I literally didn't even know what the opening song was going to be until I got to the studio and pulled out my discs.

Good choice! My favorite Morbid Angel record.

But I do know what I'm unleashing next, and this opening salvo is going to get us into the red right from the start.

I rarely listen to whole albums anymore. Gotten so used to playlists. It is a treat when I do. You forget about certain songs.

This is pretty rad!

Right, and the *flow* of an album. Any artist worth a damn plans out what order the songs should be heard in very carefully.

This whole record is a masterpiece.

Such a unique sound, from the riffs to the production. Even the drumming is weird.

Re-modified by the ‘80s British band Musical Youth “Pass the dutchie to the left-hand side” (to get around censors; “dutchie” referred to a “Dutch oven”, or a pot for food… passing it around so everyone had enough to eat; the song was basically a double-entendre between food & cannabis)

I wouldn’t trust “just some guy” on the street selling weed… you never know if it’s laced with anything, like Fentanyl, which is basically guaranteed to kill you. I smoked some pot I bought off some guy way back in my junior high days, and I swear the shit was laced with something (maybe acid?), because I was having visual and auditory trips that seriously freaked me out.

I even had flashbacks from it for several years after quitting in 1983. At least with it being legalized, you can get a quality-controlled product that even has recommendations as to how much to start off with based on prior usage.

No way, man. Even if I felt like smoking, this dude wouldn't get a dime off me.

And now to switch subjects. The wife and I went out looking at potential cats to adopt at local shelters, including Priceless Pets in Claremont. They all looked cute enough, but we decided to hold off on it. Then she saw one on the Priceless Pets in Chino Hills website on Tuesday when she was at work. I drove down there to take a look, but the cat seemed just slightly stand-off-ish and a bit mean. She saw another cat on their website which was down there when I was. We now have a new kitty! YAY!

Her name is Abigail. She is a six month old white (with a few grey markings) Siamese-mix kitten with light-blue eyes, and a grey-and-white striped tail. She kinda looks like a ring-tailed lemur when she races around the house. She is so adorable! We also got Jasper and Emily from the same exact rescue shelter last year.

Awesome, man. I love the name Abigail, too.

Right now, both Abigail and Jasper are out here with me listening to the sick tunes tonight!

Although, Abigail is also the name of my former fiancee, but I decided I love that name too much to let her ruin it forever.

Congratulations Dave! Cheers to the new edition in your family.

Actually, when I brought little Abbie home on Tuesday, I let her out of the carrier and Jasper came up to her and hissed and laid his ears back… we finally found something that pissed him off! He was in a snit for the last three days, he barely ate anything out of protest (his version of a hunger strike, otherwise this cat lives to eat!), he hid under the bed, wouldn’t come near us, etc.

But today the two of them were in the same room for most of the day, and earlier this evening, Jasper walked up and casually touched noses with Abigail and casually walked by as if it were no big deal. He was very jealous at first, but he just needed time to process the change. They’ll both get along very well soon enough. The people at the shelter said it can take time.

Cats are independent creatures and territorial. But typically when two are living together, after a while they become inseperable.

It's changed over the years. Dudes from Carcass, Faith No More, Napalm Death, Fear Factory, all kinds of royalty in that band over the years.

Just curious, how well does the show do against the other shows on the station as far as streams and listener traffic. I honestly don't see anything holding a candle to this show.

I don't keep track of that stuff, to be honest. I don't view any other DJ as competition. I root them all on and support all the shows I can.

So they’re not so much a band as they are a metal institution or collective.

That's pretty accurate, Dave. I think they've just had various people pop in and out of the band over the years, and since they wear bandanas over their faces it becomes this fun side project to do anonymously.
