Hey Christine! Did you enjoy the BOC show at The Canyon?

Cool, I was just making sure cause that’s where I mentioned the concert. I loved the BÖC show. I just wanted them to play longer!

Yeah Christine, it's me Dave from the Boss Guy in Claremont show and from the World's Music Without Boundaries show too. The BOC show I saw (at The Coach House) the day after the show you saw was KILLER!! I know the band was great, but I was just wondering how your experience with The Canyon was. My wife and I went there for a show once, and we thought the venue was terrible. But maybe you had a better experience with it.

I was actually at that Canyon BOC show also, Dave (that's why Robot Taylor was here last week). The venue didn't really have their act together in terms of where general admission people were allowed to stand, but other than that it was really cool. And the sound was way better than I was expecting it to be for a space not built for that. It's the best concert I've ever been to at a venue that used to be a mall food court, that's for sure.

Ha, that's too funny!! All three of us were seeing the same band in concert (and almost all at the same venue)!!

I LOVE the Coach House. But the Canyon is 5 minutes from my apartment, so I've been dying to check out a show there.

There are a few others on next year's schedule I'm thinking of hitting up, too. I liked it enough to go back.

Did BOC play "Joan Crawford" at your show? They did in Montclair, which was probably the best surprise of the night, but when I checked their other recent setlists, Montclair was the only show they played that tune at.

I loved the “Joan Crawford” too. It was a fun place to see a show despite the inconsistency of the standing room. I had food there when I saw LA Guns, and I don’t recommend eating there. It was overpriced and just ok.

My wife has a friend who is a musician who we went to see open for Wilson-Phillips. We paid to get inside, and then when we sat down, they said we had to stand in the back, and if we wanted to sit, we would have to pay a $20 per person "upgrade" fee (they didn't bother to tell us that only until after we paid to get in)! When my wife tried to order a margarita from the bar, the bartender said she couldn't use the blender because it would "interfere with the acoustics" of the place! (?!?!?)

I've heard nothing but bad stories like that, but they were decent when I was there. I was standing in a spot, and security dude came by, totally nice about it, and asked me to please find an open seat because I was blocking the people sitting behind me. Dude behind me lets me sit at the empty table next to him, so I take that spot. Less than a song later, another dozen people have clustered in the exact same spot I was just standing, blocking me now, and no one ever came back to move them.

When my wife's musician friend heard about us having to stand, she got really pissed and raised hell with one of the staff, and we were then able to sit without having to pay the ridiculous "upgrade" fee. I don't know if we will ever go there again, unless a really great show happens there and nowhere else.

Fair enough. Like I said, it's five minutes away from my apartment and parking's free, so I'm willing to battle a few hassles to see another show there.

That's true. The Canyon is tantalizingly close to where I live, too (Rancho Cucamonga).

No, BOC didn't play "Joan Crawford" at The Coach House (I wish they did). But they played "Career of Evil" which was awesome, as well as "Then Came the last Days of May" which featured back-to-back blistering guitar solos, the first one by Richie Castellano (their second guitarist), and the second solo by Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, a founding member of the band.

"Career Of Evil"?! Man, that would have been awesome.

I was hoping they would play "The Revenge of Vera Gemini", but I guess they would have needed to have Patti Smith there on stage to do the duet vocal. I was also hoping they would play "Black Blade", but to no avail.

Dude, I love every song on those first like 8 records. They could have played anything and I would have been happy.

"Astronomy" was the one I was really hoping for that they didn't do, though.

Or "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars".

They didn't play that one at my show either! : (

Or that one either!

However, on an odd note, some guy in front of me brought a cowbell and drumstick to the show and started playing the cowbell part on "(Don't Fear) The Reaper".

Ha! Thankfully that didn't happen in Montclair.

All I could think of when that was happening was the SNL skit with Christopher Walken as "THE Bruce Dickinson" and Will Farrell as the cowbell player in that hilarious "More Cowbell!" sketch! I had to laugh!

It's kind of impossible not to.
