Is there anybody out there?
Julio Peña (host) 10:31:54 PM
Hey, you. Yes, you!
Julio Peña (host) 10:44:35 PM
I SEE YOU
Bama Dan 10:58:05 PM
First time visitor. I love your selections. Saw the Dead Kennedys in San Jose in 1980. Jello smeared himself with mayonnaise and of course hurled himself into the crowd. :-)
Julio Peña (host) 10:59:55 PM
Thanks for joining. Glad you're enjoying the cuts. Reminds me of Iggy Pop smearing peanut butter on himself and walking through crowds. Wonder who did that first...
Bama Dan 11:00:44 PM
Would be a good question to resolve,
Julio Peña (host) 11:01:27 PM
My guess is Jerry Lee Lewis
Bama Dan 11:01:57 PM
lol, maybe.
Bama Dan 11:08:52 PM
Devo was another act worth seeing live. Saw them at the Warfield in San Francisco in 1979 on the Duty Now for the Future tour. What struck me at the time was that they NEVER engaged with the audience.
Julio Peña (host) 11:09:52 PM
Awesome you got to see them then. I caught them at the Rialto years ago. Had my fingers on an energy dome they tossed down from stage.
Bama Dan 11:11:37 PM
They were incredible.
Bama Dan 11:12:19 PM
Seriously, though, your selections are great.
Julio Peña (host) 11:12:44 PM
iGracias!
Bama Dan 11:12:54 PM
De nada!
Julio Peña (host) 11:12:59 PM
I'm here every Thursday night. Tell your friends!
Bama Dan 11:14:35 PM
Is this "John Fox" Ultravox?
Julio Peña (host) 11:14:51 PM
Yes, it is!
Bama Dan 11:15:07 PM
Damn...no one plays this stuff...
Julio Peña (host) 11:15:33 PM
Right here we do!
Bama Dan 11:16:33 PM
Love it.
Bama Dan 11:18:52 PM
They changed so much with Midge Ure. Not a bad thing, and they were more popular, but it was noticeably different.
Julio Peña (host) 11:20:02 PM
For sure. I enjoy John Foxx's early solo stuff.
Bama Dan 11:22:37 PM
Embarrassed to say I've never listened to Au Pairs. Can sorta see the (unfair) comparisons with GofF, only because of the rhythm section. But other than that, no way.
Julio Peña (host) 11:26:28 PM
Lazy comparison, no doubt.
Bama Dan 11:32:42 PM
Awesome selection from The Flesh Eaters. This draws upon so many early influences!
Bama Dan 11:33:34 PM
Sorry...I'm listening to you on streaming, so there's a delay...
Julio Peña (host) 11:34:39 PM
however you're listening is all good
Bama Dan 11:41:16 PM
Let It Be...what a classic and perfect album!
Bama Dan 11:43:08 PM
And it's hard to imagine Bob Mould back in those days, but I do remember. Thanks for this.
Julio Peña (host) 11:43:52 PM
Just opening the memory floodgates here
Julio Peña (host) 11:44:33 PM
My fave Bob Mould fun fact is that he was a writer for World Championship Wrestling
Bama Dan 11:46:52 PM
Did not know that! Great info!
Julio Peña (host) 11:50:25 PM
That's tonight's show! Thanks for the company, much appreciated. Maybe catch you next week!
Bama Dan 11:51:38 PM
You've got a great show! Glad I was able to catch it...thanks!
