You're so welcome. Sheikh Raad Al Kurdi is a Kurd from Iraq. Definitely Muslim, but without being able to ask him I can't say for sure if he's Sufi. Definitely mystical Islam for sure.

Check out a photo of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and you'll see what inspired that song. I cried as soon as I entered the mosque -- the devotion there is so powerful.

good lord, i just saw images of the mosque .. to me it like a fantasy illustration, hard to believe it is real ... makes the Taj Mahal seem insignificant :/ lordy! thanks

i am breathless looking at it, never seen any spiritual site of that scale .. angkor wat ...? intersectionality of architecture and spirituality .. the ancient mud mosque in Djenne mali ... really overwhelming

Djenne is on my life list. I hope they let me in...

but even being in Djenne is so intense & ancient it always rendered me mute, really. i visited to stay w/ fellow Peace Corps friends btw in the mid-8os

as a non-muslim you are considered to be an unclean infidel, tainting the space ... which I'm sure you know

You give me too much credit! I was encourage to pursue a Fulbright when I was younger...but that was a long time ago.
