Window Shop of Love
Want it so much, look but don't touch
The Fall Mansion
This Nation's Saving Grace Beggars Banquet 1985
Wipers Window Shop for Love
Is This Real? Zenorecords 1980
Debut LP from Greg Sage and company. Despite the band's sound, Greg Sage did not consider Wipers to be a punk rock band. From a 2020 Rolling Stone interview: “We were not considered punk because we didn’t try to be. I always liked wearing worn-out flannel; it was my Oregon fashion statement, I guess. I was a rebellious kid my whole life and would always do the exact opposite of what people said I must do to fit in.” This Pacific Northwest band was a major influence on Kurt Cobain.
Black Flag Black Coffee
Slip It In SST Records 1984
Fourth studio LP from the hardcore punk band, controversial for its album artwork and select song lyrics. In a May 2014 Razorcake interview, Black Flag bassist Kira Roessler criticized select lyrics from the album and artwork: "I didn't really recognize that they might have interesting ideas about women and that me being in the band was controversial. I didn't think that way until I saw the cover of Slip It In and I kind of realized, for one thing, they certainly didn't glorify women. That cover does not glorify women."
Sonic Youth Kool Thing
Goo Geffen 2015
Lead single to Sonic Youth's 1990 and sixth studio LP, with spoken word guest vocals from Public Enemy's Chuck D. Always forget about the official music video:
Joy Division Transmission
Still Rhino 2007
Released in 1981 following the passing of vocalist Ian Curtis, Still collects unreleased recordings, select singles, and live cuts from this influential band. "Transmission" was originally released in 1979 as the band's debut single.

Pork Torta Steal a Move L
Casual Living Bloat Records 2011
For my money, one of our best local bands. Heck of an album, fun and bouncy.
NoMeansNo Rags and Bones
Wrong Wrong 1989
In this programmer's humble opinion, NoMeansNo takes the mantle as Canada's best - though now defunct - punk band. This LP, the band's fourth, is their most commercially and critically successful release.
Cunning Stunts Amphetamine Reptile 1992
Minneapolis noise-rock band. The cover to this - the band's fifth studio LP - is their direct take on Eric Dolphy's Out to Lunch! cover, that being a great slice of avant-garde jazz.
Nicfit Human Inane

Electric Wizard Venus In Furs
Black Masses Rise Above Records 2010
Seventh studio LP from the English stoner/doom metal band. Though it shares the title with a 1967 Velvet Underground song, it is not a cover. Both cuts were inspired by the 1870 novella of the same title from Austrian writer Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.
Iggy & The Stooges I Need Somebody
Raw Power Columbia/Legacy 1973
Third studio LP from Iggy Pop and The Stooges, with newly brought-on James Williamson taking over guitar duties from Ron Asheton (relegated to bass). This LP was released on Columbia Records after the band was dropped by Elektra following 1970's Fun House. Supposedly, Columbia wanted a radio-accessible ballad from the band, with "I Need Somebody" fulfilling that request.
Mark Lanegan Methamphetamine Blues
Bubblegum Beggars Banquet 2004
Sixth studio LP from the late, former Screaming Trees frontman. Backing vocals by Molly McGuide, one of several guest musician throughout which included PJ Harvey, Greg Dulli, Josh Homme, and many others.
