Touch of Evil

Dec 13, 2019 10:00 PM โ€“ 1:00 AM

With Taylor

A morbid menagerie of past and future metal classics melded into a chaotic cacophony of sinister sounds for bleeding ears. Death is no escape here; in fact, it's where we begin our journey. This ride stops at Maiden, Mayhem, Melvins, Meshuggah, and all points in between. So climb aboard and put your horns, and the volume, way up.

Happy Friday the 13th! A nice smooth jazz interlude always sets the tone for indecent programming.
Frankie 10:15:06 PM
Good Evening, Taylor. I Miss You Last Week. ๐Ÿ˜ข
Taylor (host) 10:16:54 PM
Ha. I love having Graham's show before mine. I'm gonnna miss him next semester.

Taylor (host) 10:19:06 PM
I'm very sorry to hear that, Frankie. My condolences.
Frankie 10:23:37 PM
I Know. I Have No Money To Go Back To Town For Her Funeral. She Was Only 42 Years Old.
Taylor (host) 10:23:53 PM
Very sad, my friend. What was her name?
Frankie 10:25:41 PM
Her Name Was Dani She Was A Radio DJ Just Like You, Taylor. I'm Lost For Words Tonight. ๐Ÿ˜ข
Taylor (host) 10:26:57 PM
I will be thinking good thoughts for her, and for you. And I will light a candle for Dani when I get home tonight. I'm very sorry for your loss.
Frankie 10:34:06 PM
Thank You, Taylor But I Don't Think I Can Chat With You Anymore. I Don't Feel Like Suggesting Some Tracks From Ozzy Osbourne's 1983 Album Bark At The Moon With You Tonight.
Taylor (host) 10:35:08 PM
No problem, Frankie. Take care of yourself. I'll chat with you next week.
Frankie 10:36:15 PM
Before I Go, I Was Thinking If You Can Play Fade To Black By Metallica In Loving Memory Of Her?
Taylor (host) 10:36:41 PM
Let me see if I have it with me. If not, I can definitely play it next week.
Frankie 10:37:56 PM
Okay. Thank You So Much, Taylor. I'll Chat With You Next Week. Okay?
Taylor (host) 10:38:06 PM
You got it, Frankie.
Christine 10:43:50 PM
My condolences to you too, Frankie. <3
Dave 10:49:52 PM
Good evening Taylor!
Taylor (host) 10:50:23 PM
Good evening, Dave! How are you, sir?
Dave 10:52:08 PM
Pretty good. Ready to check out this week's selections on Touch of Evil.
Taylor (host) 10:53:29 PM
We have some good 'uns.
Dave 10:57:50 PM
And to Frankie, if you're still listening or reading the chat: I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend Dani. I'm sure she is in a much more peaceful place right now.
Dave 11:04:45 PM
Hey Christine! Did you enjoy the BOC show at The Canyon?
Christine 11:22:51 PM
Dave, yes. Are you from the boss guy chat?
Taylor (host) 11:23:40 PM
Dave is the one and only, Christine. That's why he's just Dave.
Christine 11:30:44 PM
Cool, I was just making sure cause thatโ€™s where I mentioned the concert. I loved the Bร–C show. I just wanted them to play longer!
Dave 11:40:47 PM
Yeah Christine, it's me Dave from the Boss Guy in Claremont show and from the World's Music Without Boundaries show too. The BOC show I saw (at The Coach House) the day after the show you saw was KILLER!! I know the band was great, but I was just wondering how your experience with The Canyon was. My wife and I went there for a show once, and we thought the venue was terrible. But maybe you had a better experience with it.
Taylor (host) 11:45:33 PM
I was actually at that Canyon BOC show also, Dave (that's why Robot Taylor was here last week). The venue didn't really have their act together in terms of where general admission people were allowed to stand, but other than that it was really cool. And the sound was way better than I was expecting it to be for a space not built for that. It's the best concert I've ever been to at a venue that used to be a mall food court, that's for sure.
Dave 11:48:27 PM
Ha, that's too funny!! All three of us were seeing the same band in concert (and almost all at the same venue)!!
Taylor (host) 11:49:43 PM
I LOVE the Coach House. But the Canyon is 5 minutes from my apartment, so I've been dying to check out a show there.
Taylor (host) 11:50:09 PM
There are a few others on next year's schedule I'm thinking of hitting up, too. I liked it enough to go back.
Taylor (host) 11:51:08 PM
Did BOC play "Joan Crawford" at your show? They did in Montclair, which was probably the best surprise of the night, but when I checked their other recent setlists, Montclair was the only show they played that tune at.
Christine 11:53:38 PM
I loved the โ€œJoan Crawfordโ€ too. It was a fun place to see a show despite the inconsistency of the standing room. I had food there when I saw LA Guns, and I donโ€™t recommend eating there. It was overpriced and just ok.
Christine 11:53:48 PM
And Danzig ๐Ÿ–ค
Taylor (host) 11:54:07 PM
Sorry, Christine. That track is going out to someone else.
Christine 11:54:54 PM
Thatโ€™s ok.
Taylor (host) 11:55:02 PM
Maybe next time.
Dave 11:58:41 PM
My wife has a friend who is a musician who we went to see open for Wilson-Phillips. We paid to get inside, and then when we sat down, they said we had to stand in the back, and if we wanted to sit, we would have to pay a $20 per person "upgrade" fee (they didn't bother to tell us that only until after we paid to get in)! When my wife tried to order a margarita from the bar, the bartender said she couldn't use the blender because it would "interfere with the acoustics" of the place! (?!?!?)
Taylor (host) 12:00:28 AM
I've heard nothing but bad stories like that, but they were decent when I was there. I was standing in a spot, and security dude came by, totally nice about it, and asked me to please find an open seat because I was blocking the people sitting behind me. Dude behind me lets me sit at the empty table next to him, so I take that spot. Less than a song later, another dozen people have clustered in the exact same spot I was just standing, blocking me now, and no one ever came back to move them.
Dave 12:03:57 AM
When my wife's musician friend heard about us having to stand, she got really pissed and raised hell with one of the staff, and we were then able to sit without having to pay the ridiculous "upgrade" fee. I don't know if we will ever go there again, unless a really great show happens there and nowhere else.
Taylor (host) 12:05:28 AM
Fair enough. Like I said, it's five minutes away from my apartment and parking's free, so I'm willing to battle a few hassles to see another show there.
Dave 12:06:34 AM
Metal Brother Taylor, thank you SOOOO much for the Di' Anno era Maiden from my favorite Maiden album as well, Killers!
Taylor (host) 12:09:20 AM
Thought you'd like that one. My pleasure, sir.
Dave 12:10:11 AM
That's true. The Canyon is tantalizingly close to where I live, too (Rancho Cucamonga).
Taylor (host) 12:12:50 AM
I like to support local places. And I'd rather not have to drive to LA to see Berlin, you know?
Christine 12:14:55 AM
This song rocks. Cheers to Chuck.
Taylor (host) 12:15:19 AM
They're all gonna rock.
Dave 12:23:36 AM
No, BOC didn't play "Joan Crawford" at The Coach House (I wish they did). But they played "Career of Evil" which was awesome, as well as "Then Came the last Days of May" which featured back-to-back blistering guitar solos, the first one by Richie Castellano (their second guitarist), and the second solo by Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, a founding member of the band.
Taylor (host) 12:24:05 AM
"Career Of Evil"?! Man, that would have been awesome.
Christine 12:25:59 AM
Good point.
Dave 12:30:45 AM
I was hoping they would play "The Revenge of Vera Gemini", but I guess they would have needed to have Patti Smith there on stage to do the duet vocal. I was also hoping they would play "Black Blade", but to no avail.
Taylor (host) 12:32:46 AM
Dude, I love every song on those first like 8 records. They could have played anything and I would have been happy.
Taylor (host) 12:33:05 AM
"Astronomy" was the one I was really hoping for that they didn't do, though.
Taylor (host) 12:33:28 AM
Or "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars".
Dave 12:33:47 AM
They didn't play that one at my show either! : (
Dave 12:34:05 AM
Or that one either!
Dave 12:36:07 AM
However, on an odd note, some guy in front of me brought a cowbell and drumstick to the show and started playing the cowbell part on "(Don't Fear) The Reaper".
Taylor (host) 12:38:27 AM
Ha! Thankfully that didn't happen in Montclair.
Dave 12:42:18 AM
All I could think of when that was happening was the SNL skit with Christopher Walken as "THE Bruce Dickinson" and Will Farrell as the cowbell player in that hilarious "More Cowbell!" sketch! I had to laugh!
Taylor (host) 12:42:37 AM
It's kind of impossible not to.
Dave 12:47:50 AM
Very nice Death set!
Taylor (host) 12:49:11 AM
I had to do it.
Taylor (host) 12:49:30 AM
We don't do it every year, but since the show fell on the exact day, it was a must.
Dave 12:55:28 AM
Thanks for the awesome Touch of Evil show tonight! And thanks for the Iron Maiden, too! Take care, be safe, and I shall hear you again real soon. Thanks again and good night!
Dave 12:55:58 AM
Good night and take care, Christine and Frankie!
Dave 12:56:18 AM
Long live Touch of Evil!!!
Taylor (host) 1:00:05 AM
Good night, all!
