Despite this, Ministry mainstay Al Jourgensen disowned the album for decades, stating he was pressured to record a synth-pop album by Arista and not what he envisioned of the band early on. However, in a retrospective interview with Minor Threat/Fugazi frontman Ian MacKaye - who collaborated with Jourgensen on Pailhead - stated Jourgensen would not discover hardcore punk until the mid-80s, a statement supported by Jourgensen himself. Jourgensen now credits the album as important to his artistic trajectory. |
