Brings back memories of driving throughout Los Angeles County with my friend Miriam in her beat up BMW and catching so many emerging indie acts live. Saw someone get hit with a bottle at a live show!
10:13 PM		Blanck Mass Rhesus Negative World Eater Sacred Bones Records 2017 Experimental industrial project from Benjamin John Powers, one-half of the indie band Fuck Buttons. This album is his response to the populist political upheaval from 2016. Tasty tune!
10:25 PM		Goblin Suspiria Suspiria. Cinevox Record 2017 Italian prog rockers composing the title track to a classic 70s horror film by Dario Argento. What's not to love?
10:31 PM		Can Father Cannot Yell Monster Movie Mute 2013 1969 debut LP from the influential Krautrock band and only LP to feature vocalist Malcolm Mooney before being replaced by Damo Suzuki.
10:38 PM		The Ex Pigs & Scales Joggers & Smoggers The Ex 2008 1989 experimental double LP from the always interesting Dutch band. Album includes contributions from member of Sonic Youth and Dog Faced Hermans throughout.
10:43 PM		Gang of Four Paralysed Solid Gold Matador 1981 Opening cut fFrom Go4's second studio LP. No sophomore slump here!
10:47 PM		Cabaret Voltaire Just Fascination The Crackdown Mute 2013 1983 release from this experimental, industrial, post-punk (INSERT LABEL HERE) trio. The punk rockers loved them!
10:51 PM		Rel Rex Program B9 Bis (Belgian Cold Wave 1979-83) LTM Publishing 2007 As you gathered from the album title, Rel Rex was a Belgian Cold Wave artist, slightly chippier than its dour peers.
10:57 PM		Devo Pity You New Traditionalists Warner Records 1981 This LP was meant as a musical and lyrical rebuke to the success (and clueless new fans) brought on by the hit single "Whip It". "Opening cut "Through Being Cool" is Devo laying all that aside.
11:02 PM		The Raincoats Fairytale In the Supermarket The Raincoats We ThRee 2009 About this song, from Ana da Silva: “There is a scene in Who Is Poly Styrene, set among the grocery store aisles, where Poly is pushing a shopping cart beneath fluorescent lights, grabbing up products… it is the industrial Wasteland of late capitalism. ‘I remember distinctly thinking that her music sounded a bit like fairytales, but in a consumerist society. Suddenly it came to me. This is like a fairytale in the supermarket.’”
11:05 PM		Sonic Youth Beauty Lies in the Eye Sister Squeaky Squawk 1987 Fourth studio LP from Sonic Youth. This tune features four guitar tracks overlaid. Written by Kim Gordon.
11:07 PM		Wipers No Fair Youth of America Zenorecords 1981 Second studio LP from Greg Sage and company. Despite the band's sound, Greg Sage did not consider Wipers to be a punk rock.
11:12 PM		Saccharine Trust I Have... Paganicons SST Records 1981 Debut EP from this Los Angeles punk band. Influenced by the experimentation of the Minutemen and wanted to build on that sound.
11:13 PM		Public Image Ltd. Poptones Second Edition Rhino/Warner Records 1979 Post-punk band formed by John Lydon fka Johnny Rotten following disbandment of the Sex Pistols. The lyrics for this song are based on an abduction, with the surviving victim stating the abductors kept playing the same random pop tune over and over in the car while she was in the trunk (!).
11:26 PM		NEU! E-Musik Neu! 75 Grönland Records 2001 Third studio LP released in - you guessed it - 1975 by former Kraftwerk members Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother. This album influenced much of the music created by John Lydon with PiL.
11:36 PM		Liars The Start The Apple Drop Mute 2021 10th studio LP from this experimental arty post-punk band originally formed in NYC. Only original founding member and singer Angus Andrew remains. For this release, he returned to his native Australia and spent time in the outback, resulting in this atmospheric, experimental release.
11:43 PM		Electric Wizard Venus In Furs Black Masses Rise Above Records 2010 Gotta love this English doom metal with hints of sludge and stoner rock.
11:49 PM		Crime and the City Solution No Money No Honey Room of Lights Mute 1986 No, that's not Nick Cave on vocals but rather Simon Bonney. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and Crime & the City Solution were both featured on Wim Wender's beautiful 1987 film Wings of Desire.

I love me some Krautrock. That's kinda proggy, no? Also went through a heavy Tool phase. They were influenced by King Crimson. So...

I still love the LP "Trilogy".
