Greetings from Chico, California David! Great start to the show. That Jason Vieaux album of Bach violin works is gorgeous. And always good to hear DiMeola and Paco tearing up the fretboard on that classic tune. Reminds me of the tour I was fortunate enough to see, those two with McLaughlin. What a show. And none other than Steve Morse solo acoustic was the opening act!

I got to see the “Trio” when they toured to support their 2nd album. However, McLaughlin wasn’t there. Eric Johnson was the sub, and it was a great concert.

Yes, and that was when I realized just how good & versatile Eric is. It was all acoustic guitar and Eric played toe to toe with Al & Paco.

Back in the day, I saw EJ solo acoustic at a small clib in LA. It was a small intimate setting. I sat next to (of all people) Steve Vai. We chatted a bit and he said something to the effect of, “I don’t consider myself a guitarist compared to Eric.” Talk about heavy endorsements! Fortunately, I was able to record that show. I’ll have to share it with you. Incredible.
