I learned so much. You have preconceived ideas about what country singers are like but this really upended some of those notions.

Yeah, and like a lot of Ken Burns' stuff, it's not so much about the subject matter as the historical and cultural context in which it's placed.

Hank Williams was amazing. Was shocked to hear he wrote Hey Good Lookin' in 15 minutes in the back of a car.

Ha, yeah, I'm with you, Blake. Although I've been really fortunate not to have attended many funerals. The roughest one, though, was a 23-year-old who died unexpectedly and I was really surprised how much the open casket helped everyone come to terms with it. It's like they just needed to see him for it to be real.

Oh, yeah, and I couldn't believe that he was only 29 years old when he died. Or that Patsy Cline was only 30. I guess folks just looked older back then.

Yes, I was surprised by the ages as well. It was all that drinking, smoking and hard living I guess.

Yeah, I think the whole open casket thing helps people get closure and say goodbye.
