corbin frame 8:31:08 PM
love this cover .. believe it or not, Roger Miller sang King of the Road last night in one of my dreams! really.
Rose Lady (host) 8:31:46 PM
WHAT!?!? reeealy? cool
corbin frame 8:33:04 PM
yes, really, its been on my mind all day so I'm loving this uncanny synchronicity. I hadn't thought of that song in years
Rose Lady (host) 8:33:22 PM
..hmm...does this hapen often? just curious
corbin frame 8:35:05 PM
last memory of hearing it is my mother picking me up at school in her thunderbird in Birmingham in 1964
corbin frame 8:35:49 PM
it actually does happen often
Rose Lady (host) 8:36:00 PM
WOW! 😎
Bama Dan 8:41:51 PM
Evening, Rosie! Hey Corbin! Better late than never...
corbin frame 8:42:43 PM
yep, lol bama d
Rose Lady (host) 8:44:11 PM
So Glad you could make it! Yay
Bama Dan 8:44:59 PM
😊 🎶
Bama Dan 8:51:41 PM
Funny what you were saying about Roger Miller, Corbin. King of the Road was playing *everywhere* in 1965! My dad, after working all day in his service station, would go out to his favorite bar with his friends, and they would always be selecting KOTR on the jukebox, and singing along. They were crazy about it! I was just a rugrat then, but my mom would take us down there sometimes. It was also a pizza place, which is what my brother and I cared about. 😁
Rose Lady (host) 8:55:21 PM
Awe...💙

corbin frame 8:59:33 PM
what a great story Dan, I 4got did you grow up in the south?
Bama Dan 9:00:02 PM
Hello Robert!
corbin frame 9:00:29 PM
welcome robert:) chatting is fun!
Bama Dan 9:01:30 PM
No, Corbin, my parents were both southerners who met out in California in the 1950s. So that's where I grew up. I moved to Alabama in 1989.
robert adkins 9:02:30 PM
@Corbin thanks I haven't chatted for several years
Rose Lady (host) 9:02:34 PM
Robert...so glad you are with us here listening and chatting😊
robert adkins 9:03:11 PM
Awww TY Roselady ! Been wanting to say Hi! to you for years!
corbin frame 9:03:28 PM
wow, CA in the 50s ...
Rose Lady (host) 9:03:55 PM
Well dang...so Glad you FINALLY did: "Howdy"!
corbin frame 9:04:32 PM
how old were you when y'all moved to Bama Dan? I was 2 .. moved from Galveston
Rose Lady (host) 9:04:50 PM
Dan...89 is the yr I moved to Tucson! funny..
robert adkins 9:05:01 PM
Howdy to ya Rosie (WV Howdy!)
Bama Dan 9:05:33 PM
Yeah, it was very different than it is now. There were so many jobs there and nothing in the South. And my dad and his redneck friends (many of whom were from the South as well) had a field day! They were crazy. Haha!
Rose Lady (host) 9:05:39 PM
🤩🤠
Bama Dan 9:07:08 PM
OK, Rosie...is there something about 1989 that we haven't been seeing till now? 😆
Rose Lady (host) 9:08:10 PM
Gee..I dunno?? is there?🤣
Bama Dan 9:08:42 PM
Corbin, I was just about 29 years of age when I left Los Angeles and moved to Huntsville. I knew that you lived in Chattanooga but I guess I forgot that you lived in B'ham. Sorry!
corbin frame 9:10:17 PM
ok, quick story, since we're talkin' .. my mother worked at BMI Records in Nashville after college & she would always tell the story of when skinny guy came in w/his guitar & asked to meet the guy in charge ... it was Hank Williams (the unknown)
Rose Lady (host) 9:11:11 PM
WOW GREAT Story! love it
corbin frame 9:11:42 PM
fyi Rosie during your show there are occasional overlaps w/Gregs show .. its happening now...
robert adkins 9:12:00 PM
That must have been quite an expereince for her.
Bama Dan 9:12:38 PM
@Corbin: WHOA
Bama Dan 9:13:08 PM
Very cool.
Rose Lady (host) 9:14:10 PM
LOVE these kewel stories...luv this community🧡
Rose Lady (host) 9:15:16 PM
hmm? I have no idea why Corbin?? sorry...wish I could help...Hey Dan any ideas?
robert adkins 9:15:17 PM
So everybody has some kind of claim to fame. Her'e mine or more directly my familiy's. My great grandfather shared a common fence with Anse "Devil Anse" Hatfield , the patriarch, of the Hatfield Clan in the Hatfield and McCoy fued.
corbin frame 9:16:54 PM
wow
robert adkins 9:17:30 PM
My great grandparents "Poppy and Mommy Adkins" used to hide Devil Anse on their property sometimes when the law was looking for Hatfield.
Rose Lady (host) 9:17:33 PM
Ya'all are amazing! what cool ness we share here in the chat
corbin frame 9:17:49 PM
so the the Hatfield and McCoy feud was rea.
Rose Lady (host) 9:18:05 PM
!!!!!!
robert adkins 9:18:45 PM
Yes the fued was very real.
corbin frame 9:18:46 PM
did you ever see the Devil?
corbin frame 9:18:55 PM
ahem
robert adkins 9:19:28 PM
No I never saw Deveil Anse. But I've seen his statue on his grave in Logan WV
corbin frame 9:19:51 PM
WV is deep
Bama Dan 9:19:52 PM
I'm not sure, Rosie...you've been drawn (I've heard more than a few times) more to the Ameripolitan edge, and Greg bills his shows as Americana. And there's a lot of overlap there. But now the convo has moved on, lol
Bama Dan 9:21:28 PM
Just now catching up on Robert's family history...wild stuff!
Rose Lady (host) 9:22:35 PM
sure is! I can barely keep the music goin...I'm so interested in these AMAZING stoties..I'll go bk and re-read
robert adkins 9:24:33 PM
That fued was hard to control because McCoys were in Kentucky and Hatfields were in West Virginia so the state law couldn't do anything because KY law couldn't go to WV and likewise and the feds really didn't care too much about a couple of hillbilly families wiping each other out.
Bama Dan 9:24:35 PM
But to keep it all straight, Robert, your kinfolk shared a fenceline with Devil Anse Hatfield. And sometimes hid him from the law. From my own family's history and goings on in the 20s and 30s, that's admirable. 😁
robert adkins 9:24:57 PM
Correct Dan
Bama Dan 9:25:32 PM
My dad's dad was a bootlegger, lol
robert adkins 9:25:46 PM
But why do you term it admiriable?
robert adkins 9:26:43 PM
Oh I see. If bootlegging happened in my family it's been kept very much under wraps
Bama Dan 9:27:07 PM
Because my own family was on the edge of the law for so much of the early 20th Century. See below. I'm not saying it was...they did and said many things that I don't agree with. But from their standpoint? Yeah, they would have seen it as honorable.
robert adkins 9:27:25 PM
But plenty of bootlegging went on in those parts.
Bama Dan 9:27:32 PM
Absolutely!
Rose Lady (host) 9:28:10 PM
y'all are makin me thirsty....
Bama Dan 9:28:34 PM
And Rosie is making me laugh!
corbin frame 9:28:48 PM
lol Rosie
robert adkins 9:29:20 PM
I guess our family was a bit more fortunate than a lot of folks. Poppy was a timberman as was Anse Hatfield so they didn't need to resort to moonlighting with moonshine.
robert adkins 9:30:11 PM
Gotta to admit the best dern liquor I ever swallowed was chrystal clear shine
corbin frame 9:30:58 PM
Rosie, re the chat, I see you just chose a song about the Devil lol, love it .. & you :)
robert adkins 9:31:00 PM
But that was in the Everglades about 1980. $35 a gallon smmoother than any silk ever hoped to be.!!!!
Rose Lady (host) 9:31:05 PM
is that "white lightnin"?
Bama Dan 9:31:19 PM
Whereabouts in WV, Robert?
robert adkins 9:31:21 PM
That it was Rosie!
Rose Lady (host) 9:31:34 PM
Good catch Corbin!
Rose Lady (host) 9:31:43 PM
ooohhh
robert adkins 9:32:07 PM
Where abouts what Dan? Family or shine? Shine was in FL
robert adkins 9:32:46 PM
Family was in southern coalfields Mingo County Western part of state on KY border.
Bama Dan 9:33:08 PM
Oh OK...earlier, Robert, you said you were in WV. I just assumed that's where you were talking.
Bama Dan 9:33:52 PM
But my grand-daddy moonshined in the FL Panhandle. We call it the Redneck Riviera. :-)
Bama Dan 9:34:48 PM
Thanks for that, Robert. I will look it up. Like to know about geography.
robert adkins 9:34:59 PM
Haha! If I hadn't have lived in FL for 16 years I wouldn't know it's probably the reddest state in the union, maybe even redder than TX (if thta's possible)
corbin frame 9:35:20 PM
does that include Destin?
corbin frame 9:35:53 PM
:/
Bama Dan 9:35:57 PM
Oh man...Jim Reeves! Dad and Mom were such fans!
Rose Lady (host) 9:36:23 PM
😊 Jim was smooth
Bama Dan 9:38:06 PM
So, throwing props back to Rosie (so well deserved)...I also noticed the pairing "Honkytonk Moon" and "Stoned at the Jukebox", after talking about my wild dad in his juking days. Very nice!
corbin frame 9:38:17 PM
Rosie, have you ever heard of The Mountain Opry on the back of Signal MTn, TN where I grew up?
robert adkins 9:38:28 PM
Rosie what's your claim to fame (besides Rosie's Rhythem room)?
corbin frame 9:38:37 PM
...the overlap is happening again fyi
Rose Lady (host) 9:39:02 PM
I have heard of it..just a bit tho Corbin
corbin frame 9:39:16 PM
the opening of your show is playing on top of what you are playing now ..
Rose Lady (host) 9:40:11 PM
...get it head South ..all ya southerners lol
robert adkins 9:40:40 PM
These overplays you speak of Corbin do not happen on my radio.
robert adkins 9:41:09 PM
Corbing are you listening on phone?
Rose Lady (host) 9:41:21 PM
Well Robert nothin as exciting or historical as your stories..mine have to do with some of the wonderful musicians I've met...and such
Bama Dan 9:41:44 PM
Yeah, Robert...Corbin, I'm not sure where this is coming from, but the playlists are different on my end.
corbin frame 9:41:50 PM
nope, laptop , hmm good feedback, it does happen sometimes on the stream & then it stops ?

Rose Lady (host) 9:47:27 PM
I also got to take The Flatlanders to lunch in So Tuc for Mexican food...at Crossroads...they LOVED it..oh some cool stories from that lunch date...ahh
robert adkins 9:47:34 PM
Ohhhhh...made him cookies huh? Say no more. Made you leave the boots on...
Rose Lady (host) 9:48:26 PM
Robert?! Oh My...
corbin frame 9:48:28 PM

Bama Dan 9:49:03 PM
