Jon Valdez 10:02:55 PM
Hey Now Boss Guy!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:03:12 PM

Jon Valdez 10:04:49 PM

Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:09:54 PM
I'm not Jon! i just did my last Soul Satisfaction this past Wednesday, but Sundays are still rollin' along for the fall semester.
Jon Valdez (1) 10:12:54 PM
Glad to hear that Sundays are still happening. Hey, how about a little Smokestack Lightnin’ by Howlin’ Wolf? Thanks
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:13:21 PM
sure, if I have it with me, Jon!
Robert Z 10:19:16 PM
hey everybody hey Bossguy!
Robert Z 10:19:57 PM
I'd like to hear some John Mayall if you have any....
Dave 10:20:26 PM
Why is there an album cover of The Lovin' Spoonful for the Spinitron entry for The Paul Butterfield Blues Band?
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:20:38 PM
Hey RobertZ!
Robert Z 10:20:26 PM
...the Bluesbreakers
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:20:56 PM
I've got some Mayall for you, RobertZ!
Robert Z 10:20:43 PM
right on , daddyo!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:21:18 PM
you're welcome!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:22:16 PM
It's a compilation blues record, Dave!
Dave 10:23:00 PM
Is it a various artists compilation?
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:24:02 PM
yup
Dave 10:26:17 PM
Oh, okay. Is that the one with the band Powerhouse on it?
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:26:46 PM
Not sure, but I think so, Dave!
Robert Z 10:27:02 PM
wasnt aware Mayall had stuff w/Slow Hand
Robert Z 10:27:16 PM

Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:27:26 PM
I played the Butterfield from an actual Butterfield record, Dave! Spinitron doing their thing again!
Allegedly Armando of the I.E. 10:27:40 PM
Good Evening BOSS GUY. I'm here to attend the "Wake" for "The Coronavirus Blues Revival" program.
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:28:15 PM
Yeah, the first Blues Breakers album was withEric Clapton, before forming Cream, RobertZ!
Dave 10:28:31 PM
If I recall, it's a supergroup one-off project with Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood in it.
Dave 10:28:53 PM
What Butterfield LP is it from?
Robert Z 10:29:15 PM
I'm a big fan of the Yardbirds and Cream.....there's one more Clapton record to look for
Robert Z 10:29:47 PM
we missed our Record Xpo this time around but maybe just maybe we'll get one in Feb
JF 10:30:28 PM
Freakin' Do It John...YEAH!!!
Robert Z 10:30:55 PM
love this song too....good request..."let that boy boogie woogi"
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:32:07 PM
Hey Armando! Ha, thanks for attending!
Robert Z 10:32:14 PM
strange but true coincidence:
Robert Z 10:32:41 PM
J. Lee Hooker and Carroll O'Connor died on the same day (roughly 10 years back)
Robert Z 10:32:59 PM
and their stars are back to back on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
JF 10:33:06 PM
Thnx as always...Boogie Chillen was Hooker's breakout hit, but any John Lee is good with me (poet, don't know it - Wah Ha Ha)!!!
Robert Z 10:33:11 PM
(i mean they already were)
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:34:28 PM
Oops! slow on the draw once again..haha!
Dave 10:35:18 PM
No such a bad thing being slow on the draw! ; )
JF 10:35:52 PM
Thnx fer the double shot buddy!!!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:36:20 PM
ha, thanks Dave!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:36:41 PM
you're very welcome, Jeff!
Dr.T 10:37:52 PM
Evening Boss Guy and Bluesters, I'm arriving unfashionably late tonight
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:38:46 PM
Hey Dr.T! Glad you arrived with what looks like the coronavirus as a profile pic!?...haha!
Christine 10:38:53 PM
I just heard the good soul news, and I don’t have the blues!
Dr.T 10:39:48 PM
Yeah The coronavirus BLUE
Christine 10:39:27 PM
Great song.
JF 10:40:10 PM
Never heard this cover before...nice jam!!!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:41:49 PM
Hey Christine! I'm really excited to be doing the soul show again myself! I barely had time to even miss it...haha!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:42:06 PM
Yeah, climax blues are great, Christine!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:42:21 PM
The Climax blues song, Jeff??
JF 10:42:43 PM
Yeah, me and Christine agree!!!!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:43:29 PM
Cool!!
Dave 10:49:25 PM
Oh boy, we're swingin' now!
JF 10:49:19 PM
Great Skat!!!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:50:23 PM
Yeah man!!
JF 10:51:00 PM
Clark Terry used to be on the Tonight Show Band...great trumpet player too!!!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:52:09 PM
Was he really? I didn't know that, Jeff!
Dave 10:52:45 PM
I did not know that! [in Johnny Carson voice]
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:53:38 PM
Lol!!
Dave 10:56:41 PM
Could you play "Love in Vain" by Robert Johnson and "Blind Man" by Traffic?
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 10:58:17 PM
Not sure I have either one of those dave!
Dave 11:01:01 PM
"Blind Man" is from the Last Exit LP (if the station has it in their library). I'm guessing they don't have "I Smell a Rat" by Buddy Guy either.
Dave 11:04:19 PM
How about Keef Hartley Band's "Just to Cry" and "Somebody Knockin' On My Door" by Howlin' Wolf?
Frankie 11:05:13 PM
Good Bluesy Evening, Boss Guy.
Frankie 11:05:37 PM
Rest In Peace, Peter Green.
Dr.T 11:07:00 PM
The grooviest thing Pepsi ever did
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:07:33 PM
Yeah, I've looked for that Buddy Guy in library a couple of times now, Dave and haven't seen it!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:07:57 PM
Haha, so true, Dr.T! Those are pretty fun!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:08:04 PM
Hey Frankie!
Frankie 11:08:54 PM
The King. πŸ‘‘
Dave 11:09:23 PM
Then are Keef Hartley and Howlin' Wolf okay for tonight?
JF 11:10:20 PM
There's a James Gang Live album recorded at Carnegie Hall in '71, they did a killer cover of an Albert King song "You're Gonna Need Me". If you don't have it you ought to give it a listen, I gotta get it now. According to the 'Wiki' entry for the album there are "audience recordings" on the Intra-web of songs not on the album so you can check it out 'sans purchase'!!!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:11:55 PM
don't have it, Jeff!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:20:59 PM
Dave, I can't find that particular song by Howlin' and I'm gonna close out the show with Born To Die by Hartley. Just to Cry is more suitable for Sunday night!
Frankie 11:21:25 PM
That Harmonica At The Beginning Of That Rory Gallagher Song Remains Of Larvell Jones (Michael Winslow) From The First Police Academy Movie From 1984.
Dave 11:21:58 PM
Okay.
BroManKurt 11:23:00 PM

Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:23:43 PM
Hey BroManKurt!
Dave 11:24:15 PM
I detect TWO songs here: "John Lee Hooker's "Boogie Chillun'" and Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky".
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:25:14 PM
Dave, I found a Howlin' tune called "Somebody Walkin' In My Home", is that the song you requested?
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:26:02 PM
I hear them two songs too, Dave! We know who Norman Greenbaum stole his riff from...haha!
JF 11:26:19 PM
Hey Kurt, do 'the critters' have the blues tonight???
Dave 11:26:49 PM
Yeah, that'll work...it's basically the same song structure with a slightly altered arrangement with a different title and lyrics. Thanks!
Dr.T 11:27:02 PM
Love all the nick names...for Canned heat. Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson: guitar, harmonica, vocals Β· Bob "The Bear" Hite: vocals, harmonica Β· Harvey "The Snake" Mandel: guitar
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:27:06 PM
okay, up soon Dave!
Dave 11:27:33 PM
Cool! Thanks!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:27:51 PM
Haha, yeah, just like all the original blues nicknames from the past, Dr.T!
Dr.T 11:28:22 PM
Goota have a good nick name
BroManKurt 11:28:02 PM
Happy critters they are with Any tunage from our Boss, even the Blues!!!πŸΎπŸ‘
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:28:38 PM
TRUE, Dr.T!
Dave 11:29:12 PM
"Blind Owl" Wilson was a real student of the blues!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:29:50 PM
so was Bob "The Bear" Hite!
BroManKurt 11:29:53 PM
And as U said, jeez that last tunes Riff sure did end up in Spirit in the Sky, I mean almost straight up!!!
Dave 11:31:23 PM
This Howlin' Wolf goes great with the Jack Daniels I'm drinking right now! ; )
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:31:43 PM
Haha, a perfect combo, Dave!
Dave 11:32:01 PM
You know it!!
Dave 11:34:20 PM
Well, it looks like if you're gonna keep doing the Soul Satisfaction shows, I had better get myself another bottle, maybe this time Southern Comfort, as that was Janis Joplin's drink of choice!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:36:00 PM
Man , I used to drink Southern Comfort all the time back in 1969/70 and puked a few times from it as well, Daver...haha!
BroManKurt 11:36:14 PM
Jack with Coke my Dave, or somethin else, or on its own on the roX, or No roX, or oh well just wonderin🀫
BroManKurt 11:40:28 PM
I used 2 drink a ton of Southern back in my Safari Bar days out in San Berdoo, but after a few ruff mornins at some point I just stopped that stuff, not all Liqour, just Southern Comfort!πŸ€ͺ😜
Dave 11:41:24 PM
Aah, you gotta pace yourself with liqueurs, Boss! They may not pack as big a punch as the spirits, so you chug more of it, and then BAM!!!...you are staring face-down into a toilet bowl at 6 in the morning!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:41:40 PM
That shit will kill you, BroManKurt!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:41:59 PM
Exactly, Dave!!
BroManKurt 11:41:53 PM
Well things are Perfect now with our mighty Zep!!!
Dave 11:42:44 PM
I take my Jack neat, as I do my Scotch.
Dave 11:43:49 PM
And being that Scotch is on average more expensive than whiskey or bourbon, I take my time and savor it.
Frankie 11:44:01 PM
Zeppelin!
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:44:36 PM
Yeah, but remember, I was only 17 years old when jugging Southern Comfort, Dave! No patience in getting stupid drunk in the those days.
BroManKurt 11:45:58 PM
I kno that’s the way the Pros all do it Dave, & so U are then my man!πŸ’ͺπŸ₯ƒπŸ˜œ
BroManKurt 11:48:48 PM
Wow, β€œBorn to Die” is incredible!!! Perfect last traK!
Dr.T 11:49:35 PM
Thank you for a great summer series of the Blues Boss Guy. You helped a lot of people through a lotta stuff...
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:49:46 PM
My pleasure Dr.T! i'm glad it helped us get through our coronavirus blues together!
Christine 11:49:58 PM
Great song to end it. Goodnight and thanks for the music, BG.
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:50:29 PM
Thanks, BroManKurt! This song never gets old for me!
Dave 11:50:48 PM
In my teens and early 20s, I would mix my alcohols...whiskey, gin, vodka, bourbon, rum, brandy, beer, wine, etc. I would get a more severe drunk without having to drink nearly as much in volume. And if mixed with medications you have to take, that really could spell the end for someone (I'm lucky I survived all that shit!)
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:51:13 PM
Thanks, Christine! It's the blues at it's best for sure. Good night!
Frankie 11:52:00 PM
Goodnight, Boss Guy. πŸ˜ͺ 😴 πŸŒ™
Boss Guy In Claremont (host) 11:53:40 PM
