And for the record, JF, there are very few tracks that I've been able to play that don't have bass in them. Usually it's the organ-led stuff where the organist is playing bass with the left hand or the pedals.

Might be fun to go diving and see all the octopi down there. Though, I'm not known to be a great swimmer.

Well, that sounds like fun! I haven't been to Catalina in over a decade.

if you do go back, the nicest part of it is the much less populated town of Two Harbors...opposite Avalon but you can get there by boat in a few hours...it's where the other end of the island is pinched into a strip of land you can walk back and forth in--a small harbor at each side

about a 20m walk apart

then if you never took the tram up to the Airport in the Sky near the highest elevation on the island, I highly recommend that too

Never been to both Two Harbors or the tram. All I did was rent a golf cart and cruise around Avalon. It was a nice time, but yeah, there's more to the island than the tourist spots.

I think I've been a few times. I actually played a jazz gig in Avalon (with my middle school jazz band)

I even considered living there once but after a while I might get rock island fever....even in Hawaii people talk about the how isolated you feel sometimes on an island

Yeah. I could see how that could be the case. At least with Catalina, you're just a boat ride away from the mainland. Hawaii is really way out there!

ofc, Kovacs goes way way back....if you know the name...he was in "Bell Book and Candle" with Kim Novak too...later than his old black and white show...and there's a biopic of him w/Jeff Goldblum

To make matters more confusing, this jazz Nairobi Trio are a quintet. Yeah!

watched a best of w/my pops many years ago...definitely more his era....funny stuff to this day if you can find it
