Rinda 3:03:56 PM
Geez huh- we were just talking about him...RIP Joey and THANX!
Wal (host) 3:04:18 PM
Yeah, I was crushed to hear the news of Joey's death.
Rinda 3:05:20 PM
My B3 buddy texted me and it really didn't bother me until later when I told Mrs. Rinda
Rinda 3:05:40 PM
51 yo BUT what a legacy- really
Wal (host) 3:05:47 PM
Ah. Yes, that's right, you had a organist friend listening last week.
Wal (host) 3:06:03 PM
And Joey also played sax and trumpet, too!!
Rinda 3:06:39 PM
HEY is that Pacific Jazz Quartet gig in Claremont tomorrow or Monday????
Wal (host) 3:06:55 PM
PJQ is tomorrow!
Wal (host) 3:07:01 PM

Rinda 3:07:04 PM
Thats true ! Joey was born gifted!!
Wal (host) 3:07:14 PM
Are you planning on going to see them play?
Rinda 3:07:24 PM
YES!
Rinda 3:07:35 PM
Where is the best place to park?
Wal (host) 3:07:51 PM
There's usually plenty of parking in the lot of the shopping center
Rinda 3:08:01 PM
10-4
Wal (host) 3:08:28 PM
They have live jazz there every Sunday. It's such a nice gig!
Rinda 3:08:33 PM
Should be a beautiful day for jazz!
Wal (host) 3:09:32 PM
Yes! Was at a jazz gig last night and it was really nice outside.
Rinda 3:11:43 PM
Awesome!! Looks like that venue IS in a shopping center of some kind
Wal (host) 3:12:01 PM
Yes, that is a shopping center
Rinda 3:15:25 PM
That promo was nice--
Wal (host) 3:15:50 PM
Yes, Joey recorded that for me about 5 years ago
Rinda 3:16:04 PM
You met him???
Wal (host) 3:16:24 PM
No, we corresponded online
Rinda 3:16:44 PM
Still- pretty great!!
Rinda 3:16:58 PM
You were wise to initiate that!
Wal (host) 3:17:04 PM
It is! I am very appreciative that he did that.
Wal (host) 3:17:30 PM
Yes, I played him so much on my show, I thought it would be great to have him record it for us.
Wal (host) 3:18:35 PM
How are things in Redlands today?
Rinda 3:18:42 PM
The B3 is just so weird, keyboards-wise, I'm not sure how many people really appreciate what it takes to make on create music the way greats like joey do/did
Wal (host) 3:19:04 PM
Yeah, I've never played a B3 before -- looks kind of complex!
Rinda 3:19:09 PM
GREAT! inside after workingout back- warm here
Rinda 3:19:53 PM
Just the leslie speakers alone boggles my mind
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:24:22 PM
Hi RWAL and RDA. It looks like I missed an ornithological track
Rinda 3:24:51 PM
Hi there Rob!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:24:55 PM
I'm bummed to hear about DeFrancesco's death.
Wal (host) 3:25:00 PM
RMD, welcome! Yes, you did! My tribute to Joey DeFrancesco kicks off the first 3 songs today.
Wal (host) 3:25:23 PM
RDA, I think those Leslie speakers rotate around to create a "warbly" effect

Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:26:39 PM
Wal, we got the stickers on Thursday! Thanks so much for printing them up!
Wal (host) 3:26:53 PM
RMD: You're welcome! Glad you like them.
Wal (host) 3:29:24 PM
I was very surprised at the number of requests for stickers. It's great. I'm about halfway done with the batch now.
Rinda 3:29:53 PM
I think the leslie 122s and 145,47s were the main ones; intense.
Rinda 3:30:30 PM
LOVE the stickers; one on my phone, on on my production desktop- thank you!!
Wal (host) 3:30:43 PM
RDA: That's great! Glad you like them, too!!
Wal (host) 3:31:00 PM
I might make a new batch for my 25th anniversary month in Dec.
Rinda 3:31:21 PM
I got winded reading 155 bpm note though- wheew!!
Wal (host) 3:31:49 PM
Hahaha! Oh yeah, 155 BPM is about the slowest I usually play.
JF>SA 3:31:56 PM
I forgot to send for mine, I'm so ashamed
Wal (host) 3:32:15 PM
It's OK, JF, you still have a chance!! Welcome in!
Rinda 3:32:18 PM
thats a dive bomb JF>SA
JF>SA 3:32:18 PM
Ahh, cool August... can hardly wait for hot September, HA! Hi Wal and Rinda and Robb 'n Rob 'n Rob 'n...
Rinda 3:32:46 PM
The last two weeks of August are HOT!
Wal (host) 3:32:50 PM
Yeah, it'll heat up in Sept. Always does. Get ready, folks!!
JF>SA 3:33:23 PM
Good eye Rinda, it's an A-36
Wal (host) 3:33:36 PM
JF, are you a pilot?
JF>SA 3:34:16 PM
In my heart and mind!
Wal (host) 3:34:49 PM
I wish I could fly, too. Would be an awesome experience!
JF>SA 3:35:10 PM
Flying is expensive!
Wal (host) 3:35:28 PM
So I've heard!
JF>SA 3:37:55 PM
We gett'n Dizzy!
Wal (host) 3:38:06 PM
(Which is one reason why I've never tried to learn to fly.)
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:38:25 PM
Hi RJF!
Wal (host) 3:38:28 PM
Oh yes, I love this Big 4 album. ALL amazing players on 1 session!
JF>SA 3:38:50 PM
A big wing flap back to ya Rob!
Wal (host) 3:39:42 PM
Maybe if I get a raise here at KSPC, I'll be able to afford my own plane...?
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:39:45 PM
It's hot out here too. We're having mid-July temps and humidity in late August ... which happens a fair amount, I wouldn't say it's unusual.
Wal (host) 3:40:06 PM
RMD, what kinds of humidity levels are you experiencing?
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:41:18 PM
The difference between mid-July and late August average temperatures is maybe 5 degrees, but there's a little more variability in late August than in mid-July (which is when we have our peak temperatures).
Rinda 3:41:32 PM
I think you should get a 100 percentraise DJ
Rinda 3:41:49 PM
I'll write you a note
Wal (host) 3:41:50 PM
RMD: Must make for some un-comfy birding expeditions...?
Wal (host) 3:42:05 PM
RDA: Thank you! I think 100% of zero is still zero, though...?
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:42:26 PM
One year we had a low pressure system just off the mid-Atlantic coast bringing clouds, rain, and breezes off the ocean, so the highs were in the mid 70s iirc rather than the mid 80s.
Rinda 3:42:34 PM
It's not the money, its the principle of the thing
JF>SA 3:42:57 PM
Rob, does your pocket weather meter give you accurate temp and humidity readings?
Wal (host) 3:43:03 PM
RDA: Can I buy an airplane with principle?
JF>SA 3:43:12 PM
Ditto Rinda!
Wal (host) 3:43:40 PM
...But I appreciate the support, nonetheless!
JF>SA 3:43:46 PM
Hold on to that dream Wal!!!
Wal (host) 3:44:04 PM
RJF, I will. Let's hope the dream doesn't end up a nightmare!
Rinda 3:45:40 PM
YES! You CAN buy a plane with principle PLUS LOTS of interest!
Wal (host) 3:46:00 PM
RDA, haha! Wrong principle/principal!!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:46:13 PM
Wal, this hour it looks like relative humidity is in the 60s percent, translating to a dew point of low to mid 70s, which is humid and unpleasant. The air temps are low and mid 80s. Inside we have the a/c set to 80, which is fine with the lower humidity inside
Wal (host) 3:46:16 PM
Maybe if I was a high school principal, I could buy a plane...?
Rinda 3:46:17 PM
LOL!!!
Rinda 3:46:30 PM
YES! They make lots of money!!
Wal (host) 3:46:35 PM
RMD, yeah, that seems fairly sticky!
Wal (host) 3:47:23 PM
I taught high school for a very short period of time many years ago. Glad to have the experience but unlikely I'd be teaching high school again.
Rinda 3:48:26 PM
OK_ break time is over for me- listening old school outdoors- thanks DJ, JF>SA and Rob! Hope to see you ALL tomorrow in Claremont !!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:48:41 PM
As I may have said last week, air temps of 90 with typical summertime humidity/dew points, in the full sun, in a low-breeze salt marsh (think mosquitos!) situation, can be f*cking unpleasant. Sometimes the birds I see don't make up for the weather awfulness
Wal (host) 3:48:43 PM
Take care, RDA! Have a nice time at the concert tomorrow!!
JF>SA 3:49:03 PM
Stay cool Rinfa!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:49:08 PM
Wal, you totally deserve a 200% raise!
Wal (host) 3:49:39 PM
RMD, thank you very much, I'll see if my accountant can make something happen with 200% of zero. Hahaha!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:51:17 PM
JF, yes, my Kestrel weather meter gives accurate temperature and humidity readings. It can take 5 or 10 minutes to equilibrate, if I take it out of my 115 degree car to get the actual air temperature & humidity.
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:52:17 PM
Bye Rinda!
JF>SA 3:54:50 PM
You a dang rhym'n fool Wal!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 3:55:09 PM
Wal, speaking of jazz concerts, didn't you have a gig yesterday somewhere?
Wal (host) 3:56:01 PM
RMD: Yes! I played here in Claremont. I saw/met RB! Had a great time.
Wal (host) 3:56:41 PM
RJF: I only rhyme when I have the time (or am cooking with thyme).
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 4:03:09 PM
Wal, I am happy/you saw RB
Wal (host) 4:03:31 PM
RMD, I'll let you know the next time I play in MD!

https://twitter.com/kspc/status/1560688192025657350?cxt=HHwWjICwrYnp1qgrAAAA
JF>SA 4:23:52 PM
Is he using a "harmonizer"?
Wal (host) 4:24:21 PM
RJF: I think he is overdubbing his trumpet tracks
JF>SA 4:24:46 PM
OK, makes sense!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 4:34:10 PM
Ooh, I hope you can play in Maryland! Especially if you aren't crammed in a windowless van with no a/c
Wal (host) 4:39:42 PM
Hahaha! RMD, I certainly remember those days of bad van travels, but alas, I have no gigs booked in MD at the moment!
JF>SA 4:55:13 PM
Thanks for another afternoon of great Jazz Wal, catch ya next time Rob and Rinda!
Wal (host) 4:55:42 PM
Thanks RJF! Take it easy in the pilot's seat, there. Have a nice weekend!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 4:55:57 PM
Wal, if you come to MD on business maybe we can get together
Wal (host) 4:56:22 PM
RMD, yes, I anticipate being in MD sometime in late spring or early summer. Will let you know!!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 4:56:50 PM
Thanks for the jazz, Wal. Have a nice week Wal, JF, and Rinda!
Rob from Maryland 🌻 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ πŸ¦€ 4:57:04 PM
