Funny what you were saying about Roger Miller, Corbin. King of the Road was playing *everywhere* in 1965! My dad, after working all day in his service station, would go out to his favorite bar with his friends, and they would always be selecting KOTR on the jukebox, and singing along. They were crazy about it! I was just a rugrat then, but my mom would take us down there sometimes. It was also a pizza place, which is what my brother and I cared about. 😁

No, Corbin, my parents were both southerners who met out in California in the 1950s. So that's where I grew up. I moved to Alabama in 1989.

Yeah, it was very different than it is now. There were so many jobs there and nothing in the South. And my dad and his redneck friends (many of whom were from the South as well) had a field day! They were crazy. Haha!

ok, quick story, since we're talkin' .. my mother worked at BMI Records in Nashville after college & she would always tell the story of when skinny guy came in w/his guitar & asked to meet the guy in charge ... it was Hank Williams (the unknown)

So everybody has some kind of claim to fame. Her'e mine or more directly my familiy's. My great grandfather shared a common fence with Anse "Devil Anse" Hatfield , the patriarch, of the Hatfield Clan in the Hatfield and McCoy fued.

My great grandparents "Poppy and Mommy Adkins" used to hide Devil Anse on their property sometimes when the law was looking for Hatfield.

That fued was hard to control because McCoys were in Kentucky and Hatfields were in West Virginia so the state law couldn't do anything because KY law couldn't go to WV and likewise and the feds really didn't care too much about a couple of hillbilly families wiping each other out.

But to keep it all straight, Robert, your kinfolk shared a fenceline with Devil Anse Hatfield. And sometimes hid him from the law. From my own family's history and goings on in the 20s and 30s, that's admirable. 😁

Because my own family was on the edge of the law for so much of the early 20th Century. See below. I'm not saying it was...they did and said many things that I don't agree with. But from their standpoint? Yeah, they would have seen it as honorable.

Reallyt?! my favorite was Billy Joe Shaver...I got to pick him up from his hotel and bring him to his Gig...He loved my cowgirl boots, told me I HAD to wear them to his show! lol I made him choc ship cookies..he was a stinker..so sweet and fun..too much to tell, need to ck muy music here..

I also got to take The Flatlanders to lunch in So Tuc for Mexican food...at Crossroads...they LOVED it..oh some cool stories from that lunch date...ahh
