie plots as well as musical motifs from horror movie scores. The Silver Scream is not only an album, but a short horror film of its own told using 6 of the album's music videos (Which can be found here along with lyric videos for the extended version of the album). Ice Nine Kills uses their intense style of melodic and post hardcore along with a blend of symphonic and heavy metal to truly capture the stories told in the individual songs and in the over arching plot of the album.
