DanS 12:29:01 PM
Hi, Nadine!
DanS 12:29:26 PM
This music kinda matches the weather today.
Nadine Francis (host) 12:33:44 PM
Hey Dan! Yeah, and my mood! Although I'm sure I'll be sunnier by the end of the show. :-)
DanS 12:35:15 PM
Everyone is allowed to be grumpy from time to time.
Blake 12:41:33 PM
Hi Nadine and Dan
DanS 12:41:36 PM
I've thought the same thing regarding the redundancy of everyday life.
DanS 12:41:58 PM
Hi, Blake!
Nadine Francis (host) 12:42:01 PM
Yup ... I think it every time I'm doing laundry. :-)
Nadine Francis (host) 12:42:06 PM
Hey Blake!
Blake 12:44:47 PM
Yea, Iā€™ve come to the conclusion that the way we live isnā€™t the way weā€™re supposed to live. I think weā€™re supposed to experience new things and places.
DanS 12:46:00 PM
I know that Socrates said "The unexamined life is not worth living" but examining life too closely reveals exactly what you're talking about. You have to strike a balance somehow.
Nadine Francis (host) 12:46:21 PM
Yeah, and I think it's made worse by the fact that we're relatively isolated as social creatures. We don't live communally, cook communally, take care of our kids communally, etc.
Nadine Francis (host) 12:47:15 PM
Yes, exactly, Dan ... we were talking about that this morning as well ... i.e. that sometimes it's better just not to think, but to feel and experience.
DanS 12:48:09 PM
Yes, Nadine, our society is not healthy. Connections can make a huge difference. Hence the chat box :-D
Nadine Francis (host) 12:50:27 PM
Ha, yes! Thank goodness for chat! :-)
DanS 12:51:07 PM
I agree, Blake. The way we live is not in harmony with our nature and nature in general.
DanS 12:51:39 PM
Holy cow! Thunder and lightning outside.
Blake 12:52:40 PM
As much as I enjoy solitude and quiet, Iā€™ve come to appreciate community.
Blake 12:53:59 PM
Hey so how ā€˜bout that GoT finally?šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£
DanS 12:54:22 PM
That's why I've participated in sports that force you to stop thinking and focus on the matter at hand and just experience the moment.
Blake 12:54:25 PM
*finale
Nadine Francis (host) 12:55:32 PM
Is it thundering? I'm down in the basement, so can't tell. :-)
Nadine Francis (host) 12:55:38 PM
Blake, GOT ... groan!
BoyNamedActually 12:56:08 PM
When I was walking back in from lunch I heard thunder
BoyNamedActually 12:56:28 PM
heavy dark clouds coming from the east towards the west. Hello everyone btw :-)
Nadine Francis (host) 12:59:01 PM
Hey BNA!
DanS 12:59:19 PM
Can't hear The Barber of Seville without thinking of Bugs Bunny. When he massages Elmer's head with his feet it gets me every time.
Nadine Francis (host) 12:59:53 PM
Lol .. I'm not sure if I've seen that clip. But I loved Bugs as a kid.
DanS 1:00:19 PM
Hi, Boy Named Actually!
Blake 1:00:38 PM
Well, I didnā€™t watch it but I was helped to remember why I never watched it. My boss loves it. He also loves to talk. Every Monday, I got the 3 hour verbal edition. Every 3 hour verbal episode ended with ā€œYou should watch it. You would like it.ā€ I would think why do I need to watch it? You just took 3 hours of my life talking about it!ā€ As a result I learned to hate it even though I never saw it. Heā€™s been complaining about the finale for 3 days...
Blake 1:01:34 PM
Hey actually!
DanS 1:03:01 PM
https://youtu.be/uYBce9Gsz7g Rabbit of Seville clip. The part I'm talking about is at :43 in.
Blake 1:03:12 PM
Iā€™m not in the storm but I can see it from where I am. Very dark clouds
DanS 1:05:48 PM
Oh, boy. There's nothing worse than someone giving a play by play account of a TV show, Blake.
Blake 1:06:41 PM
That made me lol for real. You realize the stuff we grew up with couldnā€™t be made today
Blake 1:15:56 PM
Dan, I couldnā€™t agree more. It was horrible! Now that itā€™s done, Iā€™m interested in it. At least the first 7 seasons. I like the girl with the big eyes already
BoyNamedActually 1:17:38 PM
Lost was a show I didn't watch until it was over
BoyNamedActually 1:17:58 PM
Seeing it all at once, rather than once a week over 6 years, I didn't mind the final season at all
Nadine Francis (host) 1:18:01 PM
Yeah, it's pretty heartbreaking, Blake, how it takes a nose dive in Season 8. If I could go back and do it over, I wouldn't have even started it.
BoyNamedActually 1:18:09 PM
I know a lot of folks hated it, but I rather like it
Nadine Francis (host) 1:18:33 PM
Yeah, BNA, I really liked Lost, including the finale. Bawled my eyes out when that dog cozied up to Jack at the end ... :-)
BoyNamedActually 1:18:42 PM
I know, right??
BoyNamedActually 1:20:07 PM
well, tuning out now. Got to go prepare for a 1:30 mtg. Enjoy the rest of the show!
Nadine Francis (host) 1:20:16 PM
I have a little 18-lb version of that dog and whenever he lies down like that, I think of that scene.
Nadine Francis (host) 1:20:25 PM
Bye, BNA!
DanS 1:20:45 PM
Maybe watching shows in real time builds up expectations too high. When you binge you don't have all that time to speculate.
Blake 1:20:48 PM
Bye BNA
Nadine Francis (host) 1:21:03 PM
Have you watched The Wire, Blake? (can't remember if we've chatted about that before) I'm rewatching it now (for the 6th time, I think) to restore my faith in HBO and quality storytelling.
Blake 1:22:00 PM
Never watched it. It sounds great but itā€™s hard to find time to sit down and watch shows the way Iā€™d like
Blake 1:23:53 PM
Iā€™m a little worried about HBO. Itā€™s been speculated that because GOT is over, theyā€™ll lose a lot of subs. I hope they donā€™t sacrifice quality for ratings
DanS 1:26:33 PM
That's Pamela Adlon but I don't know the series.
DanS 1:34:48 PM
Killing herself to death. Haha!
Blake 1:34:50 PM
This show sounds good.
DanS 1:39:56 PM
Got to go. Thanks for the music and chat. Have a good week!
Blake 1:46:54 PM
I gotta go too. Rain is picking up and I can see a very dark storm developing up where you guys are. Hang on to your hats!! Thanks everyone. Itā€™s always a good time! Thx Nadine!!!
Nadine Francis (host) 1:47:18 PM
Bye guys!!! Thanks so much for chiming in, as always!
