Touch of Evil

With Taylor

A morbid menagerie of past and future metal classics melded into a chaotic cacophony of sinister sounds for bleeding ears. Death is no escape here; in fact, it's where we begin our journey. This ride stops at Maiden, Mayhem, Melvins, Meshuggah, and all points in between. So climb aboard and put your horns, and the volume, way up.

Papa Rich 10:02:18 PM
Good evening all!
Taylor (host) 10:02:29 PM
Good evening, Papa! How are you, sir?
Frank Demian 10:03:59 PM
Good Evening Empire of Evil!
Papa Rich 10:04:15 PM
Doing well. Although if I may ask instead of the fires of hell, perhaps we can get the gentle breeze of purgatory? It’s hot enough!
Taylor (host) 10:04:31 PM
Howdy, Frank! Ha! Loving the Alf profile pic.
Taylor (host) 10:05:01 PM
Sorry, Papa, I didn't bring too many breezes with me. It's prolly just gonna get hotter once the playlist gets cooking.
Papa Rich 10:06:02 PM
That’s alright. My body is getting used to it.
Taylor (host) 10:06:13 PM
You do get to be introduced to some really awesome new discoveries tonight, though.
Taylor (host) 10:06:28 PM
Man, if I ever get used to this weather, then I'll really be in hell.
Papa Rich 10:08:06 PM
Freaking great choice here! Spreading the Disease and Fistful of Metal have some choice cuts
Taylor (host) 10:09:01 PM
Total agreement, Papa. The few records after this get more attention, but they were already on fire with their opening salvo.
Frank Demian 10:09:04 PM
After last weeks talk of Brutus the Barber Beefcake and Big John Studd, I've reverted back to the 80's, and there I shall reside
Taylor (host) 10:09:23 PM
Ha. Nothing wrong with that, Frank. The '80s were pretty great all things considered.
Taylor (host) 10:09:46 PM
I guess I was also in that mindset, bringing this classick out right at the beginning.
Taylor (host) 10:11:08 PM
Although a couple cuts from now, I'll be dropping some choice brand new music. So we're still doing a balance.
Taylor (host) 10:11:37 PM
I love all the Nile stuff, but this record just straight up slays.
Papa Rich 10:13:32 PM
I went to an 80’s themed party and wore jeans and a polo. Maybe a party pooper but that’s what I wore in the 80’s. We all didn’t dress in neon or like Madonna.
Taylor (host) 10:14:00 PM
Speak for yourself, Papa. I always dressed like Madonna.
Papa Rich 10:14:26 PM
Ha! Must of been hell getting ready for school!
Taylor (host) 10:14:42 PM
Nah. The only thing that took a lot of time was making sure I drew my mole in the right place.
Taylor (host) 10:15:23 PM
I'm actually a big Madonna fan, at least the early stuff. She had a stellar run on her first four records.
Taylor (host) 10:16:33 PM
Even her non-album soundtrack cuts from that era were gold. "Crazy For You" and "Live To Tell" are both phenomenal songs.
Frank Demian 10:16:52 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzx_pTzGRBE
Papa Rich 10:17:04 PM
There are artist like her, where I love the music but don’t really care about the whole catalog. Greatest hits are enough for me.
Taylor (host) 10:17:14 PM
Speaking of, get ready for some brand new goodness up next. Picked up this band's new album and it's astonishingly good.
Frank Demian 10:17:48 PM
Ok I stepped out of the 80's to tell you to clink the link below for Madonna with Pantera riffs
Taylor (host) 10:17:54 PM
Some of her deep cuts are kind of fluffy, but especially her first album, every track is a keeper.
Papa Rich 10:19:20 PM
I heard this new Soulfly album is awesome. True?
Taylor (host) 10:19:43 PM
Effing awesome. I was blown away. I liked the last one a lot, also, but this one is next-level rad.
Taylor (host) 10:20:02 PM
To be honest, I always supported them because I love Max so much, but I was never a huge fan. I am now.
Papa Rich 10:20:58 PM
I loved the first couple but started trailing off because they were kinda getting repetitive. I
Taylor (host) 10:21:38 PM
I was into those first two when they came out, but they haven't aged that well for me.
Taylor (host) 10:21:54 PM
I saw them on their first tour, though. And a couple times after that. They were always fun live.
Papa Rich 10:23:01 PM
I hear you. That was an awesome track. Going to have to check out the album.
Taylor (host) 10:23:45 PM
I bought tickets this morning for Cavalera. That's Max and Igor playing old Sepultura songs. I never got to see them back in the day, so I'm really excited about that.
Taylor (host) 10:24:21 PM
Beneath The Remains and Arise were defining records for me, so hearing tunes off of those is going to be such a treat.
Papa Rich 10:24:38 PM
Nice. Glad they settled differences between them.
Taylor (host) 10:24:58 PM
I figured they would. Family fights sometimes, but they usually patch things up.
Papa Rich 10:25:18 PM
Sometimes
Taylor (host) 10:25:19 PM
I got to interview Max on his tour bus during the second Soulfly album days. He was so laid back and cool.
Papa Rich 10:25:47 PM
Really? That’s so cool!
Taylor (host) 10:26:16 PM
I used to write for a few magazines and websites, so I went to a lot of shows from that era to review them.
Taylor (host) 10:27:25 PM
Most of the interviews I had to do were people whose bands I didn't give a crap about, but Max was an exception.
Papa Rich 10:28:07 PM
How is that? I imagine some people like talking and others don’t. That can’t be easy.
Taylor (host) 10:28:24 PM
But in a few cases, the people I talked to ended up being really cool and it made me appreciate the band a little more. For instance, I will never hate on Papa Roach because their guitarist was really cool when I interviewed him.
Frank Demian 10:28:36 PM
At you at liberty to say which websites, I would love to read an article?!
Taylor (host) 10:29:17 PM
A lot of them were up and coming bands, so I think they didn't mind doing interviews as much because it was new to them and they were still excited.
Taylor (host) 10:29:51 PM
I doubt there's much out there, Frank. If you'd like to read my writing the best place to go is lifeonashelf.tumblr.com
Taylor (host) 10:30:33 PM
Those older articles are like baby pictures to me. I thought I was good but I was terrible. I'm a little less terrible now.
Taylor (host) 10:33:01 PM
The coolest interview I ever got to do was John Doe. He couldn't have been cooler, and since he's a hero of mine that was huge.
Frank Demian 10:33:31 PM
I skimmed a little, and if prose is the correct word I like your prose
Taylor (host) 10:33:39 PM
Brandon from Incubus was a really nice guy, too. He stayed on the phone with me for like two hours, which is basically unheard of when bands do interviews. Usually you get 10-15 minutes.
Taylor (host) 10:34:14 PM
Thanks, man! That's just a project I do for fun. Some of it gets really personal, though. It's kind of become a memoir over the years.
Frank Demian 10:34:29 PM
Do you have a review for Primus' Pork Soda ? I love that album.
Taylor (host) 10:35:05 PM
That was before my era. I was mostly doing reviews between 98 and 2005 or so.
Papa Rich 10:36:33 PM
John Doe, X? There’s no way there’s another. Why ask? Los Angeles is a great record!
Taylor (host) 10:37:50 PM
I was assigned a Primus show to review one time. I had to tie my shoe so I had my best friend hold my camera for me. The security came up and asked him where his photo pass was. I showed them my pass and explained that he was just holding my camera.
Taylor (host) 10:38:56 PM
They told me he wasn't allowed to have a camera without a photo pass and dragged him out of the venue. This all happened right when the lights went out and Primus was about to go on. I tried talking to the dudes, but they were on some power trip and said he was out for good. So I left the show and didn't review it.
Papa Rich 10:39:55 PM
Primus’s loss.
Taylor (host) 10:40:06 PM
Pretty ridiculous when you think about it now, when every single person at every single concert has a camera in their pocket.
Frank Demian 10:40:24 PM
Security can totally ruin an experience, man that sucks!
Papa Rich 10:40:28 PM
Where’s Dave? This jam has his name all over it.
Taylor (host) 10:40:40 PM
I almost came to blows with them, actually. They literally grabbed the back of my friend's neck and dragged him out of there.
Frank Demian 10:43:01 PM
I missed Dave in the Soul Satisfaction chat Thursday, maybe he took a 4 day vacay?
Taylor (host) 10:44:22 PM
I definitely put a couple of middle fingers in their faces.
Taylor (host) 10:45:14 PM
I hope Dave's alright. I know a couple of times he's been away from us for a few days it's been due to illness. I'm sending him good thoughts, wherever he is tonight.
Papa Rich 10:49:49 PM
Hopefully he’s just getting a good night’s rest.
Papa Rich 10:51:37 PM
Frank, I’ll have to check out the Madonna/Pantera link later but if you want a chuckle, look up on YouTube “Angel of Death- the Radio Disney version”. It’s good for a laugh.
Taylor (host) 10:51:50 PM
Ha. I've seen that one. It's pretty great.
Frank Demian 10:52:36 PM
I thought Disney WAS the Angel of Death!
Taylor (host) 10:53:30 PM
Ha. Yeah, my love for Disney has certainly waned in recent years. I used to be an annual pass holder, but I haven't been to the park in 5 or years now and can't imagine ever going back again at this point.
Papa Rich 10:55:30 PM
I had passes back when they were about $400 for premium. I heard they are over a grand now. It was fun though. Just head out and have dinner and get on a few rides.
Taylor (host) 10:55:54 PM
That's one of the big reasons right there. The days of it being affordable are long over.
Taylor (host) 10:56:10 PM
And they were so unabashed about it!
Taylor (host) 10:57:29 PM
Their statement when they were re-opening after Covid was essentially, since we lost a whole lot of money last year, we need to maximize the amount of money spent by every guest going forward, so we're raising the prices on everything. Welcome back!
Papa Rich 10:57:52 PM
People keep paying. But go to Knott’s or Magic Mountain and understand how the high prices make a difference.
Taylor (host) 10:59:19 PM
I used to love both, but I haven't been to either in more years than I can count.
Taylor (host) 10:59:31 PM
Universal always was and always will be my favorite.
Papa Rich 11:00:21 PM
I haven’t been there since the Miami Vice stunt show was new. Is it still there?
Frank Demian 11:00:37 PM
I went to Knotts a few months before the lady fell off Perilous Plunge, maybe 20 years
Taylor (host) 11:01:01 PM
Man, I wish! They changed it to Waterworld, which stayed there for way too long, like 15 years. I'm not sure what's there now. It might be part of Harry Potter World.
Papa Rich 11:02:03 PM
Damn! They got rid of the A-Team for that! You’d think it would still be there.
Frank Demian 11:04:30 PM
I pity the fool who got rid of the A-Team
Papa Rich 11:05:34 PM
Ha! We circled back to the 80’s. I love it when a plan comes together.
Taylor (host) 11:06:19 PM
But the changes are one of the coolest things about Universal to me. They're constantly filming there, so new film history is constantly being made and the things you see there reflect that.
Frank Demian 11:06:19 PM
Where's the Beef?!
Taylor (host) 11:06:54 PM
I've been going my whole life, so I can still remember the old reference points they made on the tour, no matter what they say now.
Papa Rich 11:07:28 PM
Back to the Future was filmed there, right?
Taylor (host) 11:07:49 PM
Last time I was there, that European village was "where they shot Pirates Of The Caribbean" but I said, nah, that's where Donna and Brenda went to Paris on 90210.
Taylor (host) 11:08:47 PM
Chunks of it, Papa. The courthouse with the clock tower is still there, but a lot of it had to be rebuilt after a fire on the backlot.
Frank Demian 11:08:56 PM
Is the Munsters house in Universal Studios?
Taylor (host) 11:09:30 PM
1313 Mockingbird Lane is indeed still there. It's on the same street where the Desperate Housewives "lived".
Papa Rich 11:09:41 PM
Forgot about that fire
Taylor (host) 11:09:45 PM
And the same block where The 'Burbs was filmed.
Taylor (host) 11:09:54 PM
Among countless other things.
Taylor (host) 11:10:18 PM
The Back To The Future courthouse was also used in Liar Liar, episodes of Matlock, etc.
Papa Rich 11:11:13 PM
Ha! The ‘Burbs. Never gets mentioned in the illustrious career of Mr. Hanks. Along with the Money Pit or Volunteers.
Taylor (host) 11:11:15 PM
In case you can't tell, I'm somewhat of a Universal historian. It's always been a dream of mine to be able to walk around the backlot and check things out without being on the tourbus.
Frank Demian 11:11:17 PM
I watch Elvira Mistress of the Dark twice a month, the downtown area looks a lot like the BTTF Courthouse area
Taylor (host) 11:11:33 PM
Elvira was also filmed there!
Taylor (host) 11:11:55 PM
I can even spot the backlot when they use it in commercials.
Taylor (host) 11:12:11 PM
Which is frequently.
Frank Demian 11:12:21 PM
Fletch Lives , at least the Bible themed fun park scene right?
Taylor (host) 11:12:50 PM
Definitely. The cabin from The Great Outdoors is still there in a prominent place on the tour, also.
Papa Rich 11:13:45 PM
I was there when they filmed Fletch Lives. They were using the auditorium they had the Conan the Barbarian show. Last time I was ever ther.
Taylor (host) 11:14:00 PM
The Conan show! I miss that!
Frank Demian 11:14:07 PM
How about the Animal House frat houses?
Taylor (host) 11:14:14 PM
It was so rad when the dragon came out of the pit, breathing fire.
Taylor (host) 11:14:21 PM
I'm not sure about that one, Frank.
Frank Demian 11:16:08 PM
I was making a guess since Animal House is Universal Pictures
Frank Demian 11:17:08 PM
'Burbs is also something I watch twice a month, Innerspace too
Taylor (host) 11:17:30 PM
They most likely filmed portions of the movie there if they needed soundstages, but often when they need certain types of buildings they'll film on location. For instance, there's nothing there resembling a college campus, so they most certainly filmed big chunks of Animal House elsewhere.
Papa Rich 11:18:15 PM
A trip down memory lane and a sick playlist! I was wrong. The fires of hell were what I needed.
Taylor (host) 11:18:38 PM
Ha. That's what we do here, Papa!
Frank Demian 11:19:18 PM
What'chu Talkin About Papa Rich
Taylor (host) 11:20:00 PM
Many sitcoms have also been filmed there, but I don't believe that was one of them.
Papa Rich 11:20:05 PM
Can you make time slow down though? What’s going on? We can’t be this far into the show.
Taylor (host) 11:20:28 PM
You got it, Papa. I'll start playing some really crappy music so the show drags for the second half.
Taylor (host) 11:20:39 PM
Imagine Dragons, coming right up.
Papa Rich 11:20:59 PM
Thanks. I knew I could count on you.
Taylor (host) 11:23:19 PM
Three Amigos: another classic movie filmed mostly on that backlot. I was so mad when they changed the Mexican village reference on the tour to Big Fat Liar instead.
Frank Demian 11:23:26 PM
Play some Electric Potatoheads, the band the kids and the girl robot formed on Small Wonder
Taylor (host) 11:23:49 PM
Ha. I totally forgot about that! I definitely watched me some Small Wonder back in the day.
Taylor (host) 11:25:16 PM
I still watch a lot of old sitcoms, actually. Taxi has held up amazingly well.
Frank Demian 11:25:33 PM
Ooh 3 Amigos is a treat to watch
Papa Rich 11:26:11 PM
Been watching Family Ties on Pluto TV. I still enjoy it. It held up well.
Frank Demian 11:26:35 PM
Taxi trivia:What does a yellow light mean
Taylor (host) 11:26:36 PM
That's a show I haven't watched in a million years. I met Michael J. Fox, though.
Papa Rich 11:26:50 PM
Go faster?
Taylor (host) 11:26:52 PM
Right here in Claremont, strangely enough.
Taylor (host) 11:27:08 PM
Correct!
Frank Demian 11:27:14 PM
Slow down
Papa Rich 11:27:45 PM
MJF was in Claremont?
Frank Demian 11:27:53 PM
What ..does ..a ..yel..low light..mean?
Taylor (host) 11:28:34 PM
He and his family ate at the restaurant where I used to work. I wasn't his server, but I helped out. Didn't get to interact with him much, but his wife was very sweet.
Taylor (host) 11:28:49 PM
Met Randy Jackson there, also.
Papa Rich 11:29:28 PM
Dawg!
Frank Demian 11:29:38 PM
Taylor, surely you've been on TV or Film
Taylor (host) 11:29:48 PM
And some band people. One of the dudes from Black Veil Brides came in, in his full make-up and all that. Not a fan of the band, but he was really nice and tipped well.
Taylor (host) 11:30:15 PM
Not in the way you mean, Frank. I was on public access TV a lot for a while.
Mike Anderson 11:30:17 PM
HELLo Everyone!
Taylor (host) 11:30:24 PM
HELLo, Mike!
Papa Rich 11:30:32 PM
Howdy Mike!
Mike Anderson 11:31:03 PM
Apologies for being late
Taylor (host) 11:31:08 PM
My most notorious moment was when a friend let me and my death metal band into the studio to do a pirate live broadcast at midnight one night. Evidently a bunch of people saw that. I got recognized at a Del Taco drive-thru by the dude at the window.
Papa Rich 11:33:40 PM
Since you were in the biz, can I ask a question? I went to a restaurant. They had the portable card reader. For whatever reason, most likely my fault, but the tip didn’t get added. Now I feel bad. I tip well but obviously she didn’t get her tip for great service. What do I do? I feel like I can never go back.
Frank Demian 11:34:00 PM
I used to watch public access on Time Warner cable in Santa Ana, is there a YouTube link because I am intrigued
Frank Demian 11:35:04 PM
Hi Mike!
Taylor (host) 11:41:54 PM
Sorry, getting caught up... Replies are coming...
Taylor (host) 11:43:41 PM
Papa, you can totally go back and give the server a tip after the fact. We all remember getting stiffed and I'm sure she'd appreciate it.
Papa Rich 11:45:32 PM
That’s my fear. She isn’t there but the rest of the staff has heard the situation. Am I safe to eat or should I watch for spit in my food and drink. Seriously, I feel bad.
Taylor (host) 11:45:34 PM
An important thing to keep in mind is that servers have to tip out other people on the staff, and it's usually not based on what they make, it's based on their sales. At my last restaurant, I had to tip out the bar staff, the hosts, and the backservers. If I had a $100 tab and got stiffed, that meant like 5 bucks coming out of my pocket since there wasn't a tip.
Frank Demian 11:45:49 PM
Mike , Papa, ever been on TV or Film
Taylor (host) 11:46:14 PM
I can honestly say I never once saw food get spit in, messed with, etc. my entire 10 years in the industry. That's an exagerration.
Taylor (host) 11:46:56 PM
If that was nearly as widespread as people make it out to be, servers would never eat anywhere because they would know their odds are high for that sort of nonsense.
Papa Rich 11:47:13 PM
Not with my consent Frank. I hope not.
Papa Rich 11:49:43 PM
You’re right. My wife is right. I’m just a paranoid freak.
Papa Rich 11:50:07 PM
I do hope I can make it right.
Taylor (host) 11:50:29 PM
You'll make her day, especially if you explain what happened and let her know her service was excellent.
Taylor (host) 11:51:31 PM
It's one of the hardest jobs in the world, truly. Especially to do it well. And half the things that go wrong aren't the server's fault, but they have to be the one to bear the wrath of it.
Papa Rich 11:51:49 PM
Hopefully she is still there. You never know the way turn over is nowadays. Because that would haunt me.
Papa Rich 11:52:40 PM
Totally sympathetic to those doing customer service.
Taylor (host) 11:52:47 PM
I've never stiffed a server in my life. If I get terrible service I'll still leave 15%. They probably think their crappy service wasn't noticed, but what they don't know is that I usually tip 30-50%.
Papa Rich 11:53:49 PM
50%? Okay, I’ll just stay home.
Taylor (host) 11:55:02 PM
Ha. Keep in mind, I usually go to breakfast and I'm usually alone. With my meal and coffee it's $20 at the most. I always leave $5 at least. $10 if it's a server I know.
Papa Rich 11:56:24 PM
Okay. That sounds more in line in what I do. Like I said, I do tip well. Sounded like a lot in writing.
Mike Anderson 11:57:26 PM
Frank, just on a few YouTube videos but nothing on TV
Papa Rich 11:59:02 PM
Can we ask about those YouTube videos, Mike?
Taylor (host) 11:59:44 PM
And if it's a server I see working hard and they get stiffed, I'll go ask them how much the check was and give them a nice tip based on that also.
Papa Rich 12:00:41 AM
Man, hoping you were at the restaurant that night.
Taylor (host) 12:00:52 AM
I've also been known to spot people who are eating alone like I am and pick up their tab before I leave to leave them with an act of kindness for the day.
Taylor (host) 12:01:59 AM
I like imagining the server dropping off a tab for $0 and their day being brightened just a bit.
Mike Anderson 12:02:08 AM
I found myself in the pit at Lamb of God on a video someone posted, the other two on a trucking YouTube channel. One was from just last weekend.
Frank Demian 12:03:16 AM
I was on a game show once, that's it
Taylor (host) 12:03:48 AM
What show, Frank?
Papa Rich 12:05:18 AM
That’s pretty awesome of you. That was inspiring. Way to show some love to others.
Mike Anderson 12:05:55 AM
Back in the mid 90's I went to an audition for the MTV Show Singled Out. I was in the elevator with Jenny McCarthy. Never got called back which I'm glad for
Papa Rich 12:06:06 AM
Of course now I feel worse that you not only pay for others meals but tip servers who weren’t even waiting on you.
Taylor (host) 12:06:13 AM
All that crap I say on the show is real. If I can do something to brighten someone's day, it makes me happy to do it.
Taylor (host) 12:06:29 AM
Ha. That's awesome, Mike.
Taylor (host) 12:08:30 AM
I don't even like having my picture taken, so seeing myself on video is never fun. I can't imagine being on TV now.
Frank Demian 12:08:49 AM
You've Got to Be Kidding, on KDOC 56
Taylor (host) 12:09:47 AM
I get really pissed off when strangers film me with their phone. As nice as I usually am, I totally snapped on some dude a couple months ago because he just posted up while I was helping a customer and started snapping photos of me.
Papa Rich 12:11:07 AM
Randomly or did he know of the show?
Frank Demian 12:11:27 AM
In 1988 I auditioned as panel but was picked ad contestant instead, and saw Wally George the controversial TV host at the studio, but I didn't get to meet him until 1998 at a random play center called Super Kids Fun Factory
Taylor (host) 12:12:12 AM
He had no idea who I was. He said he was taking photos to practice for a class he was taking. I told him the first lesson in that class should have been asking permission before taking someone's photo, then I made him show me his screen while he deleted the shots.
Papa Rich 12:13:29 AM
Wally at a play center for kids?
Taylor (host) 12:13:52 AM
There aren't any pictures of me anywhere in relation to the show. I enjoy the anonymity of radio. But I have had listeners ask to take a photo with me when I've met them at shows or whatever, and I will do that. It's flattering they'd want a picture with me, so I'd never be a jerk and say no to that.
Papa Rich 12:15:00 AM
My wife did that to a kid at Knott’s. Standing in line, she says that kid looks like one of our daughters friend and snaps a picture. Kid freaks out. I made her talk to the kid and had to explain why she was wrong
Taylor (host) 12:16:02 AM
Ha. See? Imagine how creeped out a woman would be if some stranger just snapped their photo without asking. I don't think it should be any different for anyone else.
Taylor (host) 12:17:01 AM
I'm sure your wife doesn't look like a creep. But if I was a parent and some stranger took a picture of my kid, they'd be forcefed their camera.
Papa Rich 12:18:45 AM
Kid was cool but she still didn’t understand how it was wrong. Perhaps explaining it in reverse order would have helped. Me taking a candid shot of a young girl, my ass would have been tackled and beaten.
Papa Rich 12:20:37 AM
Fortunately she has one of those personalities where people like her. Me not so much.
Taylor (host) 12:20:56 AM
Wasn't it Native Americans who believed that a photograph steals a piece of your soul? I don't quite think that, but it's certainly an invasion of a most basic privacy.
Taylor (host) 12:21:25 AM
Ha. I guarantee if your wife wanted to snap my photo I'd even smile for it. I get the sense she's a real sweet lady.
Frank Demian 12:21:27 AM
Papa Rich, Wally was treating his daughter(not his older daughter Rebecca de Mornay)to an indoor playground/ arcade, and I was treating my little brother, I told Wally how much I enjoyed Hot Seat and that I caught a glimpse of him ten years before at the TV studio
Papa Rich 12:21:47 AM
You’d dig her.
Taylor (host) 12:22:49 AM
I have no doubt I would.
Papa Rich 12:24:11 AM
That’s cool Frank. Wally was something to watch. You got the feeling he was just having some fun.
Taylor (host) 12:24:54 AM
Is Rebecca DeMornay really his daughter? I didn't know that.
Papa Rich 12:25:01 AM
Yep
Taylor (host) 12:25:25 AM
Crazy! That's a piece of pop culture trivia I never knew, and I'm pretty hard to stump.
Frank Demian 12:28:27 AM
Yes she is his daughter, they were estranged, not sure if they made peace before Wally left us in 2003
Taylor (host) 12:29:09 AM
That's really sad.
Papa Rich 12:29:23 AM
Hot Seat is where I was introduced to GWAR.
Taylor (host) 12:30:45 AM
I was introduced to GWAR by a girl named Laura who I had a huge crush on in junior high. She went to see them and was telling me about the show, and I was immediately, I need to investigate this band immediately. Scumdogs was the new record at the time, so once I heard that I was a fan for life.
Frank Demian 12:31:22 AM

Frank Demian 12:31:54 AM
Link is part one of Gwar on Hot Seat
Taylor (host) 12:32:02 AM
I can't click on links while I'm on the air, Frank. The computer channel is open so anything that would come up on YouTube would bleed onto the air.
Taylor (host) 12:32:14 AM
I'll have to look it up later.
Frank Demian 12:32:21 AM
No problemo
Frank Demian 12:32:56 AM
Empire Records is a great movie, one character is obsessed with Gwar
Taylor (host) 12:33:07 AM
I remember.
Taylor (host) 12:33:32 AM
They were also referenced heavily in a movie called S.F.W. and that soundtrack has a track which only appears on that disc.
meowmeowSKAi 12:35:55 AM
Hello everyone
Taylor (host) 12:36:42 AM
Hey, Skai!
Frank Demian 12:36:48 AM
I take it that the title stands for something other than 'Safe For Work"
Papa Rich 12:36:59 AM
Howdy SKAi?
Papa Rich 12:37:32 AM
? was unintentional
Taylor (host) 12:37:49 AM
Ha. I actually need to bust that disc out. It's a really killer song.
meowmeowSKAi 12:39:38 AM
joined a bit late, but I am glad I get a chance to tune in.
Taylor (host) 12:39:52 AM
Always great to have you, Skai.
Frank Demian 12:40:15 AM
Now that meowmeowSKAi is here, things are about to Pickitup Pickitup Pickitup
Papa Rich 12:40:37 AM
Next week I may not be here. Heading to Vegas. My anniversary gift to wife were tickets to see Shania Twain. So….. yeah
Taylor (host) 12:41:24 AM
Ha. I mean, that's almost as good as this show...
Papa Rich 12:41:55 AM
Thanks for trying to make me feel better
Taylor (host) 12:42:02 AM
Shania's pretty talented, though. I bet she puts on a good show.
Taylor (host) 12:42:47 AM
And you're talking to someone who purchased the new Demi Lovato record today, so I get it.
Papa Rich 12:44:16 AM
Shows on Saturday but hopefully she’s tired from the travel on Friday. But it’s Vegas, so who knows.
Taylor (host) 12:45:30 AM
I never get tired in Vegas, so if she's up and ready to party I'll totally understand.
meowmeowSKAi 12:46:25 AM
Oh, there is a show I wanted to check out next Saturday but unfortunately I am going to be out of town to visit my dad.
Taylor (host) 12:46:30 AM
I'll be there for a few days next month, but I won't be missing the show so you won't even notice I'm gone.
Taylor (host) 12:46:37 AM
What show, Skai?
Papa Rich 12:46:42 AM
Ha. Her first question was, so Friday? Are you gonna wanna listen to Touch of Evil?
meowmeowSKAi 12:48:15 AM
this new band I follow on instagram called wizard puffs and theyre playing at the highland park bowl.
Taylor (host) 12:48:25 AM
That would be pretty rad if I got to open for Shania.
meowmeowSKAi 12:48:44 AM
they go on at 9 and I was thinking I could have made it if they played earlier
Taylor (host) 12:48:48 AM
I've never been there but I heard that's a cool place, Skai.
Taylor (host) 12:48:56 AM
Hope you can catch them next time!
meowmeowSKAi 12:49:58 AM
lol well what was your answer papa to her question Papa?
Papa Rich 12:52:27 AM
The best is the non answer in this situation. My plan is to make her feel like she needs the rest while I listen to the show. It’s real tricky but I think I can pull it off.
Papa Rich 12:53:07 AM
Make it feel like it was her idea
Taylor (host) 12:53:18 AM
Ha. Papa's devious.
Taylor (host) 12:53:54 AM
"Great idea, honey... you should get lots of rest so you're all fresh for Shania tomorrow... don't worry, I'll keep myself occupied."
Papa Rich 12:54:16 AM
Hey, if I have to sit through a country concert I’m going to need some me time.
Taylor (host) 12:55:02 AM
I think you're being generous calling Shania "country". To me she's "pop with twang".
Papa Rich 12:55:32 AM
Was GWAR planned? Or is this in honor of Wally?
meowmeowSKAi 12:55:48 AM
Delightfully devilish Seymour
Taylor (host) 12:56:37 AM
Ha. I already had this disc with me. But it made the choice pretty easy.
Papa Rich 12:57:22 AM
I’m sure it will be fine. She has enough hits to keep me awake. God knows that didn’t happen the first time I saw Jackson Browne. Acoustic, by himself. Expensively.
Frank Demian 12:58:18 AM
Next week I'll mention Judge Reinhold and Fred Savage in 1988's Vice Versa so you can play Mayhem
Mike Anderson 12:58:28 AM
Goodnight everyone! See ya next week!
Papa Rich 12:58:29 AM
Good night all! This night went fast! Take care. Stay safe.
meowmeowSKAi 12:59:39 AM
I will do my best to tune in the following 3 weeks. I will be extremely busy but I will let you all know how it goes! Take care and be safe.
meowmeowSKAi 1:00:09 AM
Goodnight everyone! (─‿‿─)
Taylor (host) 1:01:46 AM
Good night, everyone! A pleasure chatting with you as always. Have a wonderful week!
