I have a whole box set of Midnight Special episodes from back in the day. That was such a rad show.

First television performances from so many legendary bands when they were starting out.

Actually, I found a way to stop the speed flashing avatar to a single frame on my phone, and can continue doing so in that I can see every frame in the avatar. I found some of the frames look very familiar, as if they were used in a horror movie that I saw a long time ago. (the title which escapes me)

Is that possible Taylor, to have an auditory seizure ?

I had a seizure once, when I was about 12, I had chicken pox AND spinal meningitis at the same time, I guess it had weakened me greatly

That's gnarly, Frank. I've been lucky to be seizure free, as far as I know.

Some of these gif’s I find online ACTUALLY COME WITH WARNINGS!! … “Extreme flashing lights may cause seizures in some viewers.”

I've seen those warnings at some concerts I've been to.

Also on a few video games I've played.

The band Car Bomb I play (but not often enough, because they effing rule), they have a row of strobe lights cued to the drummer's kick drum, so when they're blasting with their riffs on stage the lights are exploding in your face perfectly in time. I guarantee that effect has messed up people at their shows before.

I almost did the poor Boss Guy in once during his show with a Bob Dylan neon multi-colored gif that was flashing so fast… that may have been the most extreme one to date!

Yeah, if the thing you have on right now was in color, that would probably mess me up, too.

Dave, am I seeing the the actual "Ring" video from the 2002 horror film "The Ring" in your avatar ?

I actually used to suffer from seizures as a child due to epilepsy and a near fatal bout with encephalitis at the age of 2-3 years old. Flashing lights never induced the seizures though, they would just come on without warning.

Just leaving the Slipknow show in Irvine

During the Pandemic, I spent most of October 2020 and October 2021 watching certain movies for the first time, such as Return of the Living Dead , Dawn of the Dead (1978 and 2004) I Spit On Your Grave (1978) Evil Dead 1 and 2 and Army of Darkness etc

I'm a little disappointed with the new record. I thought the last one was incredible, but this new one is just okay to me.

They only played 1 song off the new album. The Dying Song

So maybe they're not too stoked about the new one either. It seems like they cranked it out pretty quickly.

This was the last show from this tour and Corey said this is it for awhile., but they'll be back for sure. You would think they'd wanna support the new album and go out again

I was just listening to the record again today. I can't even guess how many times I've spun this disc.

Do you have the Operation: LIVEcrime CD/VHS that you were supposed to synch up with each other to get “the total Operation: Mindcrime experience”?

I had the cassette / VHS version, and then somehow I ended up with the CD by itself. I really wish I had it on DVD, but it's crazy out of print now.

Maybe I'll transfer it if I find the VHS. I know my folks have a VHS to DVD burner and I have a stack of VHS tapes I've been meaning to transfer anyway.

My boss just gave me a few rad ones today, so if nothing else I need to hook up some kind of VCR so I can watch them.

I bought it way back when it was first released so many years ago. I still have the CD, but I’m not exactly sure where the VHS tape is. Kind of funny what passed for “state-of-the-art” back then!

I've got a couple VHS tapes I need converted also. Not really music related though.

I have a big stack of bootleg metal shows from the '90s on VHS, including a couple shows I actually went to. I want to get them preserved digitally so they don't end up getting lost forever.

They're totally not. It's all dude on stage filming or in the crowd on old-school video cameras. The quality isn't the best on all of them, but how else am I going to see a Pungent Stench show from 1993?

I also have the Deicide show I went to at the Showcase back in 1995. My one and only stagedive ever, and it was recorded. Suffocation opened that show and I have their set as well.

I can't even remember what's all in there. I found some dude selling them way back when and he cut me a really good deal. I ended up with something like 30 VHS tapes, most of which have 2-3 shows on them each.

The tapes I got today are rad also. I found a big box of random VHS at my work and pulled a few to see how much my boss wanted for them. He was so happy with the work I did today, he just gave them to me.

One of them is an entire Headbanger's Ball episode from 1990 with Megadeth on it.

One was one of those old in-store promo VHS with a bunch of music videos on it. I mainly wanted that one because one of the videos on there is Judas Priest's "Touch Of Evil".

Tapes can deteriorate. They should be preserved.

I know. I need to get on that. It's just a time consuming project and I don't have a ton of free time ever.

I heard a killer Judas Priest song on Sirius Liquid Metal today. Would have fit right into the show.

Be careful of the quality of disc you use to transfer over to. I was reading an article about CDs, DVDs and LaserDiscs and how they can be subject to “disc rot”, which is due primarily due to chemical reactions within the layers of the reflective coating and plastic layers in the disc.

It is almost entirely due to manufacturing practices and/or defects, although human mishandling and abuse can certainly lead to disc rot as well over time. CD-Rs and DVD-Rs, unfortunately, can have a greater chance of disc rot.

All over that, Dave. That's why I never buy cheap off brand discs.

If you're getting 100 CD-Rs for 10 bucks. there's something very wrong with those discs.

Tell you what... let's make this last set one of the greatest sets we've ever done.

Oh, I know the obsession of accumulating music very well, my friend. I already bought 3 CDs today, and during the show I've been shopping on Discogs. I have like 15 discs in my cart that looked cool from a distributor in Romania. I'll give some tracks a listen after the show and decide what to leave in the cart to place an order.

Ha. It's insane is what it is! But I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have noticed that I do have one CD that has some very obvious signs of disc rot. It is a copy of Scorpions Lonesome Crow (either a German or UK import) I bought eons ago. The reflective side was originally silver in color, but is now a nice golden-bronze, so there was definitely a high amount of oxidation that occurred.

The last time I played it though (in that oxidized condition), it played just fine, so I’m not too worried about it. And anyways, Lonesome Crow can be easily found in any halfway decent record store, special ordered, or purchased online. I bought mine way back when it was out-of-print, and the internet didn’t exist (or at least, was only a concept not ready for prime-time).

Made it home in time to say thank you Taylor for the ride home!! My buddy Tim I went with digs the show!! I'm gonna get him to tune in

I have around 400 CDr's from small indie bands. The first thing I do is rip a lossless fille, save it to 3 hard drives.
