Music

With Rose Lady

Bakersfield Sound!

Music from the early 50's- mid 60's ..yes, Merle and Buck are the big names, but many others are connected to the

Bakersfield Sound...and that's what I am sharing. You can count on hearing plenty of crying steel guitars, with styles including

Western Swing, Dancehall Shuffles,Honkytonk Weepers, and even a little Rockabilly!

Hello Rosie! Hello Dan!. Good to see you all here tonight.
Bama Dan 9:10:29 PM
I'm not sure where tonight's show will go, but I'm really enjoying the tunes from the 1950s. And the Billy Mize tune sounds like it was tailor made for Johnny Cash.
Bama Dan 9:10:39 PM
Hello Robert!
Robert Adkins 9:11:49 PM
How ya been Dan?
Bama Dan 9:12:16 PM
Great, Robert! How about you?
Robert Adkins 9:12:45 PM
I like a lot of those 50's tunes better than later stuff. Might have something to do with hearing it when as I grew up in the 60's
Robert Adkins 9:13:28 PM
I've been good thanks. Trying to get the year started out good
Bama Dan 9:13:31 PM
Totally agree, Robert. It's a personal thing, isn't it?
Robert Adkins 9:14:15 PM
Yes our likes and dislikes are personal. One can't help what they like.
Rose Lady (host) 9:14:54 PM
hey Robert Welcome! these songs are sooo short ..little time in between..but so glad yer here
Robert Adkins 9:17:48 PM
Thanks so much Rosie! You have no way knowing this but I've been with you almost every Tuesday for a long time and would have listend more years except I'm a northwest stepchild and thus could not listen to you for a long time. But Cathy Rivers , bless her heart. She went to bat for us and finally got KXCI all over the valley
Robert Adkins 9:22:35 PM
Dan we had a stereo in our house and we listened to lots of albums -Roy clark, Marty Robbins, Pastsy Cline, Eddie Arnold, Ray!, and so many others all the other greats. And when I visited my aunt then we really got...in the pines so to speak.
Rose Lady (host) 9:23:30 PM
🧑 so sweet of you..Love it
Bama Dan 9:24:08 PM
Robert, this is exactly what my dad listened to, back in the 60s and 70s. As kids, we often complained about it, but over the years I grew to appreciate it.
Robert Adkins 9:24:12 PM
I always felt like I was watching a movie when I listened to Marty Robbins - I could see it all
Rose Lady (host) 9:24:31 PM
awesome
Robert Adkins 9:25:20 PM
Dan For sure and when I hear those tunes now - Ernie Ford! OMG! Walter Brenen!
Bama Dan 9:25:58 PM
For real. I love this music now. But when I was a kid, I bitched about it! lol
Rose Lady (host) 9:26:06 PM
😘🀠
Robert Adkins 9:26:10 PM
Rosie - will you play Old Rivers by Walter Brenen?
Robert Adkins 9:27:06 PM
I'd listen to ld Rivers and I could see it all - the clouds, the mule, the fields, the tired old man.
Rose Lady (host) 9:27:24 PM
sorry hon, it's not in this set..and that's all I have for tonite
Robert Adkins 9:29:16 PM
Rosie, Most people I'd call bad names and yell at them for not givineg me what I asked for, but you I'll let by with it.
Rose Lady (host) 9:30:37 PM
🀣😍I REALLY am SORRY....I REALLY mean IT!
Robert Adkins 9:31:41 PM
Dan we listened to lots of country Gosple music too as our airwaves in WV were full of country preachers and angelic Appalacian chiors from way back up in a holler somewhere.
Rose Lady (host) 9:32:23 PM
ooh love it
Bama Dan 9:32:46 PM
OK, a new revelation, but I never knew that anyone played with the Buckaroos besides Buck Owens!
Robert Adkins 9:34:05 PM
Oh Rosie no problem I undersatnd. Your're still the best show on the air. Please don't let that slip to Ruby, Besty and Milo.
Robert Adkins 9:35:34 PM
Dan I never knew until about 20 years ago ol Buck was from Bakersfeild!!!!??? California???!!! Well he had to have been born somewhere else.
Rose Lady (host) 9:35:57 PM
my lips are sealed...(w/a kiss) lol
Bama Dan 9:36:41 PM
@Robert: I totally get it. You're from West VA if I recall correctly? And of course the legacy of moonshine history in Florida...?
Bama Dan 9:39:09 PM
Yes, big time. Growing up, my family used to say "Buck Owens, the billionaire from Bakersfield!" Ha ha!
Robert Adkins 9:42:01 PM
Dan hard for me to type now, as I just got an ekiss from rosie...I'm sure you can understand. Yes Dan you have a good memory. I'm from western part of WV over by Kentucky and ohio where US 23 runs through. I remeber reading an article in a WV news paper that the US 23 corridor has the highest density of famous county singers. We used to vacation at a lake in Kentucky in the town where dwight yokum was born.
