Papa, this was a distributor I had placed an order with before, and he emailed me to tell me he was doing a 50% special on all his discs. So I kinda went crazy with his catalog.

That Decomposed disc came from that lot. And another band coming up in the next hour that will stomp your brain to jelly.

My only regret today is I only have one earbud. 🤯😼

I've definitely played this band before. It's one of my favorite records, but it's the only thing they ever released.

That's kinda cool that there's labels that you guys trust. You can say send me the music because you have trust in what they specialize in.

I've ordered from places all over the world and rarely had a bad experience, truthfully. Metal fans are cool people no matter what country they're in.

The Bands I meet after the shows are some of the most gracious, friendly people around. There are some labels I've dealt with for more than 20 years (dam, I'm old) Great people. I pay them with the paypal "friend" terms.

Just out of curiosity but do you have to be careful what you play between 8 and 10 because of FCC guidelines? Do you have permission for the indecent material before 10?

in 1 sitting yeah, but over 2 weeks? not so bad....

I do, Papa. I screened all the tracks from 8-10 very carefully to make sure nothing slipped through. Technically, I'm only covered after 10pm. Of course, it really only applies if someone complains, but better safe than sorry.

I feel like anyone who might be offended by a naughty word would turn this show off after 3 seconds, but I like to cover my bases.

People are offended by everything these days. I appreciate you being careful. Don't anything to happen to your show.

One kinda bad thing tonight: I had to come to the studio straight from work, so the only coffee I have is the cold stuff leftover in my thermos from 10:00 this morning.

Ha! But I've been telling his .gif for the last six weeks!

A lot of times when I make a pot of coffee in the morning (it’s only a two-cup pot, since the wife doesn’t drink coffee), I usually drink just one cup and I’ll chill the other cup in the fridge. Later on, I’ll mix sugar, milk and ice cubes in the chilled coffee and basically have a homemade DIY latte of sorts (many times to drink while listening to yours or John’s shows). Otherwise, I always drink my hot coffee black.

.gif's are like kids, they only hear what the want to hear.

I'd be fine if it was a latte, but it's literally coffee I made 12 hours ago. This may be the first time I've ever come into the studio for a show without being strapped with hot coffee.

Oh and speaking of presents, I'm getting myself an early bday gift for myself :D I dont think I told you all but I'm doing the 3saints hikes challenge which are the three tallest mountains in SoCal. I did Mt Baldy (San Antonio) last month , San Jacinto (2 weekends ago) and will be doing Mt San Gorgonio next month so I'm buying myself a tent and backpack to camp out up at the summit. I'm hoping to be able to do Mt Whitney someday as well :D

MeowmeowSKAi: I hiked up to the summit of Mt. Whitney back in 1992. It was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had! There was so much beautiful scenery along the trail, but the most beautiful scenery was along the final half mile to the summit. Bright blue sky, clear blue lakes, patches of snow here and there, etc. I hope you get the chance to go up Mt. Whitney one day.

That sounds amazing! I am working towards that goal :D did you end up camping up there or finished it in a day?

We started out at a campsite just outside of Lone Pine (8,500 ft. elevation). We then hiked up to the base camp at 12,000 ft. in elevation. We arrived there in the mid afternoon during a torrential downpour (makes for a most interesting experience of setting up your tent, haha!)

We then started up toward the summit the next morning, stayed up at the summit for around half an hour, then headed back toward the base camp. We stayed there overnight, then headed back to Lone Pine the next day. A most wonderful experience, to say the least!

There was a little house at the summit built of stone which was once used as a geographical/astronomical observatory in the early 1900s, but was then used primarily as a shelter for any hikers/climbers who got caught in the rain or even a lightning storm (yes, people have been killed by lightning up on the summit or along the trail). I think the house still stands to this day, I’m not positive though.

I saw a stone house at San Jacinto for emergency use as well. That sounds like a memorable experience for sure Dave. I've actually never gone camping before so the last hike really wiped me out on the way down. My knees were killing me and I thought to myself that if it started to rain (it was quite foggy and drizzling on the base of the mountain) and if I had gotten caught up in that rain without any protection I could have gotten hypothermia. I went alone, winds up to 50mph at the top.

Told myself I need to be better prepared for the next hike since it will be a lot tougher

SKAi: back when I went up Mt. Whitney, we rented our camping gear from REI, so I’m not exactly sure if it would be more cost effective to rent vs. buying. Perhaps it all depends how much hiking/camping you do. I only did it on rare occasions. Maybe one of the staff at a place like REI, Bass Pro Shops, etc. would have useful info that would help you out.

I still have yet to see that movie (Deliverance), but I’ve heard so much about it over the years that I feel as if I have seen it already. Yet at the same time, I don’t know if I would want to see it, having to witness that display of the lower depths of human psychology.

I heard about it my whole life and it had all this notoriety, but when I finally sat down to watch it, it was actually pretty meh.

Just want to go back a little and give Geezer his due. When great bass players are brought up, he is rarely mentioned, if at all. His work gets overlooked.

I think Geezer is the anchor of that band.

I was in so much better shape back then (in 1992; I think we all were). I have so many health issues now, I can barely get up four flights of stairs to the third floor at my apartment, let alone hike up a mountain 14,494 ft. up in the sky (Mt. Whitney is the highest point in the 48 contiguous United States; higher than any mountain in the U.S. Rocky Mountains).

I have a subscription to Bass Player magazine, and Geezer gets PLENTY of love in that mag! He is easily considered the father of metal bass and one of the greatest bassists in all of rock (or any genre for that matter). Dave, I tend to hike at the very least once a month since I joined a hiking group but have tried to stick to weekend hikes at least 3 miles. I've seen that I can rent from REI for a good price but I want to buy something that will last me a while since I do plan on keeping up with the hiking group and using the gear as much as possible. I don't know much about scary camping movies but that's also a fear of mine lol I want to try and get over that fear and camp out soon because of it

The one thing I know about camping is Never Alone. Unless you’re a Marine or such as.

And bear proof food locker.

Heard about 30 minutes on the car ride home. Caught Suffocation

Be careful not to get out hiking at a quick pace, especially in higher elevations. You are more likely to increase your chances of getting altitude sickness that way. When I went up Mt. Whitney, I felt great physically, and basically took off on my own, would stop and wait for everyone, then take off again. When I got to the base camp at 12,000 ft., the altitude eventually caught up to me and I vomited because of it. Mother Nature humbled my ass right then and there!

The next morning, when I decided I felt good enough to hike to the summit, it took it much more slowly, and stopped frequently and drank plenty of water along the way. Keeping well hydrated will help ward off altitude sickness. This way I paced myself better, after all it was not a race, and I got to enjoy the scenery much more.

Aaahh, I miss the fishing trips I used to go on with my cousin, uncle and Dad. I would sleep in a tent on the hard ground with rocks jutting up out of the ground and into my back… ha, good times!!

When I find a spider in my apartment, I gently scoop it up in a cup and set it outdoors. They no doubt will help control the flying insect population outside from getting into my apartment. And if the spiders don’t work on the moths and flies, my two cats will! Especially my forest cat, Emily Mae!
