Touch of Evil

Jul 29, 2022 10:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Specialty

With Taylor

A morbid menagerie of past and future metal classics melded into a chaotic cacophony of sinister sounds for bleeding ears. Death is no escape here; in fact, it's where we begin our journey. This ride stops at Maiden, Mayhem, Melvins, Meshuggah, and all points in between. So climb aboard and put your horns, and the volume, way up.

Good evil-ning Taylor and everyone listening to the sick and disgusting tuneage from the underworld!
Taylor (host) 10:02:07 PM
Good evil-ning, Dave!
Papa Rich 10:02:43 PM
Brothers and Sisters….It’s time to kick out the jams!
Dave 10:02:57 PM
Very CREEPY intro here!
Taylor (host) 10:02:59 PM
Ha. You've come to the right place for that, Papa!
Papa Rich 10:03:53 PM
Speaking of creepy…Dave, your profile pic.
Taylor (host) 10:04:13 PM
For real, man! That looks awesome.
Frank Demian 10:04:48 PM
Hey Taylor, and everyone in the Empire of Evil
Taylor (host) 10:04:56 PM
Howdy, Frank!
Taylor (host) 10:05:02 PM
Nice to have you back, man!
Taylor (host) 10:05:13 PM
Empire Of Evil... I love it.
Dave 10:05:34 PM
EXCELLENT way to start the show… that opening track by Pig Destroyer, and now this classick by Sabbath!
Frank Demian 10:05:57 PM
I had such a good time last week, wouldn't miss this for the world!
Papa Rich 10:06:00 PM
Ha! I love the Empire of Evil.
Taylor (host) 10:06:25 PM
Just had to make sure I have everyone's attention before I unleash the next banger. It took me like 6 weeks to finally listen to the new record by one of my favorite bands, and now I feel stupid because it's a freaking masterpiece.
Taylor (host) 10:06:40 PM
You're in for a treat next.
Mike Anderson 10:06:45 PM
HELLo Everyone!!
Taylor (host) 10:06:52 PM
HELLo, Mike!
Papa Rich 10:07:09 PM
6 weeks?
Taylor (host) 10:07:19 PM
Got some great heads in the room tonight. So great to see all you gentlemen.
Taylor (host) 10:07:39 PM
Ha. Yeah, I must be a bad fan. Either that, or I've been working everyday.
Taylor (host) 10:08:13 PM
I wanted to give it a proper sit down listen, and I just never had the time. But I finally did so, and it was worth the wait.
Dave 10:08:13 PM
Good evil-ning Papa, Frank and Mike!
Frank Demian 10:09:46 PM
Hey Dave the Knave!
Frank Demian 10:10:29 PM
I'll go ahead and give anyone a nickname free of charge
Papa Rich 10:13:45 PM
With the price of everything, I’ll take free.
Mike Anderson 10:14:51 PM
Dave with another trippy gif
Frank Demian 10:14:51 PM
Here you go Pulverizer Papa Rich
Taylor (host) 10:15:17 PM
Ha. Yes! Pulverizer Papa.
Taylor (host) 10:15:34 PM
Goes well with Morbid Mike and Diabolical Dave.
Taylor (host) 10:16:03 PM
And of course Firespitter Frank.
Frank Demian 10:16:04 PM
I'll be Demon Frank Demian
Taylor (host) 10:16:28 PM
Now I feel like I'm inventing Garbage Pail Kids.
Mike Anderson 10:16:29 PM
I like the sound of that!!
Papa Rich 10:16:34 PM
Ha! I’ll take it. Nice work Taylor on those nicknames.
Taylor (host) 10:17:02 PM
I'm a big fan of alliteration, as anyone who's ever seen the show's weekly Facebook posts can attest.
Frank Demian 10:17:37 PM
Firespitting Frank the Demon Demian
Taylor (host) 10:18:12 PM
If that was announced as a performance, I'd definitely go see it.
Papa Rich 10:18:26 PM
That’s a tongue twister.
Frank Demian 10:19:21 PM

Taylor (host) 10:22:27 PM
Ha. That's kinda the plan every week.
Papa Rich 10:22:30 PM
Frank, you gotta start charging. Taylor, I think you could be the next P.T. Barnum
Mike Anderson 10:22:44 PM
My dad had some evil tendencies in his day! LOL!!
Taylor (host) 10:23:18 PM
Can't, Papa. I've seen too many horror movies that take place at carnivals. The carnie life kinda freaks me out.
Dave 10:23:52 PM
When I first heard “Children of the Grave” (Master of Reality being one of my earliest LPs) back in junior high, I had a particularly harrowing and scary experience listening to it. It was around the time I was first introduced to weed, and I believe it might have been laced with something. I was hearing things in the song that I later realized weren’t actually there, and I never heard them again.
Papa Rich 10:24:02 PM
So, Austin Powers wasn’t alone in his fears…
Dave 10:24:11 PM
But one thing that was there… at the end of the song where you hear the whispering of “children of the grave…”, there’s some sort of sound, like a clarinet or a recorder being played… that part still makes me feel a little ill at ease.
Taylor (host) 10:24:23 PM
Ha. I'm sure Black Sabbath would have loved knowing they had that effect on you at the time.
Taylor (host) 10:24:45 PM
That part is trippy as hell in the headphones. I've definitely noticed that the few times I've ended a set with it.
Dave 10:25:37 PM
Ha! Diabolical Dave… I like it!
Mike Anderson 10:29:12 PM
Faithless Father Frank Demian of the Dammed!!
Taylor (host) 10:29:38 PM
You dudes are wicked tonight. That's perfect for this playlist.
Papa Rich 10:30:01 PM
Remember when you had to agonize over remember stuff? Talking about carnies, I was trying to remember that movie about circus folks. Freaks! Information at my fingertips.
Frank Demian 10:30:19 PM
This band playing might suggest a tweak to Mike Anderson-of-Sathanas
Taylor (host) 10:30:34 PM
If you're in the mood for an alternate, Tobe Hooper's The Funhouse is one of my all-time favorites.
Taylor (host) 10:31:37 PM
One of the greatest taglines in movie history, too: "Pay to get in... pray to get out."
Papa Rich 10:32:11 PM
Sounds like a warning for time shares.
Taylor (host) 10:32:20 PM
HA!
Frank Demian 10:32:56 PM
If I'm not mistaken the footage of 1932 Freaks was incorporated into the entrance video of The Oddities from late 90's WWF fame
Taylor (host) 10:33:13 PM
You are correct about that, Frank.
Mike Anderson 10:33:31 PM
**Damned, My Apocalyptic Apologies
Taylor (host) 10:33:32 PM
It was also spoofed on an episode of South Park, among other places.
Frank Demian 10:34:35 PM
South Park spoofed The Maury Povich show, yeah, and Butters had to wear fake balls on his chin to get on the show!
Taylor (host) 10:34:50 PM
That's a classic one.
Frank Demian 10:39:02 PM
Was anyone creeped out in The Funhouse when the magic trick went awry and the audience participant was punctured by the stake? Only to reveal that it was a sham..
Taylor (host) 10:39:40 PM
That whole movie creeps me out. The atmosphere is off the charts.
Frank Demian 10:41:05 PM
Mike, "dammed" would also have worked for anyone not getting enough fiber in their diet
Dave 10:41:15 PM
The grim reaper with an outstretched hand in my gif/pic reminds me of Eddie from The Number of the Beast LP cover. As the view zooms in, it goes through a hole in his chest, and there’s another grim reaper, and it goes on for infinity!
Mike Anderson 10:42:05 PM
LOL!!
Papa Rich 10:43:10 PM
Ha! Gonna have to use that one Frank next time someone brings that up.
Frank Demian 10:43:40 PM
Those who are "dammed" must seek the Number of the Beans--and order Taco Bell
Dave 10:44:05 PM
This is turning out to be quite the epic playlist tonight! \m/
Taylor (host) 10:44:37 PM
Just getting started, dude.
Papa Rich 10:44:42 PM
This is pretty rad but I thought you were gonna play Slaughter?
Taylor (host) 10:45:08 PM
I forgot all about that!
Taylor (host) 10:45:28 PM
Damn, that's a really good record, too. I'll make sure I play it next week.
Frank Demian 10:45:49 PM
I can't wait
Dave 10:46:10 PM
Haha! VINYL!
Taylor (host) 10:46:27 PM
That's what happens when you pick music at 6:30am... it gets hard to remember what day it is, let alone what happened last Friday.
Papa Rich 10:49:17 PM
No worries. I’m probably not even thinking of the same Slaughter, so maybe it’s a good thing. Playlist so far is amazing enough.
Taylor (host) 10:49:45 PM
Ha. It's definitely not the same Slaughter, but they're really good.
Taylor (host) 10:50:09 PM
Ironically, the big album by the Slaughter you're thinking of has a whole carnival theme to the artwork.
Mike Anderson 10:50:10 PM
Slaughter To Prevail?
Frank Demian 10:50:19 PM
Slaughter Strappado
Taylor (host) 10:50:25 PM
Frank has it.
Taylor (host) 10:50:42 PM
They were actually really influential. Napalm Death even covered one of their songs.
Frank Demian 10:51:18 PM
Canadian Slaughter has Strappado, American Slaughter has Stick It To Ya
Frank Demian 10:51:49 PM
Slaughter To Prevail is in a class all its own
Taylor (host) 10:52:08 PM
I've still never heard that band.
Mike Anderson 10:56:47 PM
Alex Terrible is a maniac!!
Mike Anderson 10:58:50 PM
That Berzerker song sounds like something you'd hear in a Halloween haunted maze
Taylor (host) 10:59:30 PM
The band wears masks and costumes and such, so you may be onto something there.
Mike Anderson 11:04:50 PM
Slaughter to Prevail wear the kid of darkness mask. Looks sick!
Taylor (host) 11:05:29 PM
I've seen the mask, I've just missed their music somehow. I think they opened some show I went to, but I got there too late or something. I'll check out a couple tracks later!
Mike Anderson 11:06:38 PM
I don't think you'll be disappointed
Mike Anderson 11:07:28 PM
I came across them about 3 years ago
Frank Demian 11:09:01 PM
Mike , is every song of theirs in Russian?
Mike Anderson 11:10:08 PM
Some of their new stuff has some English but not too much
Taylor (host) 11:10:36 PM
The Russians crank out some awesome death metal, that's for sure.
Mike Anderson 11:12:57 PM
Alex Terrible does some crazy covers on his YouTube. He's done Taylor Swift in that deep guttural growl LOL!!
Papa Rich 11:13:13 PM
Berzerker, Russian metal… can’t help but think of the movie Clerks where Silent Bobs Russian cousin sings metal.
Taylor (host) 11:14:09 PM
My love for you is like a truck... Berzerker.
Frank Demian 11:14:09 PM
My love for you is like a truck Berzerker!
Taylor (host) 11:14:16 PM
Ha!
Frank Demian 11:14:31 PM
Wow twins
Mike Anderson 11:19:02 PM
Nothing but a G thing right now
Papa Rich 11:19:53 PM
Mini alphabet
Taylor (host) 11:22:53 PM
I even tossed in that Grave track since it's one I only have a promo copy of.
Dave 11:24:25 PM
On the subject of Russian metal, have you played any Black Shadow of late?
Taylor (host) 11:25:02 PM
I'm not sure the last time I played them, Dave. Pretty sure it's been a while, though.
Dave 11:26:20 PM
They’ve got some very brutal sounds!
Taylor (host) 11:26:49 PM
Yeah, they're a great band. I'll try to remember to grab them next week.
Frank Demian 11:27:47 PM
Dave , do you understand the Russian lyrics fluently, just wondering
Dave 11:38:47 PM
No, I am probably years away from ever being fluent. But there are certain words which I pick up on, and with a few familiar words in a sentence, I can get a basic idea of what is possibly being said. And especially when those words are in Cyrillic, it improves my ability to pronounce in Russian. Reading the Cyrillic alphabet isn’t too difficult, I just need to work on my vocabulary, grammar and comprehension. I’ll get there one day.
Frank Demian 11:52:09 PM
That's cool, I'd like to pick up a new language myself one day 👍
Dave 11:56:32 PM
All of their stamps said Почта СССР, which translates as “Pochta SSSR”, or USSR Post.
Dave 12:01:37 AM
Plus, the fact that I have Russian heritage from my grandmother on my Dad’s side, and I remember hearing her speak a some Russian phrases when I was growing up, only makes me more interested in learning the language. I also used to have a co-worker lady who was from originally from Russia. She helped me a lot with some of the basics.
Mike Anderson 12:03:53 AM
Don't know what's going on with my chat but I've only had 4 messages come through in the last 30 minutes. 3 from Dave, 1 from Frank
JF>SA 12:04:07 AM
G'd even'n guyz, just stopped by to drop a link. Hey Frank I found that Outer Limits episode I mentioned last night, enjoy! - The Outer Limits ( 1963-65 ) S01E28 - The Special One https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6kfw6z
Taylor (host) 12:04:46 AM
I think everyone's been pretty quiet, Mike. Those are all the messages during that span.
Dave 12:04:57 AM
Oh yeah… “Powerslave”! You know what I like!!
Mike Anderson 12:05:20 AM
Oh OK. Kept refreshing it but cool!!
Papa Rich 12:06:44 AM
Really? 30 minutes of minimal chat? We need to step up our game.
Frank Demian 12:07:19 AM
Hey thanks Jeff! , sure you can't stick around , I'll give you a cool nickname!
Taylor (host) 12:07:20 AM
I guess we were all swept up in the music.
Frank Demian 12:08:39 AM
I just assumed the chat went offline, I was getting separation anxiety
JF>SA 12:09:25 AM
I'll stick around for that... Hey Dave!
Dave 12:09:54 AM
Also, if you notice when Russians speak, they have sort of a natural sneer in their voice. They aren’t necessarily angry or being rude, but they do sound зла (or evil), and that’s kinda cool in a way, haha! Fits the weekly theme of this show, at least!
Frank Demian 12:13:50 AM
Jeff, your moniker in this chat will be Jagged Jugular Jeff
Mike Anderson 12:14:18 AM
профессор Dave!!
JF>SA 12:14:31 AM
Got it, thnx Frank!
Dave 12:14:32 AM
Привет, Джефф (Privyet, Jeff, or Hello, Jeff)
Papa Rich 12:14:35 AM
Anyone ever have a band they liked or felt were gonna be big but couldn’t get anyone you knew to listen to them? Especially if they didn’t really make it like you thought.
Taylor (host) 12:15:10 AM
You just described a big chunk of the bands I love, Papa.
Papa Rich 12:15:58 AM
There’s gotta be one you were passionate about but no one else was interested.
Taylor (host) 12:16:58 AM
I've played Cigarettes After Sex for a bunch of people who should have loved them based on the other bands they love, and they all just kinda went, "meh."
Frank Demian 12:17:11 AM
How big was Dimmu Borgir
Taylor (host) 12:17:21 AM
I'm like, really? You think Radiohead is brilliant, but this is doing nothing for you?
Mike Anderson 12:18:02 AM
Papa, that was me with Pantera. Everyone was on the Nirvana train and I was discovering Pantera.
Taylor (host) 12:19:52 AM
But I also really like having bands that are like my little secret. When a band I love gets huge, I'm of course really happy for them, but I do get bummed having to see them in an arena instead of at the Glass House.
Papa Rich 12:21:32 AM
I dug Fireball Ministry and thought people I knew who liked Sabbath would dig them but nope. I still dig the early records but I was wrong about how their career went.
Dave 12:23:08 AM
I remember back in junior high in 1982, I was one of probably only two or three students on campus who had ever heard of Iron Maiden. The Number of the Beast was brand spanking new, and I think it was a little too hard, loud and satanic for even the tough badass kids. I exposed my friends to it, and they started getting into it as well. And to think that Metallica and Slayer were just around the corner!
Taylor (host) 12:23:49 AM
That's me with Fear Factory. I got into them when the first record came out, and it was one of the coolest things I had ever heard (still is). Then Demanufacture came out and they started making videos, and then they did a cover of "Cars". I still enjoy their second and third records, but after that they totally lost me, even as they got way bigger.
Dave 12:28:22 AM
I even remember recording my Killers and Number of the Beast LPs on blank cassettes for my cousin to listen to when he was able to. His parents were very religious and had him on a rather short leash. He really got into Maiden years later. I like to think I corrupted his morality, but I’m sure he would have discovered Maiden and metal eventually, with or without me.
Taylor (host) 12:28:38 AM
Same with White Zombie. I was cuckoo about La Sexorcisto when it first came out. Then they showed the Thunder Kiss video on Beavis and Butthead and they got huge. Then they made one more great record and Rob Zombie decided the other people in his were extraneous and started making bad movies and strip club music. The end.
Taylor (host) 12:29:02 AM
* his band
Papa Rich 12:31:41 AM
Ha! I have the Hellbilly Deluxe vinyl. It is a cool picture disc but I think I only listened to it once. I bought it more for the artwork.
Taylor (host) 12:32:00 AM
And don't even get me started on how a bunch of music nerds in tight pants ruined Tool.
Taylor (host) 12:32:49 AM
Hellbilly has a couple of cool songs on it, but overall it's a pale imitation. The few songs I've heard here and there that are more recent have been excruciating, though.
Dave 12:34:07 AM
Yeah, that first White Zombie record was quite good, I remember buying it back in the Beavis & Butt-head days. I actually watched B&B not only for the outrageous humor, but also to get exposure to samples of the music through the videos they would watch in the episodes. I discovered a lot of new musical artists that way!
Frank Demian 12:34:16 AM
I remember Hellbilly Deluxe fondly, as it was one of the CD's my girlfriend at the time brought over and we knocked boots to it often
Papa Rich 12:34:38 AM
So I’m guessing you don’t have tickets in hand for the new Munsters movie he made?
Taylor (host) 12:37:39 AM
I'll probably check it out since I'm a fan of the original show.
Taylor (host) 12:37:49 AM
I'm not expecting much, though.
Frank Demian 12:38:18 AM
Papa Rich I think Taylor could have been hired to portray Uncle Gilbert
Dave 12:39:05 AM
Reboots of old shows are never as good as the originals, in my humble opinion.
Papa Rich 12:39:08 AM
I love the Munsters. Have the dvds but I don’t think you can capture in a remake what made that show awesome.
Taylor (host) 12:39:19 AM
Although, considering how abysmal the most recent Halloween movies have been, maybe I should be nicer to Rob for the really bad ones he made. I'd watch either other those 10 times again before I'd sit through Halloween Version 3.0, or whatever they called that last Jamie Lee Curtis installment.
Taylor (host) 12:40:33 AM
Yeah, I wasn't thrilled that he cast his wife as Lily. I have nothing against her, but really? There was no other actress you considered for such an iconic role?
Papa Rich 12:43:45 AM
I was out of the room. Did you play two Slayer tracks?
Taylor (host) 12:44:09 AM
No, I played one Slayer suite.
Papa Rich 12:44:31 AM
Is that fancy for yes?
Taylor (host) 12:44:44 AM
Ha. Kinda?
Papa Rich 12:45:39 AM
So evil! You’ll play Postmortem without Reign in Blood?
Taylor (host) 12:46:34 AM
Ha. That was just once! And I've heard them do that in concert, so I figured they were giving me their blessing.

I feel the same about the old Godzilla movies. I watched some of the movie from sometime in the 2000s with the computer-generated monster and high-tech special effects, but it just wasn’t the same as seeing an actor in a rubber suit playing the monster. Give me the dude in the rubber Godzilla suit with all the cheesy sound effects and even cheesier special effects and bad editing from the original Japanese films, and I’m a happy guy!
Frank Demian 12:46:50 AM
Mandatory Metallica! YES!!
Taylor (host) 12:47:34 AM
I hear you, Dave. I actually dug the most recent movies a lot, but those old school Godzillas are something special.
Papa Rich 12:47:45 AM
So evil! You know we are conditioned to hear those songs together. So much mental anguish that night.
Taylor (host) 12:48:05 AM
I feel the same way about the Planet Of The Apes series, as well. I really dug the newer trilogy a lot, but the original 5 movies are still my favorite.
Taylor (host) 12:49:26 AM
Alright, everyone needs to vote. I'm having trouble picking the last song. Do you want me to play G1, G2, G3, E2, or E3?
Mike Anderson 12:49:59 AM
The 1962 King Kong vs Godzilla is one of my all time favorites
Mike Anderson 12:51:09 AM
I'll go with G3
Papa Rich 12:51:11 AM
E3. Sounds like an electronic convention.
Taylor (host) 12:51:26 AM
Keep 'em coming, tiebreakers.
Frank Demian 12:52:28 AM
Sounds like a Jukebox selection, I'll go for G1
Taylor (host) 12:52:48 AM
Man... Dave, you have the deciding vote.
Taylor (host) 12:53:42 AM
Hurry, Dave. Time is ticking.
Dave 12:53:43 AM
Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath… this playlist has all the heavy hitters in the classicks department!
JF>SA 12:54:07 AM
Enjoyed the ride guyz, time to close the lid, hope you all survive "the great shut down"!
Dave 12:54:21 AM
Is G2 in the running?
Taylor (host) 12:54:36 AM
Now everyone has voted for a different song and I'm back where I started.
Taylor (host) 12:54:57 AM
I'm going with E3 since E got less votes. That makes sense, right?
Papa Rich 12:55:05 AM
3…. I’m guessing the next question is how many fingers am I holding up for the win
Dave 12:55:48 AM
Alright, I’ll go with G1.
Papa Rich 12:57:18 AM
