With Taylor

A morbid menagerie of past and future metal classics melded into a chaotic cacophony of sinister sounds for bleeding ears. Death is no escape here; in fact, it's where we begin our journey. This ride stops at Maiden, Mayhem, Melvins, Meshuggah, and all points in between. So climb aboard and put your horns, and the volume, way up.

Frankie 10:02:45 PM
Good Evening, Taylor. 1st.
Taylor (host) 10:05:42 PM
Good evening, Frankie.
Frankie 10:08:15 PM
First Of All, I'm Very Disappointed About Chinese New Year's Being Canceled Because Of A Virus Going On In China. 😒
Taylor (host) 10:08:45 PM
I heard about that.
Taylor (host) 10:09:35 PM
They have to be safe, though. Thousands of people gathered together with a virus could be catastrophic.
Frankie 10:11:41 PM
Oh, I See. Well, I Never Celebrated Chinese New Year Before Because I'm Not Chinese.
ƧΞRϜ 10:12:33 PM
@Taylor play some Necrophagist. pls
Taylor (host) 10:12:43 PM
I'll see what I can do, Serf!
Frankie 10:13:48 PM
Hello, Serf
ƧΞRϜ 10:13:52 PM
how much did Corona beer pay the World Health peeps to name that virus?
ƧΞRϜ 10:14:16 PM
howdy All...
Taylor (host) 10:14:25 PM
Ha. Right? The joke I heard tonight was that the hardest part about treating it is fitting a lime into the IV.
Frankie 10:14:27 PM
How Are You Tonight, Serf?
ƧΞRϜ 10:17:43 PM
gΓΌt. emphasis on the ΓΌ
Frankie 10:19:32 PM
Ü? What Do You Mean Ü?
Anvil Lavigne 10:20:31 PM
That’s a good one, Beavis. I like that lime joke. Happy Friday.
Taylor (host) 10:20:54 PM
Happy Friday, Anvil!
Frankie 10:21:50 PM
Happy Friday, Anvil.
Taylor (host) 10:22:02 PM
Rolling with the derby name, I see.
Anvil Lavigne 10:24:25 PM
Thanks guys. My derby name was Dale Earnhurt Jr. This is my new nom de plume, or something.
Taylor (host) 10:24:48 PM
I like Anvil better.
Anvil Lavigne 10:25:25 PM
Me too.
Taylor (host) 10:25:32 PM
Also, the Anvil was half of the greatest tag team ever, so there's that.
ƧΞRϜ 10:26:12 PM
@Taylor was that a Demo reference?
Taylor (host) 10:26:32 PM
Demolition?
Anvil Lavigne 10:26:45 PM
It’s more lady-like than Dale. Is that wrestling?
Taylor (host) 10:26:50 PM
Wrong tag team. That was Ax and Smash. Then later, Crush.
Taylor (host) 10:27:06 PM
Indeed.
ƧΞRϜ 10:27:53 PM
phew... thank goodness i still know nothing about wrestling
Taylor (host) 10:28:22 PM
Ha. I don't follow it anymore. But my '80s and '90s fandom was large.
ƧΞRϜ 10:39:41 PM
next break talk about the museum free for all day tomorrow @Taylor
Taylor (host) 10:39:54 PM
For sure. I've got that one pulled out.
ƧΞRϜ 10:41:20 PM
Araya sure likes his fabrics! satin
Taylor (host) 10:41:28 PM
Hail Satin!
ƧΞRϜ 10:44:02 PM
I liked how King wore that fore-arm spike shield to stop people from grabbing his arm while he's play
ƧΞRϜ 10:44:25 PM
+ing...
Taylor (host) 10:45:23 PM
Ha. It definitely did the trick.
ƧΞRϜ 11:13:05 PM
you're quite a few away from Deicide....
Taylor (host) 11:14:07 PM
I know. I think for whatever reason, "D" is the largest list of bands I have in my collection.
Taylor (host) 11:14:19 PM
I still have a full shelf before I get to Deicide.
ƧΞRϜ 11:21:41 PM
respect. you're a true Metal aficionado @Taylor!
Taylor (host) 11:22:14 PM
Thank you, sir. It's more of an obsession at this point, but your word is much nicer.
Taylor (host) 11:22:45 PM
There are just too many awesome bands out there, and I'm still finding more all the time.
Anvil Lavigne 11:41:26 PM
I’m being terrorized by a toddler tonight. Your music is helping me stay sane.
Taylor (host) 11:43:10 PM
Ha. Usually, my music does the terrorizing. Glad to hear it works the other way around, too.
Anvil Lavigne 11:44:57 PM
It sure does.
Taylor (host) 11:46:54 PM
I'll make sure I get some Bathory in the next set for you to help ease the pain a bit more.
Anvil Lavigne 11:49:35 PM
Thanks! The darkness will make watching Frozen for the 220th time more enjoyable.
Dave 11:51:40 PM
Good evening Taylor! \m/
Taylor (host) 11:52:28 PM
Good evening Dave!
Taylor (host) 11:52:35 PM
I thought she moved on to Coco...
Dave 11:53:32 PM
Just enjoying the Friday night sickness!
Taylor (host) 11:54:13 PM
Glad to hear that, sir.
Taylor (host) 11:54:37 PM
It's been a pretty brutal show. I guess I forgot to bring some pretty songs.
Anvil Lavigne 11:54:47 PM
Me too. But that’s part of the terror. She’s never happy and changes her mind every two minutes.
Dave 11:57:00 PM
There's nothing pretty about this show...that's the beauty of it! (wait, does that even make sense?)
Taylor (host) 11:57:28 PM
Ha. Actually, I think you said it perfectly. That should be our new slogan.
Dave 12:01:24 AM
Works for me! Just as long as I get 15% of the royalties from the slogan! I'll have my attorneys call the station's attorneys in the morning and set up the details. (Haha!! Just kidding, of course!)
Frankie 12:01:36 AM
I Haven't Cannibal Corpse In A While. I Don't Think I Heard That Song Before.
Taylor (host) 12:02:04 AM
Ha. You can have 15% of my $0, Dave. I'll gladly hand that over.
Taylor (host) 12:02:19 AM
That was kind of a hidden gem, Frankie.
Anvil Lavigne 12:03:14 AM
I like that too, Dave.
Taylor (host) 12:03:34 AM
But I'm going to totally ruin that by playing something pretty right now.
Dave 12:04:43 AM
lol!! That sounds just like the title of a Seasick Steve album: "I Started Out with Nothing and Still Have Most of It Left"
Taylor (host) 12:07:30 AM
I heard the U2 song "One" the other day for the first time in forever. I can barely listen to them anymore. But I heard that line in there "you gave me nothing, now it's all I got" and it made me remember, "oh, yeah, they used to be a great band."
Dave 12:11:21 AM
I used to hate U2 back in the '80s, but now I love all their material up through The Joshua Tree album, and their All That You Can't Leave Behind album. Everything else they do is kind of questionable for me.
Taylor (host) 12:11:52 AM
I love the early stuff and about 3/4 of Joshua Tree. But Achtung Baby is my record.
Taylor (host) 12:12:19 AM
Edge's guitar playing on that record is superb, and Brian Eno really brought out the texture in the tunes.
Dave 12:12:39 AM
My record by them is The Unforgettable Fire.
Taylor (host) 12:12:49 AM
That's a great one too.
Taylor (host) 12:13:27 AM
My first job was at comic store, and there was very little music everyone could agree on that was suitable to play during store hours. So we listened to a whole lot of U2. And R.E.M.
Dave 12:13:34 AM
Yeah, Brian Eno is a studio whiz!
Taylor (host) 12:15:50 AM
But once the store closed, it was GWAR, Pantera, and Body Count. Non-stop. And louder than you can imagine.
Dave 12:16:23 AM
Ha! That sounds awesome!!
Taylor (host) 12:16:31 AM
It was. A perfect first job.
Frankie 12:17:23 AM
Okay. I Was Away From The Chat Room For A While But Now I'm Back.
Taylor (host) 12:17:34 AM
Welcome back, Frankie.
Frankie 12:18:31 AM
Taylor, Did You Bring In Institutionalized By Suicidal Tendencies With You Tonight?
Taylor (host) 12:18:46 AM
I did, indeed.
Frankie 12:19:29 AM
Yes. Good. 😎 πŸ‘Œ
Taylor (host) 12:19:38 AM
Got you covered, my friend.
Anvil Lavigne 12:23:23 AM
I liked Samael.
Taylor (host) 12:24:01 AM
Awesome! I haven't played them forever. I always forget how cool and unusual their first couple records are.
Dave 12:28:08 AM
I once had a job where the shift started at 4am. I burned a whole bunch of CDs so we all could listen to while working. They were mostly classic rock, since that's what most everyone could agree on, especially the bosses. On one of the discs, I slipped in "Seasons in the Abyss" by Slayer. One of my co-workers was shocked when I burned it on there. He said "I knew you said you were going to do it, but I didn't actually think you'd go through with it!" He was a HUGE metal fan!
Anvil Lavigne 12:28:23 AM
πŸ™‚ And this. Thanks!
Dave 12:29:08 AM
Another guy came up to me and personally thanked me for including Slayer in the tunes!
Frankie 12:30:03 AM
Is That From Maniac (1980)?
Taylor (host) 12:30:17 AM
Good call, Frankie. It is.
Taylor (host) 12:30:58 AM
Ha. Nice, Dave!
Frankie 12:32:38 AM
What A Gory Movie It Was. There's A Remake With Elijah Wood.
Taylor (host) 12:33:04 AM
I've seen both. The remake actually wasn't bad.
Taylor (host) 12:33:24 AM
The first one's hard to watch, but it's supposed to be.
Anvil Lavigne 12:38:37 AM
We should check out that ballet class.
Taylor (host) 12:38:59 AM
Ha. We're too young! Otherwise, I'd totally take ballet classes with you.
Dave 12:39:42 AM
Have you heard the cover/seen the video of "Institutionalized" by Body Count? Ice-T absolutely KILLS IT!!! Killer song, and a hilarious video!
Taylor (host) 12:40:12 AM
I have. Yeah, it's pretty rad. Nothing touches the original, though.
Anvil Lavigne 12:40:54 AM
Oh, I thought we were all seniors here. The Body Count version is funny.
Taylor (host) 12:42:16 AM
You're not a senior yet, Anvil. You may feel like it when Rora has you worn out, but you've got a long way to go.
Dave 12:42:32 AM
The original is still the best, I agree! But Body Count gave them a good run for their money, I thought.
Taylor (host) 12:43:24 AM
That's because Ice-T is the O.G.
Frankie 12:43:30 AM
Alright. Thanks For The Request, Taylor.
Taylor (host) 12:43:40 AM
You got it, Frankie!
Anthony 12:44:13 AM
*air guitar
Taylor (host) 12:44:47 AM
Was that for the Obituary, Anthony?
Frankie 12:45:22 AM
I Thought O.G. Means Original Gadget. I Must Be Thinking On I.G. Which Stands For Inspector Gadget.
Taylor (host) 12:46:04 AM
O.G. = Original Gangsta. Although, Inspector Gadget was pretty gangsta, roo.
Taylor (host) 12:46:14 AM
* too
Anvil Lavigne 12:46:28 AM
That’s funny, Frankie.
Anvil Lavigne 12:46:42 AM
Roo.
Anthony 12:47:09 AM
Lol, well actually it's for all the music you play on this station. :) But yes for Obituary.
Taylor (host) 12:47:42 AM
Dang, dude. This show's three hours! That's a lot of air guitar. You should enter the championships with that kind of stamina.
Dave 12:47:58 AM
The character of Odafin Tutuola (played by Ice-T) on Law & Order: SVU is my favorite on that show. He's the most bad-ass cop EVER!!
Frankie 12:48:13 AM
Anybody Watched Inspector Gadget When We Were Kids? Anyone Saw Inspector Gadget 2 Starring French Stewart?
Taylor (host) 12:48:25 AM
Yeah, but he did it first in New Jack City. Such a badass in that movie.
Taylor (host) 12:48:40 AM
I totally watched Gadget, Frankie. I never saw the 2, though.
Dave 12:49:03 AM
I remember that movie...that was ages ago!
Taylor (host) 12:49:13 AM
Actually, O.G. is probably my favorite hip-hop record of all time, now that I think of it.
Anthony 12:49:34 AM
lol
Frankie 12:50:14 AM
Oh. Well, I Saw Parts Of New Jack City On VHS Years Ago But I Never Saw The Ending Of It.
Taylor (host) 12:50:29 AM
It's a good movie, man. I still watch it every now and again.
Dave 12:50:35 AM
I think he's finally "atoned" for all the "Cop Killer" controversy from back in the day.
Frankie 12:51:17 AM
Oh. I Miss VHS And Its Video Rentals.
Anvil Lavigne 12:51:25 AM
Ice-T is just a badass in general. I need to see that movie.
Taylor (host) 12:51:38 AM
He should have never had to. I'm just glad I still have my copy from before he removed it from the record. Ironically, that's not even the most offensive song on the album.
Taylor (host) 12:51:54 AM
I own it, Anvil. Screening anytime you want.
Frankie 12:52:12 AM
I Don't Remember The Cop Killer Controversy.
Taylor (host) 12:52:25 AM
It went all the way to the Supreme Court.
Dave 12:52:26 AM
And don't forget about good 'ol Snoop Dogg! Now there's an O.G.!
Taylor (host) 12:52:50 AM
In the end, he gave into the pressure from his label and deleted it from the album.
Anvil Lavigne 12:53:00 AM
Cool. I’m picturing some Body Count/Inspector Gadget cartoon crossover. Damn.
Anthony 12:53:05 AM
Taylor, are you still scheduled for only once, next week?
Taylor (host) 12:53:27 AM
I'm just on Fridays, sir.
Taylor (host) 12:53:37 AM
Cool Body Count story for you...
Taylor (host) 12:53:53 AM
When they were playing Lollapalooza, it was at the height of the controversy.
Frankie 12:54:09 AM
I Remember It Was Mentioned On An Episode Of VH1's Behind The Music.
Taylor (host) 12:54:16 AM
So they get to Arizona, and the local police force joins forces with the venue security.
Frankie 12:54:33 AM
Oh.
Taylor (host) 12:54:59 AM
They say they will not provide security or any sort of emergency response for the show unless Ice-T signs a contract promising the band will not perform the song "Copkiller."
Taylor (host) 12:55:40 AM
Without security, the whole show would have to be canceled. So, Ice-T does what the promoters ask: he signs a contract promising that Body Count will not play "Copkiller."
Taylor (host) 12:56:12 AM
Soundgarden gets wind of this... They learn the song that day and cover the song "Copkiller" during their set in the name of free speech.
Taylor (host) 12:56:20 AM
Now, THAT'S badass.
Dave 12:56:49 AM
I remember the 2 Live Crew controversy, as well as Public Enemy's "911, It's a Joke" controversy. Those early hip-hop artists definitely got a bad rap (no pun intended...well, maybe!)
Anthony 12:56:51 AM
lol
Anvil Lavigne 12:56:57 AM
That is a cool story. Thanks for the education.
Dave 12:58:32 AM
Thanks for the great Touch of Evil show, and all the great chat! Take care, be safe, and I will hear you again next week. Thanks again, and good night!
Anthony 12:58:59 AM
Thanks for the music!
Frankie 12:59:35 AM
I'll Chat With You Again Next Friday Night. Have A Nice Weekend & Good Night, Taylor.
Taylor (host) 1:00:10 AM
Thank you all for listening! Always a pleasure to chat with each of you. Until next week...
