I remember that Tesla cover, Dave! it was good!

Not so new by now, I probably first heard it about 15 years ago from the web comedy series of that name. I think the term more specifically refers to lite rock/easy listening from the late 70s and early 80s.

A long shot here. Do you happen to have a copy of the 1962 tune "Bustin' Surfboards" by the I.E. group THE TORNADOES? It was used in the "Pulp Fuction" soundtrack.

Yeah, it was very good! It was from their album titled "Five Man Acoustic Jam".
