Fortunately, we didn't have to endure the harsh conditions of the Gulf Coast & Atlantic Coast from Ian. Tragedy out there.

Hi Wal and JF! My neighborhood has seen about an inch of rain so far, and winds sometimes gusting into the 30s. No power outages right by me. It's 59 and overcast right now

Glad to hear you're doing okay out there, RMD.

I feel really bad for all the folks near the Florida landfall of Ian. Their lives can never be the same.

I saw the devastation on the news. Tragic.

Thanks, Wal and JF. It's going to be a few days before the highs hit 70 here (normal is about 75)

You can borrow our weather for today!

A cold front went through a couple of days ago, then the clouds from Ian came, and then the rain. So it's been kind of cold here.

Might make birding a little tougher...?

Birding was slow today, in a break from the rain late this morning. It was enjoyable though

RMD, things are going well around these parts, thanks for asking. Had a nice week and enjoying the weekend so far. Went for a motorcycle ride this morning up into the Mount Baldy area just north of the Claremont city limits.

JF, huh. Yay! I didn't know that. I did occasionally see Nutrias on the Eastern Shore/Delmarva Peninsula.

I take it Nutrias are not nutritious?

It was a bit cold as I ascended Mt. Baldy. I didn't go all the way up. I was wearing my riding jacket and jeans, thought I'd be good in terms of temp, but it got a bit foggy and visibility was low, so I peeled off and headed back down hill.

Can you ride up to the peak or did you dismount and hoof it?

I didn't get anywhere near the peak. No road that I know of takes you to the peak, I think the highest you can get is the base of the ski lifts. You'd have to hike it up from there. I didn't even get into Baldy Village this morning. I was a little tight for time, too.

Today's bike was tiny! 125cc

Just basic transpo or do you ride anything larger, I stick to the pedal variety

I don't ride larger motorcycles, lots of small stuff. It's not my daily driver, just to cruise around for fun.

Yeah, they're definitely economical.

I hear ya. I saw a motorcyclist in an accident not too long ago. Makes you stop and think.

The motorcyclist seemed OK, but the bike was laid down in the middle of the intersection.
