10:04 PM		The Fall Winter (Hostel-Maxi) Hex Enduction Hour (Expanded Deluxe Edition) Cherry Red Records 2016 Fourth studio LP from The Fall, released 40 years ago this month. Leading up to its release, it was rumored this would be the final Fall album due to Mark E. Smith's displeasure with Rough Trade Records. The Fall would go on to release 32 LP prior to Smith's passing in 2017.

10:13 PM		Shame Snow Day Drunk Tank Pink Dead Oceans 2021 More recent post-punk, this by way of England and featured on several Best of 2021 lists.
10:21 PM		NEU! Lila Engel Neu! 2 Groenland 2001 As the number 2 denotes, this is the second studio LP from the influential Krautrock act, released back in 1973. "Lila Engel" (Lilac Angel) is the closing cut to side one.
10:26 PM		De Ambassade Standhouden Standhouden - Single Knekelhuis 2020 Dutch modern Cold Wave that harkens back to the 80s while managing to sound modern at the same time. Isn't that the goal for many musical acts?
10:31 PM		Molchat Doma Не Смешно / Ne Smeshno Monument Sacred Bones Records 2020 More modern Cold Wave, this by way of Belarus. First of three singles from this release, with the album briefly touching the US Billboard charts.
10:35 PM		Peter Murphy His Circle and Hers Meet Love Hysteria Beggars Banquet 1988 Second studio LP from the former Bauhaus frontman. Album procuded by former Fall member Simon Rogers.
10:44 PM		Pop. 1280 Brennschluss N Museum On the Horizon Profound Lore 2021 Latest album from the NYC synth-punk act. Much more restrained than earlier releases, with vocals brought more to the forefront.
10:49 PM		ACTORS Love U More N Acts of Worship Artoffact Records 2021 Canadian post-punk act with their latest and second studio LP. Nothing we haven't heard before, but they do it so dang well. One of my faves from 2021.
10:53 PM		HEALTH THE MESSAGE VOL. 4 :: SLAVES OF FEAR Loma VIsta Recordings 2019 Los Angeles-based noise rock act. Will be rolling through town, playing at 191 Toole on August 25th!
10:56 PM		The Faint Victim Convenience Blank-Wave Arcade Saddle Creek 1998 Second studio LP from this Omaha synth-dance-punk act. Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes was a brief member of the band when it formed, but quickly left thereafter.
11:01 PM		Front 242 Circling Overland Front By Front RRE Records 2021 Belgian electronic/industrial act. Front By Front was the band's fourth studio LP, released in 1988.
11:05 PM		Wire Ambitious The Ideal Copy Mute, a BMG Company 1987 Another fourth studio LP, this time by the English post-punk legends. Difficult to follow up the 1977-1979 trifecta of Pink Flag/Chairs Missing/154, but Wire managed to release a decent album here.
11:09 PM		Alan Vega Nike Soldier N Mutator Sacred Bones Records 2021 Though Alan Vega (1/2 of the NYC synth-punk act Suicide) passed away in 2016, he left behind a voluminous set of never-released recordings, some unfinished. This collection - the first of several planned with Sacred Bones records - are recordings Vega composed in the mid-90s.

11:26 PM		Cloakroom Fear of Being Fixed N Dissolution Wave Relapse Records 2022 Newest LP by the Northwest Indiana shoegaze inspired trio. A concept album of sorts (when incorporating the insert/cover/back) focused on a future Earth wiped out from a tragic physics accident. With every listen to this album, I discover something new: a riff, a dynamic, a mood. Easily 2022 Top Ten material!

11:35 PM		Gary Numan A Black Sun N Intruder BMG Rights Management (UK) Ltd 2021 Despite being better known for New Wave hits "Cars" and "Are Friends Electric?", English musician Gary Numan has released a prolific body of work. On here - his 21st studio LP - Numan continues his theme about the possibility of a bleak future with a concept album primarily told from the Earth's point-of-view, decrying the ills brought on by humanity.

Have you played earlier releases of Pop 1280, Julio? I thought you had, but wasn't sure. I wasn't sure how much less accessible those tunes were than what you're playing now.

I have! One of my fave acts going today. Earlier releases are darker, heavier, vocals buried in the mix but still with plenty of catchy hooks.

Their debut LP "The Horror" is fantastic.
