Bama Dan 8:53:44 PM
Really loved the clip in the movie Head where Frank Zappa tells Davey Jones that he should work on his music. :-)
Jeff Rogers (host) 8:54:08 PM
:-)
Jeff Rogers (host) 8:54:30 PM
How ya' doin' Dan?
Bama Dan 8:55:30 PM
Doing well, Jeff! How are you?
Jeff Rogers (host) 8:56:48 PM
Good as! It's been a pretty good day!
Bama Dan 9:00:07 PM
Nice! A few days ago, I started delving into Rainer Ptacek, Howe Gelb, and Giant Sand. Tucson has such a rich tradition of music...so much there.
Bama Dan 9:00:26 PM
Stuff that I never knew about.
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:01:39 PM
True that! Many layers and branches that overlap and touch! Are you in Tucson or Bama?
Bama Dan 9:02:53 PM
For now, in Huntsville, but that won't be permanent. When I first got into KXCI, about 8 years ago, I lived in Yuma.
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:04:17 PM
Cool! Glad you're staying up and listening!
Bama Dan 9:05:16 PM
Yeah, me too! Great late night programming on Thursdays! Daylight Saving Time is a little more challenging, lol
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:06:23 PM
Yeah! As you know, we don't do that silly stuff here! We've got enough daylight for the world during the summer!!
Bama Dan 9:06:50 PM
I know, man! I miss it so much!
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:09:32 PM
Hope you can make i back soon!!
Bama Dan 9:10:33 PM
Thanks, Jeff, me too. I have always loved Tucson.
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:16:46 PM
I've never been to Hunstville! Is it similar to rest AL as Tucson is to the rest of AZ?
Bama Dan 9:23:42 PM
LOL, that's a perfect way of putting it! I explored so much of AZ when I lived there, and Tucson was as different to Flag, Kingman, Springerville, Kayenta, Ajo, Jerome, The Valley, Littlefield, Nogales...
Bama Dan 9:24:49 PM
Huntsville is very different than the rest of Alabama. We're at the north end of the state, and the landscape is very different than the southern part of the state.
Bama Dan 9:25:42 PM
We're part of the Cumberland Plateau, the southern tip of the Appalachians. Scenic in its own way.
Bama Dan 9:26:12 PM
As with AZ, each part is so different...
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:26:13 PM
I drove throu9gh the Southern end on I 10. Different planet somewhere after middle TX!
Bama Dan 9:32:35 PM
Yes, the southern end is very different. Gulf Coast landscape. Lower elevation, many more coastal pines, higher humidity. We're between 600-1200 feet elevation, with more hardwood (deciduous) trees. Or should I be directing this to Petey Mesquitey? :-D
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:36:31 PM
It was a beautiful stretch of road through Al and MS. It was hard to rectify the history of thew region to my west coast sensibilities!! I don'[t mean to sound snobby but it was such a beautiful and sublime countryside!!!
Bama Dan 9:40:03 PM
Ha ha, not at all!!! I can't compare any of this in the Southeast US to the landscapes in the Western US. Sure...it has its own beauty, at times, but nothing compares to Arizona and New Mexico to me.
Bama Dan 9:40:50 PM
I'm a desert rat. :-)
Julio P. 9:44:39 PM
Any Climax Blues Band tonight?
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:47:22 PM
In your dreams Julio P! :-)
Bama Dan 9:47:28 PM
Anything from Pure Comedy is golden. Bob Weston to follow. :-)
Julio P. 9:48:17 PM
Bob Weston... of Fleetwood Mac fame?
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:48:28 PM
I'm a west coast rat but I've lived in the desert more than half my life!!
Bama Dan 9:48:37 PM
No! Not THAT Bob Weston!
Bama Dan 9:49:52 PM
Me too, Jeff. Was born and raised in the Bay Area.
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:49:58 PM
Who the heck is Bob weston?
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:50:11 PM
Santa Monica!
Bama Dan 9:50:31 PM
And I lived in SoCal from 1981 to 1989...
Bama Dan 9:51:12 PM
LOL
Julio P. 9:51:22 PM
Literally a couple of us!
Bama Dan 9:51:52 PM
Bob Weston is obviously a touchstone for many of us.
Jeff Rogers (host) 9:58:38 PM
G'night y'all!
Bama Dan 9:59:05 PM
Night, Jeff!
