I didn't know that! You actually just made me realize that I've been avoiding reading about Kurt Cobain since I was barely a teenager. That's how incredibly deep that shock went--not just for me, obviously. π

I've recently read an interview (The Fader) with Lambchop's Kurt Wagner. Whenever I feel overwhelmed by all of the music I *don't* know about, one of his quotes makes me feel not-quite-as-lame: "There is such an onslaught of music right now to hear. And a lot of it's really great. But it's almost impossible to even get your head around half of it, because there's so much. And I find myself falling behind all the time."

That's a great quote (and sentiment). Not only is there no shame in in discovering new (to us) music, literature, history, etc., it's one of the great joys of life! To be reminded that there is so much beauty to be mined.

I was working at the Rialto when Bowie died. Several of us stood outside and watched our colleagues change the marquee with this moving send-off.
